Disgraced former MMA star and presidency hopeful Conor McGregor has hire a team of top Miami lawyers to contest claims he sexually assaulted a woman in Florida.
The Sunday World can reveal McGregor's team include a former federal prosecutor who represented the U.S. Department of Justice, a top criminal defence lawyer and a former prosecutor at the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office.
McGregor (37) is being sued before Florida Southern District Court over allegations from a women, identified in court papers as Jane Doe, that he attempted to orally and anally sexually assault her in a restroom in the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida on June 9 and 10, 2023.
Ms Doe (49) claims she had her face slammed against a bathroom stall and was put in an armlock by the 'intoxicated' fighter.
The case has been held up for several months as Doe's attorney unsuccessfully sought to have a summons issued in the case served on McGregor.
However, according to court filings, McGregor waived service of the summons on Monday last with a flurry of notices of attorney appearances in the case being filed later in the day by attorneys from prestigious Miami law firm Gelber Schachter & Greenberg.
The firm's profile states: 'Whether a bet-the-company case or the thorniest of predicaments, Gelber Schachter & Greenberg provides clients with top-quality legal advice and helps create strategies that will allow them to get back to their businesses and their lives.'
Daniel Walsh
Three attorneys from the firm came on record in the case as acting for McGregor on Monday.
They include:
Gerald Greenberg, a partner with the firm, who specialises in both white collar criminal matters and high-stakes commercial litigation has been honoured for multiple years as one the 'Top 100' lawyers in Miami by Super Lawyers.
Barbara R. Llanes, also a partner in the firm, is described as a seasoned former federal prosecutor who represented the U.S. Department of Justice for more than eleven years, domestically and in Latin America, in international investigations and complex criminal matters.
Daniel Walsh, an associate with the firm, who spent four and a half years as a prosecutor at the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office, finishing his tenure in the Career Criminal and Robbery Unit.
Barbara R. Llanes
As a prosecutor, he tried more than thirty jury trials, serving as lead counsel in the majority of those cases
Legal sources say its expected there will be further filings in the coming weeks.
McGregor's team have previously described the claims as baseless.
McGregor's attorney, Barbara Llanes, said 'After a thorough investigation at the time, the State's Attorney concluded there was no case to pursue.
'Almost two years and at least three lawyers later the plaintiff has a new false story. We are confident that this case too will be dismissed.'
The developments in the US case come during a turbulent week for McGregor – who last month withdrew his application to introduce new evidence in his appeal against the finding of a High Court jury after he lost a civil rape trial in which it was alleged he raped Nikita Hand.
He was the subject of a social media frenzy last weekend when he was photographed kissing a mystery brunette woman on a beach in Fort Lauderdale.
With his partner Dee - whom he shares four children with and has been engaged to since 2020 - nowhere in sight, questions were raised about their relationship.
Gerald Greenberg
Rapper Azealia Banks then added to the controversy as she took to X - formerly known as Twitter - to accuse McGregor of sexual harassment.
The 34-year-old shared photos purported to show McGregor posing naked which she said had he sent to her unprompted.
Ms Banks, who is known for her outspoken views, took aim at McGregor — writing 'How you gonna send a b**ch a some crooked d**k pics then threaten her not to tell. @TheNotoriousMMA n**ga do you know who the f**k I am?'
McGregor and Devlin, however, appeared unfazed by the events of the week.
McGregor shared a clip of her on board a boat with him on Friday and another on X showing her rubbing his belly.

Hamish described his father as a "great man", who worked "very hard and very long each day". "He wore a jacket with a huge paint stain on the side of it everywhere. He managed this by leaning on a wall which was still wet with paint," he said. "He wore the jacket everywhere. To the shops, to the movies, to the beach." He urged mourners to "cherish" their families. "Be grateful, for they won't be there forever… Use the time you have wisely," he said. A gardai investigation into the circumstances of the deadly explosion continues. A total of six arrests have taken place but no charges have yet been brought against any individual.
