Taylor Swift sends cease and desist after Kanye West's explicit false claims go viral online

Express Tribune11-04-2025

Taylor Swift has reportedly initiated legal proceedings against Kanye West following a series of crude and unverified social media posts in which the rapper made sexually explicit claims about her and fellow pop stars Harry Styles and Justin Bieber.
According to Daily Mail, the Grammy-winning singer's legal team sent West a cease-and-desist letter after he alleged in a since-deleted post that Swift had engaged in a sexual encounter with both Styles and Bieber. In the post, shared on April 8, West wrote, 'Justin Bieber and Harry Styles f##### Taylor Swift from both sides and didn't call me,' and added, 'I'm mad I haven't f##### Taylor Swift … yet.'

Swift's legal representatives condemned the comments as 'false, defamatory, and amounting to sexual harassment,' arguing that the intent was to harm her reputation and career. A source cited by the Daily Mail stated, 'This time he has gone too far. His claims are not just false, they are defamatory. This isn't just [West] gossiping. This is [West] sexually harassing a woman, defaming her and intending to cause harm to her and to her career.'
The fallout from the incident has also reportedly sparked a personal response from Swift's partner, NFL star Travis Kelce, who, according to the outlet, is 'furious' and wishes to confront West directly.
Both Harry Styles and Justin Bieber have denied the allegations, with a source close to Bieber calling the claims '100 percent untrue.' Styles is also reportedly prepared to support Swift in any potential legal proceedings.
This development marks the latest chapter in the longstanding feud between Swift and West, which began in 2009 when he interrupted her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. The rivalry has seen several public flare-ups since, including West's controversial lyrics about Swift in his 2016 track Famous.

Timbaland launches AI-generated artist TaTa under new company Stage Zero

Grammy-winning producer Timbaland has announced the launch of a new AI-driven entertainment company, Stage Zero, and introduced its first AI-generated artist, TaTa. The artist, depicted as a pink-haired virtual performer, will represent what Timbaland describes as a new genre: 'A-pop, artificial pop.' Photo: Rolling Stone Stage Zero co-founder Rocky Mudaliar told Rolling Stone that TaTa marks an early step in redefining pop music through AI. Timbaland, who now serves as creative director at Suno—an AI music tool—said he became interested in the technology after uploading his unfinished demos and being captivated by the AI-generated voice responses. 'It came to a point where I'm like, 'Yo, this voice, it's amazing.'' While humans will remain part of the creative process behind TaTa's music, reactions have been divided. The music industry is still grappling with how AI fits into copyright law, with Suno already facing legal action from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for allegedly using copyrighted material to train its AI models. There is no confirmed release date for TaTa's first single, but Stage Zero plans to make her as lifelike as possible with an active online presence. Mudaliar believes public scepticism will wane over time, saying '[AI is] not going anywhere,' and comparing its rise to the acceptance of social media influencers.

Van Hunt's proposal to Halle Berry 'still floating', while she defends 'spinning' Mother's Day post

Halle Berry opens up about her relationship with Van Hunt, her thoughts on marriage, and reactions to a controversial Mother's Day post Halle Berry recently discussed her relationship with boyfriend Van Hunt, the couple's views on marriage, and the controversy surrounding her Mother's Day post in an appearance on Today with Jenna & Friends. In the candid interview, the Oscar-winning actress revealed that while her relationship with Hunt is thriving, she is taking her time with marriage, despite Hunt's proposal. Berry and Hunt, who have been together since 2020, shared a playful moment when Hunt revealed that he had already proposed to Berry. "I put out the proposal, and it's still on hold," Hunt joked, adding that the proposal was "floating out there" while they wait for Berry's decision. The 58-year-old actress responded with a laugh, explaining that marriage isn't a necessity for them to validate their love. She emphasized that both she and Hunt had been married before, and after multiple marriages, they are in no rush. 'We don't feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way,' Berry said, adding that when they do marry, it will be because they genuinely want to, not out of obligation. Regarding when they might tie the knot, Berry assured fans, 'I think we will get married just because, out of the people I've been married to, this is the person I should have married.' She hinted that it would happen 'soon,' but reiterated that their bond does not need a wedding certificate to be strong. Berry also addressed the backlash she received following her sultry Mother's Day post, in which she promoted her Let's Spin intimacy gel alongside Hunt. The video, caused a stir with some commenters questioning why Berry wasn't spending the day with her children. 'It's not 'Kid's Day,'' she responded, emphasizing that she had every right to enjoy her day how she saw fit. Berry, who has two children from previous relationships, said she believes it's important for mothers to take time for themselves and have their own celebrations. Though critics were vocal about the post, Berry remained firm in her stance, saying, 'If I want to be in bed and spin with my man, then that's what I'm going to do.' While Berry's relationship with Hunt is a key part of her life, she has consistently emphasized that her children and family are her top priorities. However, she also revealed how fulfilled she feels in her current romantic relationship, saying that it makes her a better mother. 'I feel happy in my life romantically, as a mother, as an artist,' Berry reflected. 'I'm a much better mother in this circumstance than I would have been had I stayed in a romantic relationship that didn't serve me.' As for her thoughts on marriage, it seems only a matter of time before the couple takes the next step, but on their terms, and in their own time.
