Glastonbury fans fuming as final resale tickets for festival sell out in minutes
Many Glastonbury fans hoping to bag a ticket for the festival this summer have been left empty-handed due to what organisers have called an 'incredible demand'
Glastonbury fans are furious after failing to bag to any final resale tickets for the festival this summer. The last lot of tickets for the Worthy Farm knees-up were up for grabs online today, however, they sold out within 20 minutes, leaving many potential party people empty-handed.
Breaking the bad news that all the tickets for the festival in the West Country were now sold, the official Glastonbury X account explained: "On a morning of incredible demand, all of the tickets in today's resale have now been sold. Thank you to everyone who bought one, and sorry to those who missed out." However, the apology wasn't enough for some, who branded the ticketing system a joke as they aired their frustration on social media.
One shared: "I do not think #glastonburyfestival cares about their fans anymore given the comments this morning. The festival does not seem to be what it once was."
Another said: "Absolutely gutted, got through to the payment page in around 18 mins and then it said sold out." A third vented: "This is b******s, Glastonbury. Not been able to get tickets for 6 years!" while a fourth fumed: "Please reinstate the old system. This year has been ridiculous. Four tries and didn't get anywhere near close."
Glastonbury announced changes to its booking process last year, with the introduction of an automatic queue system.
The change meant that fans would have to be online before ticket sales begin on 14 and 17 November. Rather than refreshing a holding page, they would be "randomly assigned a place in the queue" once tickets are available. People who joined later were automatically placed at the back of the queue.
By cutting out the need to constantly refresh the website, the load on the ticketing system is supposed to be reduced and may even speed up the process for users.
However, many fans have been left without a ticket and will now have to watch the festival on TV to get a glimpse of their favourite acts.
This year's line-up features a whole host of stars, including The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo, Neil Young, Rod Stewart and Charli XCX.
But for fans unable to bag a ticket, who are still wanting their fix of live music, the Mirror has rounded up a list of other festivals around the country, which offer a good alternative.
Liverpool Sound City in Liverpool from 2-4 May celebrated Liverpool's musical heritage and is perfect for discovering the next big indie and alternative acts. Performances across multiple venues provide an intimate festival experience in this iconic music city. Tickets from £49.50.
Meanwhile, Back To Mine in Bristol from 23-25 May is set in the beautiful surroundings of Chew Valley Lake and promises sets from Gok Wan and Roni Size. You can buy a weekend ticket to the house and dance music festival which stretches across three days for £162 or a day ticket for just £66.45.
Elsewhere, Parklife in Manchester from 14-15 June is one of the UK's biggest urban festivals. It offers a lineup of top-tier acts across genres including hip-hop, pop, and electronic, known for its lively crowds and buzzing energy. Tickets are from £97.70.

Stormzy takes first acting role as he launches film production company
After conquering the charts, Glastonbury's Pyramid stage and launching his own publishing imprint, Stormzy is taking his first steps into the world of movies with starring in a short film about the travails of an ex-rapper. Big Man will be made by the rap star's own production company Merky Films in association with Apple, and feature Stormzy – in a sizable wig – as the lead character Tenzman, 'a former rap star now navigating a restless and uncertain chapter of his life'. The film is directed by Aneil Karia, who won an Oscar in 2022 for his short film The Long Goodbye, which starred Riz Ahmed. Released on YouTube on 18 June, Big Man blends 'humour, vulnerability and quiet transformation', according to the team behind it, who added that 'the film thoughtfully explores themes of reconnecting with your younger self and embracing gratitude'. 'It's a natural next step for everything we do at #Merky,' Stormzy added. 'Sharing our stories, spotlighting important voices and making room for those who deserve to be seen and heard.' Stormzy has built a growing empire away from his music work that blends grant-giving, literature and sport – with a book imprint (#Merky Books, which is part of Penguin Random House), #Merky FC in collaboration with Adidas, and his own foundation. The rapper, whose real name is Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr, said that the film company is something he has 'been dreaming about for ages', calling it a space for 'powerful British stories and a solid home for fresh, unexpected art'. He said: 'I hope you love our first project, Big Man, as much as we loved making it. For me, it's all about the joy, spirit and fearless energy of youth – that feeling like life is one big adventure and the world's your playground. I hope it inspires you to dream bigger, live louder and hold on to that unapologetic energy that comes with being young.' #Merky Films is also developing a drama series and what it is calling 'a seminal biopic that promises to leave a lasting cultural mark', although the subject of the film is to be confirmed. The company is also working on what it calls 'thought-provoking documentaries', a 'bold new animation project' and a 'boundary-pushing, new-age mockumentary'. Stormzy will be joined on screen by Klevis Brahja, who was street cast for his part, and Jaydon Eastman, who starred in The Lion King UK and Ireland tour as Young Simba. The news came after Black British film-makers and producers told the Guardian they were 'fighting over scraps' amid lack of opportunities, with some claiming conditions are worse now than before the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020. Andy Mundy-Castle, the founder of the indie company Doc Hearts, who won a Bafta and a Royal Television Society award in 2024 for the documentary White Nanny, Black Child, said despite critical acclaim it was as difficult as ever to get commissions. Dakota Johnson has confessed she had a really bizarre dream about one particular frontman involving asparagus and murder. She revealed a Glastonbury headliner had recently haunted her dreams while on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast. How Rolling Stones could be Glastonbury's Patchwork as they record 25th album
You wouldn't believe it if we told you this in the 1960s when the Rolling Stones formed, but the band are said to be recording their 25th album over five decades on. And they could possibly even be heading for Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage in the mysterious Patchwork slot in two weeks time. Hear me out. After their last No.1 album, Hackney Diamonds, dropped in 2023 with rave reviews and the success of their single Angry, members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood are said to be working on the new record with current drummer Steve Jordan. 'Originally, the plan was for them to bring their huge US tour to the UK and Europe this summer, but promoters couldn't get the dates to work, a source told The Sun. This huge news comes as Glastonbury dropped its full line-up for this year, with a number of secret sets billed. While some of these mystery slots are earmarked with TBA, there is one primetime Pyramid Stage slot currently occupied by a non-existant band called Patchwork. Most eyes are on Pulp at the moment, with Glastonbury tipsters Secretglasto convinced the 90s rockers are Patchwork, just as the Foo Fighters were made-up name The ChurnUps in 2023. However, with talks of tour plans being scrapped due to dates not being able to work and a new album said to be on the way, why could it not be the Rolling Stones? Sir Rod Stewart has already confirmed Rolling Stones member Ronnie Wood will be at the festival, making a surprise appearance in his Sunday afternoon set, so he's in situ. But here's the big clue: Rolling Stones is actually a Patchwork pattern, which perhaps seems less tenuous than Pulp member Candida Doyle recently saying she likes doing patchwork on tour. Also, what band in the history of the world has a more recognisable band patch, than the Rolling Stones' hot lips logo? Plus, the late Rolling Stones member Charlie Watts was known for his love of tailoring, having owned over 200 suits, so the Patchwork moniker could be a nod to him. It would make sense, as he was totally different in his tailored three-piece suits, against the other Stones' rock and roll attire. The first and only time the Rolling Stones have performed at Glastonbury came in 2013, when they headlined the Pyramid Stage with Watts, before his death in 2021. According to LitHub, Sunspel, the British clothing manufacturer, designed a T-shirt that was easier for Charlie to play in due to the insertion of an extra side panel, allowing for two seams down the side instead of one. He was said to be so happy with it that the entire band wore the design at the Glastonbury Festival in 2013. In case we didn't need any more clues, in the 1960s – when the Rolling Stones were formed – patchwork patterns saw a huge revival with the emergance of the hippy culture. All an innocent coincidence?
