Linda Yaccarino steps down as CEO of X after two years
While announcing her decision on X, Yaccarino expressed gratitude to Musk for giving her the responsibility of protecting free speech and "transforming X into the Everything App."
In a post on X, Yaccarino stated, "After two incredible years, I've decided to step down as CEO of X. When @elonmusk and I first spoke of his vision for X, I knew it would be the opportunity of a lifetime to carry out the extraordinary mission of this company. I'm immensely grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App. I'm incredibly proud of the X team - the historic business turn around we have accomplished together has been nothing short of remarkable."
"We started with the critical early work necessary to prioritize the safety of our users--especially children, and to restore advertiser confidence. This team has worked relentlessly from groundbreaking innovations like Community Notes, and, soon, X Money to bringing the most iconic voices and content to the platform. Now, the best is yet to come as X enters a new chapter with @xai," she added.
She called X a "truly digital town square" for all voices and the world's "most powerful culture signal" and stressed that they would not have been able to achieve that without the support of their users, business partners and the "most innovative team."
In the post on X, she further wrote, "X is truly a digital town square for all voices and the world's most powerful culture signal. We couldn't have achieved that without the support of our users, business partners, and the most innovative team in the world. I'll be cheering you all on as you continue to change the world. As always, I'll see you on X."
She joined X, then known as Twitter, in 2023, about six months after Musk's takeover of the social media platform. Prior to joining X, she served as the chair of NBCUniversal Media's global advertising and partnerships, The Hill reported.
While she served as X's CEO, several changes were brought to the platform, including its rebranding from Twitter to X, and numerous crises. Advertisers fled the site after Musk's takeover of X, as he began introducing various content moderation policies and restoring previously banned accounts, including that of US President Donald Trump.
Her efforts to bring advertisers back to the platform were occasionally derailed by Musk. In 2023, Musk slammed advertisers who decided to end their spending in the platform over a report that X was placing ads next to white nationalist content, telling them to "go f**k yourself," The Hill reported.
Her departure from X comes as Musk wants to combine the social media company with his artificial intelligence (AI) firm xAI, The Hill reported. Earlier in March, Elon Musk said that xAI had acquired X in a USD 45 billion deal.

White House denies Pakistan media reports on potential Trump visit
Washington DC : The White House on Friday (local time) shunned media reports circling around US President Donald Trump's visit to Pakistan, stating that there has been no such presidential travel plans. "A trip to Pakistan has not been scheduled at this time", the White House confirmed to ANI. The White House has not announced or confirmed any such travel arrangements, contrary to what has been reported by news channels in Pakistan. There have been reports circulating in Pakistani news outlets regarding potential presidential travel plans. Earlier in the day, some local television news channels reported, citing sources, that Trump was expected to visit Pakistan in September. The news channels said that Trump would also visit India after arriving in Islamabad in September. The channels later withdrew their reports, Dawn reported. Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan told Dawn, "We have no information about this matter." George W Bush was the last US president to visit Pakistan in 2006. As about Trump's travel plans, US White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday (local time) said that he will visit Scotland from July 25-July 29. Leavitt said that Trump is set to hold trade-related talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer during the visit. "US President Donald Trump will travel to Scotland, where he will visit both Turnberry and Aberdine from July 25-July 29. During the visit, Trump will meet again with Prime Minister Starmer to refine the great trade deal that was brokered between the United States and the United Kingdom," she said. Leavitt further said that Trump and First Lady Melania will visit Windsor Castle to meet King Charles later this year. "And the President and the First Lady will travel to the United Kingdom for an official state visit from September 17-September 19 later this fall. This will mark a truly unprecedented second state visit for President Trump and he is honoured and looking forward to meeting with His Majesty the King at Windsor Castle," she said.

"Very close to a deal with India...we're in negotiation: US President Trump
Washington DC: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday hinted at reaching a new trade deal with India soon. While adding "maybe", he said that currently the US is in negotiations with India. Trump, while speaking to reporters during a bilateral meeting with Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, emphasised that August 1 will be a significant day, when a lot of money will come into his country. "... We've brought in over $100 billion. The tariffs haven't kicked in significantly, except for automobiles and steel. August 1st is when a very substantial money comes into our country. We've made deals with numerous places. We had one yesterday," Trump said. "We have another one (deal) coming up, maybe with India... We're in negotiation. When I send out a letter, that's a deal... The best deal we can make is to send out a letter, and the letter says that you'll pay 30%, 35%, 25%, 20%... We have some pretty good deals to announce... We're very close to a deal with India where they open it up," Trump added. The US President on Tuesday said the United States is working on a deal that gives it access to the Indian markets. He also announced a new trade deal with Indonesia, after which the latter will face a reduced tariff rate of 19 per cent. Announcing progress on the India part, Trump stated, "We're going to have access into India. And you have to understand, we had no access into any of these countries. Our people couldn't go in. And now we're getting access because of what we're doing with the tariffs." The ongoing bilateral trade talks (BTA) negotiations by India and the United States (US) are progressing as per the decisions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, said the government officials on Tuesday. "Our team is back in the US for carrying out the fifth round of negotiations on the bilateral trade agreement, so that agreement is progressing as per the decisions of our leaders and as per the terms of reference decided between the two countries," the government officials told ANI.

Trump says Coca-Cola agreed to use "Real Cane Sugar" in US
Washington, DC: US President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that Coca-Cola has agreed to use real cane sugar in its product at his suggestion, terming it a "good move". However, the soft drink manufacturing company is yet to confirm the change. Trump, in his post on Truth Social, claimed that the beverage giant has agreed to the same. "I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. I'd like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them -- You'll see. It's just better!" the US President said. Notably, Donald Trump's affinity for Coke is a longstanding one. Prior to Trump's oath-taking ceremony on January 15, Tesla CEO Elon Musk called the inventor of Diet Coke a 'genius' as his love for Coke is also well known. Musk shared an image of Trump with Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey as the latter gifted him a custom commemorative bottle of Diet Coke. "The inventor of Diet Coke is a genius," the post from Musk read. Trump's Deputy Director of Communications, Margo Martin, also shared a photo of the glass bottle and a note accompanying it. The glass bottle features a unique label showcasing an image of the White House along with the slogan, "The Inauguration of the President of the United States Donald J. Trump."
