Horror as elderly woman left bleeding after attack in park by ‘gang of girls'
A pensioner was hospitalised with a head injury following an alleged attack by a group of girls. A woman was found by cops and paramedics 'bleeding' on the floor at Sutton Park in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, on Wednesday.
The incident, reports say, took place close to a play area with the girls allegedly involved inside the play area at some point. A 'group of aggressive girls' were seen hitting an 'old lady' at around 7.30pm on June 18, a witness said.
Another witness said they saw the incident unfold and called it 'disgusting', Birmingham Live reported. 'Shouting in front of my daughter, and other children,' they said. 'Disgusting behaviour.'
They added: 'Saw the older women on the floor at one point. I saw the women holding her head with tissue, think it was bleeding. Know police got called though hope she is okay.'
The incident is now being investigated, West Midlands Police has confirmed. The Mirror has approached the force for an update, along with West Midlands Ambulance Service, which was reported to have no record of the alleged incident.
An earlier statement by West Midlands Police said: 'We were called to reports of disorder involving a group of women close to Banners Gate Lodge, Sutton Park, on Wednesday [June 18], shortly after 7:40pm."
'One woman, in her 70s, was taken to hospital with a head injury. We are investigating and people with information should contact us via 101 quoting crime number 20/278984/25.'
Sutton Park is one of the largest urban parks in Europe, according to Birmingham City Council. It is a National Nature Reserve and designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The council said the park has "open heathland, woodlands, seven lakes, wetlands, and marshes - each with its own rich variety of plants and wildlife, some rarely seen in the region". Cattle can be seen grazing on the land along with wild ponies.

'My mum dogsat for me but she wrecked my house so I'm going no contact'
She even chucked the dog's bed out into the mud outside and made herself at home. When you've got a pet, you sometimes have to rely on your loved ones for a bit of help. However, one woman took this too far when minding her son's Great Dane - and it left him furious. Posting his story anonymously on Reddit in 2022, the man revealed that he and his wife had recently moved into their first home together. The couple were off to a music festival and asked his mum to watch their pet pooch. The son said that he paid his mum in advance for the five-day dogsitting stint because she "needed the money". But when the couple got home, they were horrified to find that his mother had wrecked their new home, The Mirror reports. The man claims his mum painted every room, hung up her own artwork, and tossed his beloved pet's bed into the mud outside. He also alleged that his mum's boyfriend had a spare key cut - and he thinks the older couple may have nicked some of his wife's clothes. Posting on the social media forum, he said: "Last week, my wife and I travelled to a music festival for about 5-6 days. I hired my mum (she needed the money, I needed a dogsitter) to take care of things while we were away for an agreed-upon price. "We cleaned the house prior to leaving, left her with strict instructions for what to do with our Great Dane, stocked the fridge, wrote the WiFi and desktop passwords down for her, and pre-paid her so she'd have some money. "Fast forward to yesterday, we arrived to find lots of things had been done to our home and it sent me into a fit. My wife and I are 30-somethings who just bought our very first house together, and it was bought [and] remodelled and to our liking." Furious that his mother had taken it upon herself to make huge changes to their new home, he laid out all the illicit updates she had made. He wrote: "Every wall in the house had been painted with a colour that did not match our normal paint scheme. The job was also incomplete and patchy in most areas. The previous paint was totally fine, and only seven months old! "[There were missing electrical outlet covers, [and I] still don't know why. [There were over] 100 cigarette butts in my rose potted plant out the front, and several items were missing or moved. "Pictures [had been] hung [and there were] holes in walls. We did not intend on hanging anything yet until we decided on where we wanted things. "A six-foot ladder was laid on vinyl records, destroying three of them in the process, our indoor dog bed was thrown in the mud, [and there was] duct tape found over the motion detectors and Ring doorbell. "[A] spare house key [was] made by my mum's boyfriend. Now I feel like I must change my locks. "Not to mention the whole reason I needed her in the first place: the dog! He'd been left out back seemingly the entire time, barely fed, and his dog bed is caked in mud and rain - I feel it necessary to toss it in the bin now." The enraged son admitted he "lost his cool" with his mum and her boyfriend after they wrecked his home. But, shockingly, his mother just thinks he's "ungrateful". Feeling "gaslit" by his own mum, he changed the locks and seems set on cutting off all contact with her. He continued: "Naturally, I lost my head and my cool. I immediately started yelling about the fact that this is not their home. It was not okay for them to treat our home like it was theirs, doing whatever flight-or-fancy entered their brains. "The entire time, my mother refused to accept responsibility for the actions, began to cry, and called me 'ungrateful'. I feel like I'm being gaslit by my own mother for being upset. "Our relationship is now tarnished even further than it was, and my wife doesn't want her back here. The scenario has played in my mind countless times and I feel completely awful about yelling at her, but it's the complete lack of accepting responsibility on her part that has me fuming, on top of acting like nothing was even amiss." Many suggested he do some more digging into what happened when he was at the festival, as there may have been more to discover. One person said: "Covering the ring doorbell was to keep you from knowing who was in your house. I'd talk to the neighbors. Pronto. What did they see?" Another replied: "If you won't sue her, send her an invoice to cover all the damage to your walls, the cost for hiring painters, the missing items, a new dog bed, a vet check up, missing items, any damage to your cameras, a locksmith, etc. "This makes me so f***ing angry. Mum took own life when kids were at school after doctor said she was not suicidal
Amy Manning had been to see her GP about her suicidal thoughts after experiencing financial difficulties. A hairdresser killed herself while her children were at school - after a doctor said she would not commit suicide as she wanted to be there for her kids. Tragic mum Amy Manning was experiencing financial difficulties and had been dealing with the Citizen's Advice Bureau to try and solve her money troubles. The 32-year-old had been diagnosed with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder and had also been abusing cocaine in the lead up to her shock death. The Mirror reports an inquest into her death heard her doctor told her she was not "actively suicidal" and would therefore not put herself in danger. But she was found dead in her Somerset home by her police officer partner. Her doctor explained how the parent had 'chronic suicidal thoughts' but was not considered 'actively suicidal'. They said she had a desire to remain alive for her children, something the medic considered a 'protective factor'. Her partner Sam Plumley said she had begun drinking more. He also said she was struggling with her mental health before she took her own life. Explaining how she went to Amy's home and found her unresponsive, before "hugging her" as he for paramedics to arrive. Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Ms Manning's death. They said they found nothing "sufficiently alarming that leads us to believe any criminal offence or anything undue was done by Sam". Assistant Coroner Stephen Cavell, who recorded a verdict of suicide, issued a report detailing how the "committed mother" with a "good work ethic" had a strong good relationship with her family, before he noted her EUPD diagnosis. Following her death, the woman's father Daniel Manning organised a charity rave event supporting CALM and Winston's Wish in honour of his 'beautiful daughter' in December. What happened to Louise Kam's killers as Netflix airs Body in the Bin documentary
Body in the Bin: The Murder of Louise Kam tells the harrowing tale of a 71-year-old murdered woman whose body was found inside a wheelie bin A chilling new documentary delves into the horrifying murder of a woman whose body was shockingly found inside a wheelie bin, focusing on the brutal death of Louise Kam. The documentary, Body in the Bin: The Murder of Louise Kam, premiered on Netflix earlier this month and unravels the distressing story of the 71-year-old's savage death after she became the victim of a sickening scam. Louise, a prosperous businesswoman, was swindled out of millions before she was killed. She had been led to believe that she had been offered millions of pounds for properties by a man alleging to have a wealthy girlfriend, and that she could use the money to settle a mortgage and buy a property for her children. However, the man - a kebab shop worker - was not who he claimed to be. Below we delve into Louise's life and death, how her murderers were apprehended and what happened to them, as reported by Birmingham Live. Who was Louise Kam? Louise, from Potters Bar in Hertfordshire, was a successful businesswoman. She owned a property investment portfolio, including a £1.3 million house in Barnet and a shop with three flats in Willesden. Louise vanished in July 2021 and was later discovered discarded in a rubbish bin. Kusai Al-Jundi, 25, of Harrow, London, and Romanian Mohamed El-Abboud, 28, were convicted of her murder in 2023. The court was informed that Al-Jundi spent months befriending Louise, attempting to trick her into handing over control of two properties she owned in Willesden and East Barnet, as well as signing a Lasting Power of Attorney document, with the aim of gaining control over her finances. In the meantime, El-Abboud moved into her house in Barnet. How were Louise Kam's killers apprehended? CCTV footage showed Louise entering the property in Barnet on July 26 2021, but she was never seen alive again. She had been strangled with an electrical cord from a hairdryer, before her body was wrapped in a duvet and discarded in a rubbish bin. Al-Jundi later arranged for the bin to be collected and taken to his family home, hoping it would end up in landfill. He also sent messages from Louise's phone, telling her loved ones she had suddenly travelled to China. However, Louise's son found her disappearance so out of character that he reported her missing to the police. When officers searched the property, they discovered the discarded hairdryer in a hedge and found her body still in the wheelie bin concealed under turf at Al-Jundi's home. DNA and blood evidence then linked the two men to the murder. What happened to Louise Kam's killers? Both Al-Jundi and El-Abboud were found guilty by a jury following a trial at the Old Bailey in 2023. Judge Mark Lucraft KC sentenced each of them to life with a minimum of 35 years in prison each. Judge Lucraft KC stated during sentencing that if they were ever released, both would be liable for recall to prison for the rest of their lives. He said: "In relation to murder the only sentence that can be passed on you is one of life imprisonment,and that is the sentence I will pass. The issue for this Court is the minimum term that you will each serve before you are first considered for release. "When it comes to the minimum term that you will serve, I make it plain that I am not ordering that you are to be released at the end of it. "That will be a matter for the Parole Board. Only when the minimum term has been served can the Parole Board decide whether it is safe to release you.
