Editor's note: This article contains SPOILERS for the season 17 finale of .
Jewels Sparkles, Lexi Love, Onya Nurve, and Sam Star fought their way to land a spot at the RuPaul's Drag Race season 17 finale — where they had a chance to be crowned America's Next Drag Superstar, cash in the grand prize of $200,000, and take over the reign over Mama Ru's Queendom from global superstar and 2024 Out100 honoree Nymphia Wind.
For the second year in a row, the Drag Race finale took place on the newly-updated mainstage and runway of the competition — not at a theater, with a big live audience, which had become a tradition for the flagship series. Still, every single queen in the season 17 cast got to walk the runway one last time, which was then followed by a sickening RuPaul performance to "Good Luck and Don't F%k it Up."

Jewels Sparkles kicked off the night with a hilarious performance putting the ding in din-a-ling. After making Drag Race fans laugh all season long with her confessionals, performances, and zingers, Jewels proved that she's a bona fide superstar.

When asked by Mama Ru what it would mean for Jewels to win the title of America's Next Drag Superstar, she talked about the struggles that the Latine community is currently facing in the U.S. and shared the beautiful message that she's a product of immigration.

Another fabulous performance from Lexi Love skating through the competition? Duh! If anyone is "gon' come for a classic," that would be a big mistake. Huge.

Mama Ru asked Lexi to talk to her younger self, and it was impossible not to get emotional during this segment. It was also lovely to see that Lexi's chosen family was in the audience to support her — driving home the message of the series that we, as queer people, get to choose our family.

Charisma, uniqueness, NURVE, and talent: This queen has it all!
Onya Nurve steamrolled the competition from start to finish, delivering another memorable performance to show… well, prove that it do take Nurve.

Mama Ru then spoke to Onya's incredibly supportive parents, who were emotional already, and got everyone else teary-eyed as well. Drag Race, like always, bringing families together.

This endearing finale number proved that stardom was always on sight for the fabulous Sam Star. She sparkled her way through the performance and made her way into our hearts with that talent and charisma.

Meeting Sam's loved ones was also a lovely moment. Seeing a queen come from a supportive family and being her most authentic self at such an early age… that never gets old!

The global phenomenon herself, Nymphia Wind, shuts it all down with her step-down look to crown the next queen who'll reign supreme in Mama Ru's queendom.
The top 2 queens of the season are announced, and it all comes down to this:
Jewels Sparkles versus Onya Nurve. And what's the lip sync song, you may ask? Well…
MTV
Jewels Sparkles and Onya Nurve lip syncing for the crown at the RuPaul's Drag Race season 17 finale.
You read that right: "Abracadabra" by Lady Gaga is the official song for the Drag Race season 17 lip sync for the crown. And every gay person on the planet screamed as RuPaul declared that the top 2 finalists would lip sync to Gaga's latest hit.
The lip sync battle between Jewels and Onya was FIERCE. In the end, though, only one could be crowned America's Next Drag Superstar.

It's official: Onya Nurve is the crowned queen of RuPaul's Drag Race season 17!
Throughout this competition, Onya won the singing challenge, the Snatch Game, an acting challenge, and the stand-up comedy challenge — a total of four maxi challenges, more than any of the other finalists.
Meanwhile, Onya only had to lip sync for her life once, ironically also against Jewels Sparkles, which led to a double shantay for the two queens. At the finale, though, only one of them could emerge victorious… and Onya snatched that crown after an entire season of hard work and perseverance.
MTV
Onya Nurve announced the winner of RuPaul's Drag Race season 17.
Condragulations to this fierce cast of queens, to the dazzling top 4 finalists, and a grand finale that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very end. Cheers to another herstoric season of Drag Race, and to the newly-crowned America's Next Drag Superstar!

Danity Kane's Dawn Richard Testifies in Diddy Trial, Claims He Tried to Hit Cassie With Hot Skillet

Former Danity Kane singer Dawn Richard took the stand in the trial of Sean 'Diddy' Combs on Friday, May 16. Richard, 41, was sworn in late on Friday shortly before court adjourned for the day. The prosecution asked her about an alleged incident in 2009 where she saw Diddy, 55, threatening Cassie in his Los Angeles home. 'He came downstairs screaming, belligerent, asking where his food was and continued to hit her in the head and kick her on the ground in front of us,' Richard claimed, noting that she was visiting Diddy and was in the kitchen with Cassie, 38, during the alleged attack. 'He came downstairs angry and was saying, 'Where the f*** was his eggs' and he was telling Cassie she never gets anything right and where the f*** was his food,' Richard alleged. 'And he came over to the skillet with the eggs in it and tried to hit her over the head, and she fell to the ground.' Diddy Trial 1st Week Ends With Cassie Cross-Examination, Dawn Richard Testimony Richard claimed Diddy continued to beat Cassie while she was on the floor then 'proceeded to take his arm around her neck and dragged her by the hair up the stairs.' The following day, Diddy allegedly invited Richard and her Dirty Money bandmate Kalenna Harper to record with him in the studio, where he told them the attack they'd both seen was 'passion.' Richard further claimed he threatened them, saying, 'People who say something can end up missing.' After Richard finished her testimony, Diddy's attorney Marc Agnifilo asked the judge to strike it from the record, arguing that it does not support the charge of sex trafficking. The prosecution, meanwhile, has argued that Diddy's alleged abuse created a culture that allowed him to carry out more serious crimes. Richard starred on Diddy's MTV reality show Making the Band 3 from 2005 to 2006 and was a member of the girl group Danity Kane alongside Aubrey O'Day, D. Woods, Shannon Bex and Aundrea Fimbres. Days before Diddy's arrest last year, Richard filed a lawsuit accusing him of manipulating, terrorizing and sexually abusing her. She also claimed that she witnessed him physically abusing ex-girlfriend Cassie (real name Casandra Ventura). In her suit, Richard alleged that Diddy abused her by forcing her to rehearse 48 hours at a time without sleep, which led to dehydration and fatigue that caused her to develop rashes. She also claimed that he promised to advance her singing career if she complied with his demands. Diddy Sued by Former 'Making the Band' Star Sara Rivers: Every Allegation From the Show's Alums Richard further alleged that Diddy demanded she come to his home in Miami, where he appeared only wearing underwear. After she asked him to put his clothes on, Diddy allegedly yelled at her, 'This is my f***ing house!' She also claimed he touched her inappropriately after barging into her dressing room at his recording studio and once locked her in a car for two hours as she screamed for help. Richard's lawsuit included additional claims that she saw Diddy harm other people in front of her, including his late girlfriend Kim Porter in 2005. Years later, Richard claimed she saw Diddy throw Cassie against a wall before choking her in his Los Angeles home. Diddy denied Richard's allegations in a September 2024 statement shared via his attorney Erica Wolff. 'Mr. Combs is shocked and disappointed by this lawsuit. In an attempt to rewrite history, Dawn Richard has now manufactured a series of false claims all in the hopes of trying to get a payday — conveniently timed to coincide with her album release and press tour,' Wolff told Us. 'If Ms. Richard had such a negative experience with Making the Band and Danity Kane, she would not have chosen to continue working directly with Mr. Combs for Dirty Money, nor would she have returned for the Making the Band reboot in 2020 or agreed to be featured on The Love Album last year. It's unfortunate that Ms. Richard has cast their 20-year friendship aside to try and get money from him, but Mr. Combs is confidently standing on truth and looks forward to proving that in court.' Danity Kane's Dawn Richard Reacts to Diddy's Arrest and Indictment Diddy was arrested in September 2024 and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and has denied all of the allegations against him. 'We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney's Office,'Agnifilo said in a statement at the time. 'He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.' Danity Kane's Dawn Richard Sues Diddy, Accuses Him of Brutality, Sexual Abuse and Manipulation Since his arrest, Diddy has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His four requests for bail were denied by Judge Arun Subramanian. Before Richard took the stand this week, Cassie testified for four days about her relationship with Diddy, which lasted off and on from 2007 to 2018. Cassie also filed a lawsuit against the rapper in November 2023, accusing him of physical and sexual abuse throughout their relationship. He denied her allegations at the time, and they settled the suit out of court one day later. During her testimony, Cassie revealed that they settled for $20 million. Aaron Judge praised by Hall of Famer as model for future hitters

Aaron Judge praised by Hall of Famer as model for future hitters originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Aaron Judge just snagged his second American League Player of the Month award this season, and Hall of Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez says it's no surprise. Judge, he noted, stands alone among hitters in how seamlessly he's blended old-school hitting instincts with the new wave of analytics-driven baseball. Advertisement 'Judge is the only guy who's been able to make the transition between pitching and analytics,' Martinez said on 'He's evolving with the way baseball is going, and he'll have a feast with a lot of immature pitchers making mistakes around the strike zone.' New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge stands in the Edmondson-Imagn Images The Yankees slugger has been a force this year, combining raw power with an uncanny ability to adapt. His latest Player of the Month honor, earned after a torrid stretch at the plate, underscores how he's refined his approach in an era where pitchers throw harder, spin rates climb, and defensive shifts adjust by the millimeter. Judge's evolution isn't just about brute strength. He's dominating the chess match between the hitter and the pitcher. Advertisement He reads pitchers' tendencies, capitalizes on mistakes, and leverages data to find the most hittable pitches. This savvy is critical when facing younger, less experienced pitchers who struggle with command and leave balls over the plate. Martinez's praise highlights a key aspect of Judge's game that is underappreciated. He has the rare combination of physical talent and mental agility. While many hitters struggle to keep up with the sport's technological changes, Judge thrives in that environment. If Martinez's prediction holds true, Judge is set to feast on mistakes and maintain his dominance as pitchers try—and most often fail—to find the strike zone against him. And Judge will most likely join Martinez in Cooperstown when he's down dominating the game.
