R.A. Hill Stable's Pop Idol Sings In Galway Stakes

R.A. Hill Stable's Pop Idol Sings In Galway Stakes originally appeared on Paulick Report. R. A. Hill Stable and trainer George Weaver's Pop Idol led from gate-to-wire to win Thursday's Listed $150,000 Galway, a 5 1/2-furlong Mellon turf sprint for sophomore fillies, at Saratoga Race Maclean's Music bay was one of four contestants for Weaver as she made her first start since winning the six-furlong Shady Well Stakes in November over the Woodbine Tapeta while in the care of Katerina Vassilieva. She returned victoriously off the over eight-month layoff with a successful sophomore debut at odds of 17-1. "It seemed to me that she ran the best,' Weaver said. 'She broke running, and I told them all to go out there and try to stay out of each other's way and ride a natural race. She broke on the lead and kept going, saved ground."Everybody asked me about these fillies, and I said, 'Every one of them has a chance to win, I sincerely believe that.' If you like one at 7-2 or 4-1, well, here's one at 16 or 17-1,' Weaver added. Piloted by Hall of Famer John Velazquez, Pop Idol emerged alertly from the inside post and took early command while Magnolia Prime applied pressure from the outermost ninth post through an opening quarter-mile in 21.56 seconds on the firm Idol led in the turn while Magnolia Prime remained close along with a host of pursuers in behind, readying for their runs, including Delightful Flame and Weaver stablemate Regalton, as well as the Weaver-trained Laurice launching a wide bid and 2-1 favorite Love Cervere following suit on the extreme outside.'She was pretty strong in the first part, so I tried to rate her the best I can and save something for the end, and she gave it all,' Velazquez said. 'I was waiting the whole time. I was waiting until we turned for home to let her run, and she responded.'At the stretch call, through a half-mile in 44.61, Pop Idol still held a 1 1/2-length lead over the rallying favorite Love Cervere, but it looked like she had her work cut out for her as nearly the entire field was fanned out and in with a chance. Pop Idol, encouraged by Velazquez, responded along the rail and kept daylight back to Love Cervere and the oncoming Abientot, who emerged as a late danger under Dylan Davis from last. Abientot surged nearing the wire, but there was no catching Pop Idol, who won by one length in a final time of 1: Cervere was a half-length back of Abientot in third, finishing a nose better than the Weaver-trained New York-bred Silsbee. Laurice, Magnolia Prime, Make Haste, Regalton, and Delightful Flame completed the order of Beauty, Proud Starlet, Roja, Luna Louska, as well as main track-only entrants Hollygrove, Flat Out Time, and Stone Smuggler were scratched. Weaver said he was impressed by Pop Idol's showing off the bench."I thought she was a work or two short,' Weaver said. 'You have to take your opportunities with the 3-year-olds, especially the fillies, and pile up as much black type as you can and hope when they have to run against 3-and-up they can carry on their form. I was glad to win and feel bad none of the other ones hit the board, but it is what it is, and they all deserved a shot.'Dylan Davis said the dual Hall of Famer Mark Casse-trained Abientot could use more distance. He piloted her to a third-place finish over course and distance last out in the Grade 3 Coronation Cup on July 11 here, and navigated her elusive stakes victory in the six-furlong G3 Matron in October at Belmont at the Big A. 'I enjoy riding her. She's good. She's not that big, but she's definitely fast. Five-and-a-half is just short for her, period, but she always comes with a great run, great heart, and a strong finish,' said Davis. 'I was a little wide last time I thought, chasing a little bit, so I tried to go inside and wait a little longer, and everyone was getting jammed up, so I ended up having to go back outside. I saved ground the whole turn, so it evened out pretty well. She ran great.'Pop Idol, bred in Ontario by Christine Hayden, is out of the G3-winning Lemon Drop Kid mare Unspurned and was a $150,000 purchase at the 2024 Fasig-Tipton July Horses of Racing Age Sale. She banked $82,500 in victory while improving her record to 7-4-0-1 and returning $37.60 for a $2 win bet. Live racing resumes Friday with a 10-race card featuring the G2 Ballston Spa in race 8. 'Gorgeous' - Toni Breidinger's New Ad Has NASCAR Fans Talking

'Gorgeous' - Toni Breidinger's New Ad Has NASCAR Fans Talking originally appeared on The Spun. With the NASCAR Truck Series set to resume this week, Toni Breidinger has landed yet another endorsement deal. Breidinger, 26, is currently in her first full-time season in the Truck Series. She previously competed in the ARCA Menards Series, earning 27 top-ten finishes and breaking several barriers along the way. Although she figured her rookie season in the Truck Series would present a few hurdles, she's a bit surprised by how difficult the adjustment has been. "Yeah, there's honestly quite a bit of things that I was kind of surprised by this year," Breidinger told 5GOATs. "I knew the learning curve was going to be steep, and I knew that I had a lot to learn. But I don't think I realized how much I was going to learn, how much I'm taking away. Like, after every race, I'm like wow, I feel like a new driver because I've learned so much. "So, yeah, almost the unknown of I didn't know how much new stuff I was going to learn. In so many different areas, from the tracks and the truck and the aero. Yeah, I've been learning a lot, and I'm like, I can't believe I've been learning this much. Kind of crazy, but yeah." Despite her struggles on the track, Breidinger continues to expand her brand. In just the past few months, she has agreed to partner with Coach and 818 Tequila. Earlier this week, Breidinger announced that she's a partner with SALT & STONE. She shared a video of her using the product along with the caption "race day ready." While some NASCAR fans congratulated Breidinger on her latest brand deal, others were too busy commenting on her appearance in her SALT & STONE ad. "You're gorgeous," one fan commented. "Looking amazing," a second fan wrote. "Lovely as always," another fan said. "You sold me...I'll take 2," an Instagram user wrote. Breidinger, the first Arab American woman to compete in NASCAR, is no stranger to turning heads. Back in May, she appeared in the 2025 edition of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. "It's an honor to be featured in the 2025 issue," Breidinger said. "It's very surreal to be in this issue alongside so many inspiring athletes. Thank you a million to everyone who made this dream of mine come true." SI Swimsuit has not yet announced if Breidinger will return for the 2026 magazine. In the meantime, NASCAR fans can cheer on Breidinger this Friday when the Truck Series heads over to Watkins Glen International.'Gorgeous' - Toni Breidinger's New Ad Has NASCAR Fans Talking first appeared on The Spun on Aug 6, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 6, 2025, where it first appeared.

Nikola Jokic Cries Tears Of Joy After His Horse Wins A Major Race In Serbia

Nikola Jokic Cries Tears Of Joy After His Horse Wins A Major Race In Serbia originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Nikola Jokic has been dominating the NBA for at least the last five years, during which he won the MVP Award in three of them. Yet, Jokic has always claimed that basketball is not everything to him in his life. One rarely anticipates seeing offseason workout videos of Jokic, as he is mostly busy living his best life off the court during this time. And more often than not, Jokic is spotted on the sidelines of the horse racing tracks in Serbia. Recently, Nikola Jokic went viral on social media after his offseason video was posted online. Nikola Jokic can be seen going emotional after his horse wins a race in Serbia. Crying like a proud father, Jokic was spotted hugging his horse and the trainer, Vladimir Pribic. Subsequently, he is seen popping a champagne bottle and running around, celebrating a lot like the day he won the NBA championship in 2023. Some NBA fans also argued that he is celebrating a lot more than he did when the Nuggets won the 2023 title. They took to social media and pointed out the stark difference in his celebrations. "Nikola Jokic seems happier about his horse winning a race than when he won the NBA championship." "Basketball is really a side gig for him. He's just elite at it. He's using it to fund his real passion for horse racing." "Dude can't wait to retire from his side gig that pays the bills and focus on his true love, he's gonna retire the second his prime is done," said a fan hilariously in the context of the recent social media video where Jokic unintentionally blurted his retirement plans during a question about Yang Hansen. "He was not this emotional when he won the title!" "Winning an NBA championship was just his job; horses are life." "The best basketball player in the world would trade 4 NBA titles for a horse race win at some random goat track in Serbia." Nobody is claiming Jokic was not happy when he won the championship; he was ecstatic. He jumped in the swimming pool with his team, flooded the locker room floors with champagne, and whatnot. But he did not seem as emotionally fulfilled as he does when his horse wins a race. Nikola Jokic's Agent Spotted With LeBron James, Rich Paul While the former NBA Finals MVP went viral after this horse race in Serbia, just a few hours before that, his agent was spotted on a boat with LeBron James and his agent, Rich Paul, in Saint Tropez, France. Misko Raznatovic, the Serbian agent, posted a picture with LeBron James and his crew, and the caption hinted that something's brewing on their end. "The summer of 2025 is the perfect time to make big plans for the fall of 2026!" he wrote in the caption. Since LeBron James is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the NBA next summer, it is predicted that by the end of fall 2026, James will have decided if he's playing elsewhere in the NBA for another season or if he is retiring. This photo hints that James could become a Denver Nuggets player next fall. Will we get to see Nikola Jokic and LeBron James as teammates before he retires? Let us know what you think about this potential duo in the comments story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Jul 28, 2025, where it first appeared.
