Op Sindoor only paused, still in progress, says Navy chief Tripathi
Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, said that Operation Sindoor is on a pause, but it is an operation in progress.
Speaking to ANI, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi said, "The Operation Sindoor is under pause, it is still underway. As a Naval Chief, I will reserve my comments on this. It's an operation in progress."
On counter-drone systems, he said that non-contact warfare will stay, and this area of weapons and equipment was not catered to 10-12 years ago.
"It is undeniable that non-contact warfare is going to stay. In it, drones and loitering munitions and therefore, defence against them in terms of counter-drone systems, there is a whole series of weapons and equipment that one had probably not catered for 10-12 years ago," he said on Thursday.
Earlier, Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, accompanied by Chairman of Solar Industries India Limited, Satyanarayan Nuwal, reviewed the manufacturing processes of various defence products at the firm's headquarters in Nagpur on Thursday.
Speaking to ANI, the Navy Chief lauded the products and progress made by Solar Industries India Ltd. He added that there needs to be synergy between the public and private sectors, as the latter is new in defence production.
"It's really eye-opening to see what progress has been made by Solar (Solar Group) in the last 14-15 years. As far as the synergy between the public and private sectors in the defence ecosystem is concerned, it is a must because some public sector companies have been working in this field for many decades, and private companies are relatively new. So there is a need for them to talk to each other, learn from each other," Admiral Tripathi told ANI.
Chairman of Solar Industries India Ltd, Satyanarayan Nuwal, said that they showed the Navy Chief their drones and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). They also showed the navy officials their Counter-Unmanned Aerial System, Bhargavastra.
Talking to ANI, Satyanarayan Nuwal said, "Today, we mainly showed our facility with drones and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). We showed the composite manufacturing unit of UAS. We also showed Bhargavastra (Counter-Unmanned Aerial System) to them...This counter-drone system is a significant thing...Considering present situations, we learned that the biggest need is for long-range missiles. We have already presented a proposal in this regard...

"I pay humble tributes to him": Nitin Patel expresses grief over Vijay Rupani's demise in Air India plane crash
Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], June 14 (ANI): Gujarat's former Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel on Friday expressed deep anguish over the loss of life of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Speaking to the mediapersons, Patel said, 'Hearing the news and watching it on TV has pained lakhs and crores of Gujaratis and crores of BJP workers. Vijay Rupani was a CM with whom I received the opportunity to work as a Deputy CM. We worked for the state like brothers. On behalf of all of us, I pay humble tributes to him.' Former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani was among the 242 passengers on the Air India flight bound for London that crashed soon after taking off from Ahmedabad, killing 241 people on board. One passenger survived the crash. Earlier in the day, Adani Group Chairperson Gautam Adani visited Vijay Rupani's residence. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda also expressed sorrow and grief over the tragic demise of Vijay Rupani. On Thursday, the Al-171 Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 aeroplane bound for London's Gatwick had crashed shortly after it took off from the Ahmedabad International Airport. The airlines said only one out of the 242 people on board the aircraft survived the crash. The aircraft was piloted by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, a Line Training Captain with 8,200 hours of flying experience, assisted by First Officer Clive Kundar, who had logged 1,100 flying hours. According to Air Traffic Control (ATC), the aircraft departed from Ahmedabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC) from runway 23. It made a Mayday call to ATC, but thereafter, the aircraft did not respond to the calls. Immediately after departing from Runway 23, the aircraft crashed outside the airport perimeter, and heavy black smoke began emanating from the accident site. Vishwashkumar Ramesh miraculously survived the Air India plane crash a day ago, in which 241 other passengers died. Kumar, a British national of Indian origin, was seated in row 11, at the left window seat in the flight's economy class section, right behind an emergency exit. There were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national on board the crashed plane, airline authorities said. (ANI)

UP government takes National Family Benefit Scheme process online, people to receive benefits within 75 days
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 14 (ANI): The beneficiaries under the National Family Benefit Scheme will now be able to avail the benefits of the scheme while sitting at home, as the Uttar Pradesh government has taken the entire process from application to payment online. Under this new system, the UP government has made sure that the assistance amount is made available to the eligible applicants within 75 days from the date of application, according to a statement. In case the payment is not received within the deadline, the payment will be made immediately after taking approval from the committee at the district level itself, removing the hassle of taking approval at the state level in case of delays. To implement the scheme effectively. The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government has directed District Social Welfare Officers to prepare a final list of eligible beneficiaries will be prepared and present it before the approval committee within seven days. After this, the list will be uploaded on the portal with a digital signature, and the amount will be transferred to the Aadhar-linked bank account through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS), according to the statement. Even in the absence of a budget, the District Magistrate can ensure payment by withdrawing funds under the Treasury rules, so that there is no delay in getting the benefit to the beneficiaries. Special provisions have also been made for immediate assistance in emergency situations. The District Social Welfare Officer and the District Magistrate will verify the application through digital signature and payment will be made immediately after approval. To resolve any problem related to the scheme, helpline number 14568 has been started in the command centre at the headquarters level, where beneficiaries can register their complaints. Yogi Adityanath-led government has also emphasised on wide publicity of the scheme. The list of beneficiaries and eligibility conditions will be publicly displayed on the Tehsil days. Information will also be conveyed to the people through hoardings, posters and handbills, so that more and more needy people can take advantage of this scheme. Improvements are also being made at the technical level regarding the scheme, the statement added. By making the National Family Benefit Scheme transparent and fast, the Yogi government is ensuring that no eligible family is deprived of help. In the financial year 2024-25, the Yogi government has extended the benefit of the scheme to 1,08,883 destitute families, in which the government has spent Rs 326.64 crore, the statement added. The scheme provides financial assistance to families living below the poverty line (BPL) when the primary breadwinner, aged 18-59, passes away. (ANI)
