50 women change-makers receive special awards
The Telangana Chamber of Events Industry (TCEI) celebrated the achievements of 50 women at the prestigious Stri Shakti Awards 2025, held at HICC in Madhapur here on Monday. The event recognised women who have made significant contributions to various sectors, including hospitality, creative arts and social change.
Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, and Women and Child Welfare D. Anasuya (Seethakka), who was the chief guest at the event, felicitated the inspiring women, highlighting the State government's emphasis on empowering women through initiatives like the Indira Mahila Shakti Scheme.
Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan emphasised the importance of the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, particularly for women. The awards ceremony featured four categories: Stri Ratna, Stri Murti, Stri Shakti, and a special SHG Women segment. Prominent women leaders from across India received the highest honour, the Stri Ratna Award.
CEO of SERP Divya Devarajan expressed pride in partnering with TCEI to recognise grassroot level women entrepreneurs and announced that SERP had engaged TCEI to train women as event managers, providing them with essential skills to succeed in the event industry.

To boost employment, Telangana mulls reviving self-help groups (SHGs) for disabled; plans include microloans & skill training
HYDERABAD: In an effort to empower people with disabilities, the state govt is looking at reviving self-help groups for people with disablities which would provide them self-employment opportunities as well as improve their financial status. There are around 10 lakh disabled persons residing in the state, according to the 2011 Census data. Similar to women's self-help groups (SHGs), plans are afoot to set up these SHGs for the disabled where priority would be given to savings. While there were about 70,000 such groups in the past, many have become inactive after 2016. The govt plans to reactivate these groups as well as establish new ones. Guidelines are currently being prepared under the supervision of Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP). Officials are working on modalities such as membership numbers, monthly savings amounts and collection procedures in areas lacking banking facilities. Once all considerations are finalised, guidelines are expected to be issued. In the past, each group consisted of six to seven members. To join a group, an Aadhaar card and a local address will be mandatory. In urban areas, staff from Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas will provide assistance. These SHGs would help with microloans for agricultural and non-agricultural activities. Support for technical and vocational training, marketing facilities and subsidised financing will also be available, officials said.

Plans afoot to modernise 18.4K km rural roads: Minister Danasari Anasuya
HYDERABAD: Panchayat Raj & Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya alias Seethakka on Tuesday instructed officials to prepare an action plan to invite tenders for the modernisation of rural roads under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) within 15 days. During a review meeting with the officials on various developmental works, the minister revealed the government's plan to modernise 18,472 km of rural roads. 'Of this, 7,947 km will be modernised in the first phase.' She also revealed that the government will soon issue guidelines on the HAM to be adopted for this project. 'Karnataka, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh governments have adopted the HAM mode for executing various works. We will send teams of officials to those states to study their model,' she added. During the meeting, it was revealed that the government has already sanctioned Rs 1,800 crore for various works under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). 'This year, priority is being given to the construction of Anganwadi centres and gram panchayat buildings under this scheme. The government intends to construct 1,440 gram panchayat buildings and 1,440 Anganwadi buildings this year,' she said while directing the officials to cancel works that were not grounded for a long time. Revealing that the file pertaining to the transfer of Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDO) reached the Chief Minister's Office and payment of vehicle allowance is with the Finance department, the minister said that these files will be cleared soon.

Minister Seethakka sets monthly targets for Panchayati Raj Dept
Hyderabad, June 17 (UNI) Telangana Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Dr Dhanasari Anasuya Seethakka, on Tuesday directed officials of the department to set monthly targets and work systematically towards their achievement to ensure the timely implementation of development and welfare activities. Chairing a high-level review meeting here, the Minister reviewed the progress of ongoing schemes such as Mission Bhagiratha, Indira Mahila Shakti, Stree Nidhi, and the newly introduced HUM Policy for rural road construction. She also addressed pending employee issues and praised the efforts of departmental staff in delivering grassroots services, an official statement said. Minister Seethakka congratulated N Sridhar on taking charge as the Principal Secretary of the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department, expressing confidence that under his leadership, the department would scale new heights. She recalled Sridhar's contributions as the former Warangal Collector and CMD of Singareni Collieries, particularly in her own constituency, and said his appointment would strengthen interdepartmental coordination and help secure more funding for rural initiatives. She emphasised that the department, which represents over 2.5 crore people, should function like a family—from the minister to the multipurpose worker—working together with a shared vision of village development. Highlighting the importance of rural road infrastructure, the Minister stated that 18,472 kilometres of roads would be modernised under the HUM Policy, with 7,947 kilometres to be developed in the first phase. She added that Rs 1,800 crore worth of works had already been sanctioned and instructed officials to prepare an action plan to invite tenders within the next 15 days. The guidelines for the HUM project would be released shortly, and teams had been dispatched to Maharashtra and Karnataka to study best practices for effective implementation. Seethakka noted that rural roads, once neglected, would now surpass even urban roads in quality through this policy. She also announced that this year, 1,440 Gram Panchayat buildings and 1,440 Anganwadi centres would be constructed across the state—two for each mandal. These projects are expected to be taken up under a state-wide "Work Fair," which aims to generate employment while creating durable community assets. The Minister said that the government had resolved many staff-related issues since coming to power, including the regular payment of salaries to 93,000 village-level employees through the green channel. She further informed that the file regarding MPDO transfers was with the Chief Minister, and the vehicle allowance file had reached the Finance Department, with approvals expected soon. Principal Secretary N Sridhar, addressing the meeting, said that the Panchayati Raj Department plays a vital role in empowering rural communities and women through schemes like Indira Mahila Shakti. He said the department delivers essential services from the village to the district level and pledged to hold focused review meetings with each section to enhance overall performance. Sridhar urged everyone to work in unison to bring a good name to the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Seethakka.
