Congress, CPI lack moral right to criticise RSS: Andhra BJP vice-president S Vishnuvardhan Reddy
In contrast, he lauded the RSS, established in 1925, for its selfless service during national crises and its role in nurturing leaders. He highlighted the organisation's enduring legacy of nation-building, and leadership development.
Vishnuvardhan also criticized the CPI, noting that despite being founded in the same year as the RSS, it has lost relevance, and fragmented into numerous factions, struggling to maintain its existence. He argued that the Congress and Communist parties lack the moral ground to criticise the RSS, given its steadfast commitment to national service.
Commenting on Modi's acknowledgment of the RSS during the Independence Day address, he called it a commendable gesture. He described the RSS as a nationalist organisation.

We will have to fight a battle for freedom once again to protect our agriculture: MLC Satej Patil
Kolhapur: Once upon a time, our country fought for its freedom. Now, we will have to fight a battle for freedom once again to protect our agriculture. Farmers should not fall prey to the lure of money, said Congress leader for legislative council MLC Satej Patil on Monday. Patil was addressing the 'dhadak' morcha at Ajara in Kolhapur district on behalf of Shaktipeeth Highway Virodhi Sangharsh Samiti. The morcha was held in Ajara town from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue to Ajara Tehsildar office in presence of large number of farmers. Slogans like 'Ekach Jidd, Shaktipeeth Radd', 'Shaktipeeth Radd Jhalach Pahije' were raised on the occasion. "We never oppose projects which are necessary. However, we are opposing this project as it will destroy agriculture for the sake of contractors. After Ganesh festival, the fight against Shaktipeeth will be intensified. A conspiracy is being hatched to take away agriculture from farmers and put thousands of acres of agriculture in the hands of industrialists. Let us all remain united against the unnecessary Shaktipeeth project," added Patil. Former MP Raju Shetti said, "The lands that farmers brought under irrigation with great difficulty will not be given to thieves. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Investire per il futuro? Govt schools lose nearly 5 lakh students in three years
Bengaluru: Student enrolment in govt schools across the state has steadily declined in the post-Covid years, data tabled in the legislative council shows. Statistics from the department of school education and literacy Monday revealed that admissions in state-run primary and high schools have dropped considerably over the past three academic years. Referring to the data, ML Anil Kumar of Congress said student enrolment had fallen by 4.7 lakh. "While student enrolment during 2022-23 was at 45.4 lakh, it reduced to 42.9 lakh. The same numbers during 2024-25 plummeted to 40.7 lakh," Kumar said. "One of the major issues that affects enrolment is the absence of pre-primary sections in govt schools," Bangarappa said. "We have now started about 5,000 LKG-UKG classes besides introducing bilingual education. We are hopeful that these measures will help draw more students to govt schools." Bangarappa said Karnataka Public Schools — which provide continuous schooling from kindergarten to pre-university — were intended to boost enrolments. "The govt has been setting up these schools in rural areas on priority," he said. "We have received proposals to shut schools with very low student strength. But we have not closed a single primary school on grounds of poor admissions. I assure the House that we will not close any such schools in the future either," he said. However, contradicting the minister's remarks, a high school at Hulikal, Tumakuru district, was shut down in 2023-24 due to inadequate student numbers. Bangarappa also said the govt will complete recruitment of teachers in Kalyana Karnataka region within four months of publication of internal reservation quota. Replying to a calling attention by BJP's CT Ravi in the legislative council, Bangarappa said there are 16,577 teacher posts vacant in govt primary schools in the Kalyana Karnataka and more than 33,527 vacancies in other parts of the state. The govt had authorised filling of 4,882 posts, but the process was suspended due to pending internal reservation issues. Stalin lists questions to ECI, wants SIR scrapped
Chennai: A day after chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar defended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voters list, chief minister M K Stalin said ECI's defence raised several questions rather than providing answers. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "How can there be so many deletions of eligible voters when house-to-house enumeration was undertaken," Stalin asked ECI on X, listing out six more questions, on Monday. Saying enrolment of new voters was less, Stalin asked whether young voters were enumerated. "Has any database been compiled to show how many youngsters who turned 18 on the qualifying date were included," he asked. He said the procedure for inquiry and two appeals, under Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, may exclude a huge number of voters in the upcoming Bihar elections. "Is ECI going to address this issue," he asked. "Will ECI take these practical difficulties into account while conducting SIR in other states," he asked. Recalling DMK's petition to ECI on July 17 to delete the deceased votes, Stalin asked when it will be done. He also asked what prevented ECI from enlisting Aadhaar as one of the acceptable documents to prove a voter's claim. He concluded by asking, "If free and fair elections are truly the aim of ECI, why can't it be more transparent and voter-friendly?" Stalin is the latest to join India bloc leaders in criticising ECI for its defence of SIR. While Congress leader Rahul Gandhi flagged a series of issues, including missing voters and the addition of "ghost voters" during SIR in Bihar, other leaders such as Karnataka chief minister K Siddaramaiah also highlighted discrepancies in the data of ECI. Stalin has demanded ECI scrap SIR in other states, particularly TN, and urged DMK functionaries to be wary of addition or deletion of voters in the state.
