Michail Antonio admits he doesn't remember anything from horror crash that almost killed West Ham legend

MICHAIL ANTONIO admits he has NO recollection of the awful crash that almost took his life.
The West Ham legend smashed his Ferrari into a tree last December - leaving him with a serious lower leg fracture and lucky to be alive.

He was airlifted to hospital and rushed into surgery and spent the rest of the season fighting to get back on his feet.
Antonio, 35, spent three weeks in hospital as he began his recovery.
But the striker revealed he cannot remember it.
Speaking on the Beast Mode On Podcast with Adebayo Akinfenwa, Antonio said: 'What's crazy about it, everybody in the world experienced that crash more than me.
"Even though I was in it, I didn't live it because I don't remember anything about it.
"I don't remember the crash, I don't remember being in the hospital, I don't remember going in for the operation, I don't remember coming out of the operation.
"There were loads of emotions coming through, my body remembers stuff even though my mind doesn't.
"What I've learnt from the car crash is football 's important, but your health is more important."

Following the accident, Antonio was adamant he would play football again.
And he finally made his big comeback in June, playing as a substitute for Jamaica in the Gold Cup group stage, losing to Guatemala in California.
Now Antonio says he has tried to find the positives from the accident, insisting 'the crash was also a blessing'.
And he revealed a tearful moment listening to a Beyonce song with his kids helped change his perspective.
He added: "I was in Dubai with my kids, my daughter loves Beyonce, [and the song] I Was Here.
"I've listened to it so many times but since the car crash, I listened to it and I was just sitting there, in a room with my kids but I've gone into a corner and I was crying.
"Those words, when you've been through what I've been through, when you've nearly died. When I was listening to it, I've gone.
"Now I'm at that stage where I'm going to bring myself happiness. I'm going to do whatever needs to be done.
"As much as the crash was a curse, it was also a blessing. It's brought so many things to light and made me more focused and driven to do what needs to be done."

Antonio is the Hammers' all-time top scorer in the Premier League, having scored 68 goals in 268 games.
His contract with the club expired on 30th June but he hopes to continue playing.
West Ham confirmed last month that Antonio will be listed as a free transfer but stressed they remain fully behind him during his comeback.
A statement read: 'Given Michail Antonio's unique situation following his serious road traffic accident.
"There will be no formal decision on his future until such time that it is considered right and appropriate.
'As a long-serving, highly-respected player and a much-loved member of the West Ham family.
"The club's absolute priority is to support Michail personally in his journey to resume playing at the highest level.'

How do Watkins and Sesko compare to Hojlund?

At present Rasmus Hojlund is Manchester United's first-choice centre-forward, but United have been linked with moves for both Benjamin Sesko and Ollie Hojlund scored just four goals in 32 Premier League games last season for United - and is yet to find the net in pre-season - both Sesko and Watkins posted much healthier 2024-25 figures. Sesko scored 13 in 33 top-flight appearances in Germany for RB Leipzig, while Watkins netted 16 in 38 for Aston Hojlund signed for United in the summer of 2023, then-boss Erik ten Hag described him as "a real frontman" but both Watkins and Sesko offer more all-round games. Watkins has an excellent assist record, while there is more to 6ft 5in Sesko than just a classic number nine. He is fast, comfortable receiving the ball to feet with his back to goal or hanging on the shoulder of the last defender and racing onto a through ball. Plus he can score goals of all types from all sorts of distances. He has outperformed both Watkins and Hojlund in several key metrics so far in his elite-level of the three, Sesko has the best shot conversion rate and, at 22, offers equal longevity to Hojlund. If Ruben Amorim is looking for a player who provides a focal point and can compete in aerial duels, Sesko is also probably a better fit than Watkins, who is six inches shorter than the Slovenian and whose game is more about movement and runs into space.

England star who won World Cup with Phil Foden now a financial advisor after losing ‘spark of football'

WINNING the World Cup is usually a sign of football stardom, or even of things to come in the youth categories. However, winning the Under-17s World Cup with the Three Lions in 2017 alongside the likes of Phil Foden, Marc Guehi, Morgan Gibbs-White and Jadon Sancho did not pan out how one star expected. 3 3 While the aforementioned quartet are paid millions of pounds every year and swarmed by fans everywhere they go, for Curtis Anderson, a routine trip to the coffee shop remains a walk in the park. Anderson, who was the Young Lions No1 goalkeeper under Steve Cooper during the tournament in India eight years ago, has switched career from safe hands to safe financial advice. The 24-year-old now heads the sports department for an independent financial adviser, spending more than half of his time speaking with athletes - many of whom are footballers - to help them make informed decisions on their money. It is a position he knows all too well, having been there himself. But how did such a rising World Cup winner at one of the country's most successful clubs at the time fall through the cracks of making the big leagues? Well the short answer, according to Anderson, is rushing his career decisions. Speaking to the BBC he said: "I look back and think, at 18, what was I in a rush for? I was in such a desperate rush to do everything. I came off the back of the World Cup and expected everything now. "I was looking at other young players, what they were doing, and not really valuing the path that I was on. Playing for City and England, my trajectory would have been straight up." Instead, a young and impatient Anderson headed to the United States to play for Charlotte Independence in 2018, but that move ended in disaster as the manager who had bought him there was sacked within three months and put him out of favour. Anderson spent two years on the books at Wycombe from 2020, with two loan spells in those years, before falling into non-league and ultimately retiring in 2023. Lionesses' Beatlemania-like homecoming shows women footballers are FINALLY getting the honour and respect they deserve It was five years of hell for the Barrow-born goalkeeper, who confessed: "The spark of football just wasn't really there. "I didn't have the same drive and love for it that I had five years earlier, I was happy to do my day job. The decision to fully stop playing came quite easily." Anderson says he is "proud" to see his former team-mates doing well, but insists he is not envious or regretful over what could have been, declaring: " If you offered to put me in their situations now, playing week-in week-out in the Premier League, I wouldn't trade that for what I'm doing now." When he was aged 11 and starring for Blackpool, Anderson was scouted by both Manchester giants. Anderson says he has no regrets about choosing to play for City, or the move which took him from a small town to the big city, insisting being in that "high performance environment" every day helped to shape his current livelihood. But he also recalls the "daunting" experience of the Covid-19 pandemic when he had no idea what to do with the money he had earned while on the books at Man City. Despite passing accountancy and finance exams, he eventually concluded football was not for him, and instead opted to shadow a financial adviser near his parents' house. And upon reflection, Anderson is happy with the roll of the dice he has cast, feeling he can help a lot of budding professionals in a field he laments over how little education is available. He said: "At Wycombe, I'd get questions from older players. I realised there is a lack of education and support about finance in football. "There's not enough education, guidance and support for young people with high earnings. "If you're a lower-league player, your immediate priority should be to plan for life after football. If you've got that sorted, you can set yourself and your family up for years. "I look at what I know now and feel like I need to help as many people in football as I can." 3

Miami Dolphins hit with another devastating injury blow with plans for 2025 season in turmoil

Miami Dolphins star cornerback Kader Kohou is out for the season after suffering a knee injury during Saturday's training-camp practice. Kohou's injury, as he is viewed as the leader in the Dolphins' secondary, only compounds a massive problem for the team, with its anchor in one of its weakest position groups now unavailable until 2026. Kohou turned a successful Division II football career into a long-standing NFL stay after signing with Miami in 2022 after going undrafted.
