Huge update on anti-mass immigration protests planned for Australia - as popular politician throws his support behind the movement
Tens of thousands of patriotic Australians claim they will take to the streets on August 31 in capital cities across the country, just weeks after a 90,000-strong pro-Palestine rally shut down the Sydney Harbour Bridge and brought the CBD to an abrupt standstill, sparking chaotic scenes.
March for Australia is the group behind the rallies and has described itself as a 'grassroots coalition of nationalists, patriots, and everyday Australians'.
'Our streets have seen growing displays of anti-Australian hatred, foreign conflicts, and disintegrating trust, while mass migration has torn at the bonds that held our communities together,' its website states.
'This march is a stand for the people, culture, and nation that built Australia - and for our right to decide its future.'
The movement has already sparked a divisive reaction, led by former reality star/influencer Abbie Chatfield, who condemned the racist' and 'bigoted' rallies.
While little is known about those behind the group, organisers have quickly distanced themselves from the neo-Nazi National Socialist Network, White Australia and Thomas Sewell Uncensored.
As March for Australia prepares to share more details about the upcoming rallies, North Queensland-based federal MP Bob Katter is among the first prominent politicians to pledge his support.

'We will be throwing everything behind the Sunday march on August 31 against migration,' he said.
'Our race of people, our country, is drowning in a flood of immigration.
'Now surely, if you're going to bring people to this country, there should be some sort of integration factor.'
Katter added that an authority will be set up to represent the Australian people.
'The people of Australia are now in a rage and fury,' he said.
'And if you show contempt for the people of Australia, they will deal with you two-and-a-half years time at the next election.'
Katter also addressed rumours that the march is being hijacked by supremacist and neo-Nazi organisations.
'I want to make to make it clear, I will have nothing to do with hate,' he captioned the video.
'We must ensure that this March is for all Australians, not hijacked by anyone else.
'Australians must unite. This is our lifestyle, our culture and our future.'
Right-wing political commentator Rukshan Fernando has also pledged his support for the event.
'As a proud Australian I'm looking forward to marching at the end of the month with other fellow Australians,' he said earlier this week.
March for Australia this week shared a Q&A ahead of more details about rally locations to be unveiled on Friday.
The aim of the march is to address the federal government's ongoing mass migration policy.
'Due to the nature of how March for Australia developed, our organisers have come from a diverse range of political backgrounds,' the group explained.
'None of our organisers are associated with the National Socialist Network, White Australia, or Thomas Sewell Uncensored.
'Further to this, none of our organisers are associated with any Israeli, Zionist, Jewish, or Palestinian groups.
'Any attempts to hijack March For Australia for other issues, or to make it about any one group, are not in the spirit of the movement that we have taken custody of.'
The group also reiterated that its 'peaceful' rallies are not intended to incite hate or violence.
'We will assemble peacefully, to defend our flag, our people, and demand an end to mass immigration,' it continued.
'It would be very convenient for the government and the lobbies that push for endless migration into this country if this day turned violent; it would give them an easy excuse to dismiss the millions of Australians who want an end to mass immigration by labelling us as 'violent'.
The group has stressed that it doesn't sell merchandise, nor request donations.
'We don't want your money, just for you to show up with your Aussie flag,' it added.
Daily Mail has contacted March for Australia for further comment.
A Lowy Institute poll released in June found that more than half of Australians (53 per cent) believe the number of migrants coming into the country each year is 'too high', up five points from the previous year.
Another 38 per cent believed immigration levels were 'about right', while only 7 per cent thought they were 'too low'.

Chinese government lashes Australia's spy boss over warnings
China has accused Australian spies of operating in its country after the top Aussie spy boss accused Chinese spies of doing the same thing down under. China's Ministry of State Security hit back against ASIO director-general Mike Burgess' claim that Chinese citizens were spying in Australia. The statement was released by the Foreign Ministry's official WeChat account and accused Australian intelligence agencies of making groundless accusations. In July, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visited China in an attempt to normalise relations with Beijing after several tense years. However, a speech by Mr Burgess on July 31, in which he named China among the top three countries engaged in espionage against Australia, unsettled relations once more." Mr Burgess said ASIO had disrupted 24 'major espionage and foreign interference' operations within the last three years alone. 'Nation states are spying at unprecedented levels, with unprecedented sophistication,' he said. 'ASIO is seeing more Australians targeted – more aggressively – than ever before.' China's Ministry of State Security accused Australia of painting itself as the 'victim' while its spies operated within the country. 'Australian intelligence agencies advocated the "serious threat" posed by foreign espionage activities to Australia, and even packaged themselves as innocent "victims" in groundless accusations of "Chinese espionage threat",' the ministry said. 'In recent years, China's state security organs have successively cracked a number of espionage cases against China instigated by Australian intelligence agencies in accordance with the law, effectively safeguarding China's sovereignty, security and development interests.' Mr Burgess put the cost of espionage - including the theft of intellectual property resulting in lost revenue and responding to incidents - at $12.5billion in 2023/24. This included cyber spies stealing nearly $2billion of trade secrets and intellectual property from Australian companies. In particular, foreign agents had been targeting AUKUS and military technology secrets, he told a crowd in South Australia. 'Hackers stealing commercially sensitive information from one Australian exporter gave a foreign country a leg up in a subsequent contract negotiation, 'costing Australia hundreds of millions of dollars', Mr Burgess said. The director-general also revealed details of multiple espionage operations as he warned officials, businesses and the general public about interference threats and the impact of lax security. Australian Federal Police charged a Chinese national with reckless foreign interference early in August. The woman was accused of being tasked by China to spy on a Canberra Buddhist group. She was arrested under the Counter Foreign Interference Taskforce and now faces a maximum penalty of 15 years' imprisonment. In 2022, Russian spies were deported after an ASIO investigation found they were recruiting proxies and agents to obtain sensitive information. 'You would be genuinely shocked by the number and names of countries trying to steal our secrets', Mr Burgess said. 'In this year's annual threat assessment, I called out these types of activities and put perpetrators on notice by stating, "we are watching, and we have zero tolerance". 'Anyone who thinks it is acceptable to monitor, intimidate and potentially repatriate members of our diaspora communities should never underestimate our capabilities and resolve.'

Pro-trans activists clash with police at explosive women's rights protest
A 'sex-based women's rights ' protest has erupted as counter-protesters supporting transgender rights faced off with police. Protesters associated with Women's Voices Australia had gathered on the steps of Victorian Parliament House in Melbourne on Saturday. The group, which frequently uses the slogan 'biology isn't bigotry', prompted a demonstration from pro-trans activists who marched through the CBD to the building. The almost 100-strong counter-protest reached parliament at 11am before being pushed away by police officers who sparked an altercation. In footage from the scene, people dressed in black with their faces covered could be heard yelling slogans, including 'all cops are Nazis' as they faced off with authorities. Individuals were seen jostling with officers, throwing various items including an umbrella and flares at police. At least four people have been arrested so far. It is understood pepper spray was also deployed to bring demonstrators under control. Protesters could be seen holding signs opposing 'TERFascists' – TERF is an acronym for trans-exclusionary radical feminist Victoria Police were on high alert for the protest since yesterday after neo-Nazis threatened to hijack the action. Pro-trans protesters had also encouraged demonstrators to interfere with journalists. On Saturday, some members of the group could be seen using umbrellas to block TV news cameras and allegedly launched one at a journalist. 'Victoria Police has a completely impartial role when policing protests, prioritising public safety for all, keeping the peace, and preventing clashes,' a police spokesman said. 'As always, police respect the right for people to protest peacefully, however we have zero tolerance for those who threaten community or police safety.' Women's Voices Australia previously protested in April following the passage of anti-vilification laws in Victoria. During the earlier protest, four officers were injured after protesters threw various objects and missiles at police Protesters also attempted to block intersections while carrying wooden pallets. Women's Voices Australia organiser Jasmine Sussex affirmed on Friday the protest would go ahead. 'Women have had enough of angry men claiming special gender identity hijacking women's sex based rights. We won't be silenced!' she said. 'Threatening middle-aged women who refuse to be dehumanised as cervix havers is dumb politics.'

SNP and Labour spending row as Nationalists claim £100bn 'wasted' since general election
It comes after figures released earlier this week showed that £91.4bn in tax receipts was raised in Scotland last year, with £117.6 billion forked out in public spending. The SNP and Labour are in a spending row after the Nationalists claimed that the UK Government has wasted £100 billion since the general election. New SNP research says Labour has wasted the billions in lost revenues from tax evasion, Brexit, Private Finance Initiative (PFI) schemes, nuclear power stations and High Speed Rail 2 (HS2). But Labour hit back, saying "these back of a fag packet numbers are nonsense" and blasting the SNP for having "squandered that money and wasted millions on ferries which have never sailed and a prison which is ten times over budget". This means the Scotland spends £26bn - 11.6 per cent - more than it brings in via tax. The UK as a whole spends 5.1 per cent more than it brings in. SNP Scotland Office spokesperson Stephen Gethins said: 'The eye watering £100 billion figure is a combination of economic self-harm and incompetence – Westminster has truly become a Wastemonster. This £100 billion of Westminster waste exposes the raw reality of a Britain that is bust and broken – a Brexit Britain that Scotland is paying a heavier and heavier price for. 'From the crippling costs of being isolated outside the European Union, to the ongoing price of Labour's botched PFIs, to a Westminster system that treats economic development outside the South-East of England as an afterthought – Scotland's potential and our prosperity will always be wasted by Westminster. 'For years, Westminster politicians have lectured those of us in Scotland about sound financial management – this research gives £100 billion reasons why they are in no position to lecture our country on economic competence." The bulk of the alleged waste came from Brexit and tax avoidance. The Nationalists said that £46.8bn had been wasted on the tax gap - which is the difference between expected and actual tax collected by HMRC. The party also cited a recent reported from the Centre of European Reform think tank which said the lost tax revenue because of Brexit was £40bn. Labour MP for Central Ayrshire Alan Gemmell said: "In a week when the SNP's plans for £14bn of cuts to Scottish public services have been laid bare, these back of a fag packet numbers from John Swinney are nonsense. The Labour UK Government has provided more funding for Scotland than at any point in the history of devolution, £9.1bn extra over the next three years. "The SNP have squandered that money and wasted millions on ferries which have never sailed and a prison which is ten times over budget. Their incompetence has left 1 in 6 Scots on an NHS waiting list and 10,000 children in temporary accommodation." The cost of the Glen Sannox and Glen Rosa ferries rose to £460m earlier this year - more than four times the £97m contract. The new Barlinnie jail in Glasgow is set to cost £1bn, despite original estimates saying it would only be £100m.
