Christina Applegate reveals her dad passed away 'a week ago'
Christina Applegate's dad has passed away.
The 53-year-old actress has revealed in a new interview that her father, Robert Applegate, died "a week ago".
Speaking to JoAnna Garcia Swisher on the 'MeSsy' podcast, Christina shared: "My dad just passed away a week ago.
"This is the first time I've really cried. I think kind of, like, I wasn't allowing myself to have that yet. Too busy with this, too busy with that."
Christina and her family actually "knew" her dad "was going to die".
The Hollywood star then added: "Is that an excuse for not feeling? Because you know that someone's gonna go? And you've said your goodbyes?"
Christina subsequently opened up about her relationship with her dad.
The actress said: "I didn't grow up with my dad. He and my mom separated when I was five months old, but he's been in my life ever since."
Meanwhile, Christina was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, and the actress recently revealed that she found herself "screaming" in pain amid her struggles with the autoimmune disease.
The film star said on the 'MeSsy' podcast: "I lay in bed screaming - like, the sharp pains, the ache, that squeezing."
Christina admitted that she now struggles to perform everyday tasks, including answering her phone and using her TV remote.
The actress shared: "I can't even pick up my phone sometimes because now it's travelled into my hands, so I'll, like, try to go get my phone or get my remote to turn on the TV or sometimes, I can't even hold them. I can't open bottles now."
Christina also struggles to get out of bed in the morning, explaining that her bedroom floor feels like "lava".
The 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' star said: "I put my feet on the ground and they're hurting, like, extraordinarily bad to the touch. I was like, yep. Gonna get back in my bed and pee in my diaper because I don't feel like walking all the way to the damn bathroom.
"I actually don't lay here and pee in my bed diaper. That's just a joke. But it's like it's so freaking painful and so hard and so awkward."

I just keep doing it and getting into things too fast that I know aren't right. "I never wanted to get divorced. I'm the only person in my family to ever get a divorce. So I just felt like it's safe to be back in a relationship, but ultimately, that was not safe either."

Conan O'Brien grateful for younger online fanbase
Conan O'Brien believes the internet saved his career. The 62-year-old comic recalled how his stint hosting 'The Tonight Show' - which he took over in June 2009 but left just seven months later when Jay Leno wanted to return to the timeslot - "blew up" and left him fearing he was "in real trouble" - only to realise he had a younger generation of people praising his skills online. Speaking to Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler on their 'MeSsy' podcast, he said: "I've had multiple times in my career where things kind of blew up or went sideways. "I had no regrets about giving ['The Tonight Show'] a shot. And when, for all these complicated reasons, it blew up, I was deeply upset. I thought, 'I'm in real trouble and this could be the end of my career [at 46].' "But lo and behold, this thing called the internet rose up, and I got this huge groundswell of love and appreciation that I didn't expect. "Because [when] you're doing a show like ['Late Night'], day in and day out, for 16 years, it's submarine duty. "You don't get a chance to understand fully that there's a generation of people out there that have been watching, they're younger than me, and they all knew how to use the internet. So, they all got on social media and it was this big thing." The 'Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend' podcaster thinks the fact he gets "very restless" and enjoys new challenges has helped him to maintain a lengthy career on the small screen. Heather Rae El Moussa's friendship with Christina Haack is 'getting there'
Heather Rae El Moussa's friendship with her husband's ex-wife is 'developing'. The 37-year-old reality star is married to Tarek El Moussa and has two-year-old son Tristan with him but is also stepmother to Taylor, 14, as well as nine-year-old Braydon - whom he shares with Christina Haack. And, she explained that working with Christina on 'The Flip Off' has led to them bonding. She told Us Weekly: 'I think friendship is a very special thing, like being a friend. And I think we're getting there, right? We're opening up to each other about things. We help each other through things. We talk about personal things with each other and guide each other through things. So our friendship is developing even more and more. 'It did [surprise me] because we talk about the kids. It's school, school stuff and homework and discipline and sports, but then, we don't know each other. We didn't know each other on a deeper level of who we are as individuals and filming a show together and being around each other more outside of just the children. ['The Flip Off'] got us to know each other on more of a friendship level.' Heather also revealed she would love to work with Christina again if 'The Flip Off' gets renewed for a second season. She said: 'It's an incredible show. We are very hands-on. We are executive producers. We helped create the show. We started in the show, and there's always trash talk with Tar and Christina, not so much me. I mean, it's fun to gang up on my husband. He's just easy and he has fun with it. Christina and I, we've built a friendship throughout The Flip Off and we co-parent together and Mother's Day is coming up, which is exciting. We get to celebrate each other as mothers. But yeah, there's always a little trash talk. It's fun, but it's healthy.'
