Beautiful mother of two is shot dead inside Mississippi McDonald's
Kianna Jackson, 25, was killed around 7 p.m. Monday, June 16, at the McDonald's on Stribling Lane in Brandon, just outside Jackson.
Police say she was shot by 27-year-old Jhonterryes Dampier who then turned the weapon on himself. It is believed that her and Dampier shared a five-year-old daughter and a three-year-old son.
He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but died two days later.
Jackson's relatives have put together a GoFundMe to cover funeral and burial expenses, with any leftover donations going toward a trust fund for her children.
'She was a cherished mother… a beloved daughter, sister and friend,' the family wrote in the description of the fundraiser.
'As we navigate this painful time, we want to honor Kianna's life with the memorial and funeral service she deserves.'
Justin Taylor, who owns a local TV mounting business, said he was at the couple's home just two weeks before the shooting - and sensed something was off.
He had been called over by Dampier to install a television in their living room and recalled feeling uneasy about the dynamic between the two, though he didn't say anything at the time.
'I can tell the dynamic between them wasn't right but that just wasn't my business… now it resulted to this,' he said in the post.
In a Facebook post following the tragedy, Taylor expressed deep frustration, saying the situation had been weighing on him - especially since he had just been in close contact with them.
Another mother, Billie Shantay McCune-Kidd, recalled a heartbreaking moment of connection with Jackson just minutes before the fatal shooting.
In a Facebook post, she said their children had been playing together at a nearby park earlier that evening, and Jackson introduced herself and suggested exchanging numbers so the kids could have a future playdate.
Jackson had mentioned she was planning to return to school for nursing and was heading to get food with her children after the park.
McCune-Kidd said her niece wanted to go with them, but they had other plans and went their separate ways.
Just five minutes later, Jackson was dead.
McCune-Kidd said she was delayed by a car issue, and when she arrived near the Chick-fil-A and McDonald's, she saw the police and fire trucks - not realizing at first that the woman she'd just met had been killed.
The investigation remains ongoing
She described Jackson as 'so sweet,' with two 'precious' children, and urged others to support the GoFundMe set up in her memory, noting that the young mother's death was not only sudden and tragic, but left behind two children now facing a lifetime without her.
Police have not yet released a motive, but say the investigation is ongoing.

Hollyoaks actor Callum Kerr has urged friends of his late mother not attend his stepfather's funeral after the pair are believed to have been killed in a murder-suicide. Andrew Searle, 65, and his wife Dawn, 56, were found dead at their home in Les Pequies, south west France by a horrified neighbour on February 6 this year. Mrs Searle was discovered in her pyjamas outside their house with a head injury and jewellery scattered around her body. Her husband, a former financial investigator, was found dead inside the house, hanging from a radiator. Earlier this year, a prosecutor in charge of the case concluded there was no evidence that another person was involved in their deaths, meaning one of the spouses murdered the other before dying by suicide. Mr Kerr has now urged friends of his mother not to attend Mr Searle's funeral, saying it would be 'inappropriate' for her memory to be associated with the man 'who may have been responsible for her death'. He said in a statement on social media: 'In the absence of any evidence suggesting third-party involvement in the tragic death of our mother, Dawn Kerr, the prevailing hypothesis remains that of a murder-suicide. 'Our mother was killed by multiple blows to the head, and Andrew was found deceased by hanging. His injuries are consistent with self-hanging, and no defensive wounds were found on his body. There is also no evidence whatsoever of any third party's involvement at this stage. Mr Kerr said in a post on social media it would be 'inappropriate' for her memory to be associated with the man 'who may have been responsible for her death' 'While the official investigation is still ongoing, we cannot ignore the circumstances as they stand,' the statement continued. Back in February, investigators reportedly believed that a marital crime followed by a suicide was probable, after examinations in the house and garden failed to uncover evidence of a third party. It was initially believed Mrs Searle had tried to run away from an attacker before she was caught and battered to death. There was also evidence of a frantic search inside the property, with drawers and cupboards left open and furniture upended. But inquiry sources said that Mrs Searle 'would have certainly been heard by near neighbours' if she had been murdered in the garden. Post-mortem examination results also showed there were no defensive wounds on Mr Searle, nor any forensic evidence suggesting persons unknown touched him or his wife. The couple had started a new life at a villa in picturesque Les Pesquiès, north of Toulouse, after moving from Musselburgh in East Lothian, Scotland, ten years ago. Less than 24 hours before he was found dead, CCTV footage appeared to show Mr Searle entering a tobacconist in Villefranche-de-Rouergue. It is understood that he spent at least 20 years working with the police and Serious Fraud Office targeting organised crime groups involved in financial crimes such as money laundering.
