GRSE delivers survey vessel Ikshak to Indian Navy
Kolkata, Aug 14 (PTI) Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd on Thursday delivered survey vessel 'Ikshak' to the Indian Navy in Kolkata, a statement said.
'Ikshak', meaning guide, is the third in a series of four large survey vessels being built by GRSE, it said.
The Sandhayak-class of survey vessels or SVLs are the largest such platforms built in India and operated by the Navy, the statement said.
The second ship of this class, INS Nirdeshak, was delivered on October 8, 2024, while the first one, INS Sandhayak, was handed over to the Navy on December 4, 2023, it said.
These ships help keep the Navy supplied with vital survey data crucial for operational purposes, it said, adding that the maps and charts prepared on the basis of this survey data are also used by commercial ships.
'With advanced equipment on board, the SVLs of this class are capable of full-scale coastal and deep-water hydrographic survey of port and harbour approaches as well as the determination of navigation channels and routes," the statement said.
'In addition, these Sandhayak-class SVLs can undertake surveys of maritime limits and collect oceanographic and geographical data for defence applications, adding muscle to India's maritime capabilities," it said.
The GRSE emphasised that these ships can each carry a helicopter, participate in low-intensity combat and function as hospital ships. PTI AMR SOM

Navy adds Ikshak, a state-of-the-art warship for surveys and coastal missions
The Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) delivered to the Indian navy yet another warship, 'Ikshak', on Thursday, August 14, 2025. The delivery underscored once again the shipyard's ability to build and deliver advanced warships.'Ikshak' – the name stands for 'Guide' – is the third in a series of four Survey Vessels (Large) being built by the GRSE. Fully designed by GRSE to meet the requirements of the Indian Navy, Ikshak was built using 'Integrated Construction' technology. FM radio stations awarded for 43 cities in Phase-III auction

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) announced the results of the e-auction for the third batch of Private FM Radio Phase III channels, with bids running into several crores in key markets. The lowest bid in the auction was of Rs 29 lakh for the 91.1 MHz frequency in Silchar in Assam. According to the official notification issued on Wednesday, prominent media groups including DB Corp Ltd, Sapphire Media Ltd, Malar Publications Ltd, The Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing Co. Ltd. and The Malayala Manorama Co. Pvt. Ltd. emerged as major winners, bagging prime frequencies across multiple cities. HT Media Ltd secured the 93.7 MHz frequency in Moradabad for Rs 2.8 crore. Malar Publications Ltd. and Kal Radio Ltd. won the 91.1 MHz and 91.9 MHz frequencies respectively for Rs 1.93 crore each in Nagercoil and Kanyakumari. DB Corp Ltd. bagged multiple frequencies, including Rs 1.49 crore each for Bhuj and Gandhidham, and Rs 1.28 crore for Daman. Similarly, Malar Publications placed winning bids in Coonoor, Dindigul, Karur, Neyveli, Rajapalayam, Thanjavur, Tiruvannamalai and Vaniyambadi, with prices ranging from Rs 1.31 crore to Rs 1.68 crore.
