The secret flight 'hack' every traveller needs to know before takeoff: 'The best tip I've heard in a long time'

Daily Mail4 days ago
In a world full of viral travel hacks promising to revolutionise your next trip, it's rare to stumble upon one that's actually worth its salt.
But this week, Australian model and popular TikTok star Olivia Molly Rogers, shared a simple yet genius tip that's got travellers talking.
It also requires no apps, no downloads, and no tech skills.
The former Miss Universe Australia revealed the clever tip she recently picked up from a friend. It involves using your flight number in a way most people had no idea was even possible.
'A friend of mine recently told me a really helpful travel hack, so I'm going to share it with you,' Olivia told her followers in the now-viral video.
Before heading to the airport, simply text your flight number to a friend or family member, or even just to yourself.
The magic happens when your phone automatically hyperlinks the number.
Then, simply tap the link, and you can unlock a real-time flight tracker with all the key details you need at your fingertips.

The former Miss Universe Australia (pictured) took to TikTok to reveal a technique using your flight number in a way most people had no idea was even possible
'Once you click the link, it will come up with 'Preview Flight' and 'Copy Flight Code'. Click on Preview Flight,' Olivia explained while demonstrating the hack on-screen.
'It literally tells you everything you need to know and it updates live, even while you're mid-flight.'
This clever text trick gives vacationers a live overview of their flight including departure and arrival airports, gate information, flight duration, real-time updates mid-air and even the baggage claim carousel number.
'It tells you where you're taking off, what gate you're landing at, and underneath the duration… it'll tell you where your baggage claim is,' Olivia said, calling the feature a 'gamechanger.'
For anyone who has ever fumbled with boarding passes, searched airport screens for gate updates, or wandered the arrivals hall in search of the right carousel, this hack is a no-brainer.
The smart trick also works on most smartphones, across any airline, and in any country.
It taps into live flight tracking data that's already baked into your phone's operating system, without the need to download separate apps or trawl through airline websites.
'It doesn't matter what airline you are flying with or what country you're flying in,' Olivia assured her viewers.

Her followers were stunned by the simplicity of the hack, with many commenting they'd never heard of it before but couldn't wait to try it on their next trip.
'Works in notes app as well, no need to send yourself a message,' informed one.
'Omg best hack!' another commented.
'The next iOS update will have the ability to track from Lock Screen too,' a follower added to the list echoing even more hand travel tips.
'Yes! I use this all the time, love it,' agreed another.
From packing cubes to passport wallets, the internet is flooded with so-called 'must-have' travel tips, but few have proved as effortless and helpful as this one.
'Saving this for when I go to Europe next year!' a future traveller wrote.
So, as well as packing your passport, send yourself a text - it might just be the smartest thing you do before takeoff.

Coldplay kiss cam company Astronomer hires Chris Martin's ex Gwyneth Paltrow for tongue-in-cheek video

GWYNETH Paltrow was yesterday hired by crisis-hit firm Astronomer following the fall-out from the "affair saga" at her ex's Chris Martin's Coldplay gig. The A-lister actress turned influencer took questions on the scandal in a PR move described by fans as "genius". 4 4 Astronomer's chief executive Andy Byron was caught canoodling with his head of human resources Kristin Cabot at a gig - causing a social media frenzy because of their embarrassed response to appearing on the big screen. Chris Martin - Paltrow's ex-husband and father to her two children - called the couple out at the time for "having an affair" because of their fraught reaction. Humiliated Byron and Cabot quit their jobs at the tech company as a result of the scandal. Now, Paltrow has made a cameo on Astronomer's LinkedIn page, starring as a " temporary spokesperson". The Shakespeare In Love star, wearing a blue shirt with corporate music playing in the background, said: "Thank you for your interest in Astronomer. "Hi, I'm Gwyneth Paltrow. "I've been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300 plus employees at Astronomer. "Astronomer has got a lot of questions in the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common ones." An on-screen question starting "what the actual f***" was abruptly cut off just as Paltrow reappeared on screen. She said: "Yes! Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow." New vid of Coldplay kiss cam CEO Andy Byron shows 'cheating' pair standing out in crowd in plain view of Chris Martin She then quipped: "We've been thrilled to see so many people suddenly interested in data workflow automation." Another question began, "How is your social media team holding…" before The Talented Mr. Ripley star, with a twinkle in her eye, went on: "Yes! There is still space available at our Beyond Analytics event this September!" The celeb's on-screen cameo went down a storm with fans. Kristin Cabot was seen for the first time since the kiss cam scandal that led to her resignation last Thursday. The software company confirmed the married 52-year-old stepped down from her role, just over a week after she was caught with the company's boss at Boston's Gillette Stadium. The status of her marriage remains unknown. Her husband, Andrew Cabot, 60, an heir to the £11billion Cabot family fortune, nowhere to be seen at their home. Byron had been CEO of Astronomer - valued at over $1.3billion - since July 2023. The company said in a statement: "As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. "Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met. "Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted."
