In one instance, a drone detected a suspicious vehicle in a remote desert area and relayed its coordinates to ground patrols, who quickly apprehended the suspects.
These drones are part of a sophisticated surveillance system that integrates artificial intelligence and thermal imaging, enabling authorities to identify and intercept violators in real time.
The campaign, titled 'No Hajj Without a Permit,' is central to the government's efforts to regulate the pilgrimage and ensure the safety of all participants.

Several individuals have been arrested in recent days for illegally transporting undocumented pilgrims. The Ministry of Interior confirmed that special seasonal committees have issued administrative penalties, including prison terms, fines of up to SR100,000 per violator, deportation of expatriates after serving their sentences, a 10-year re-entry ban, and the judicial seizure of vehicles used in these violations.
The ministry reiterated that performing Hajj requires a specific Hajj visa. Individuals on visit visas are strictly prohibited from undertaking the pilgrimage. International pilgrims must obtain Hajj visas through their respective Hajj Affairs offices in 80 countries or via the Nusuk Hajj platform, which facilitates applications from 126 nations.
In addition, the Ministry has announced fines of up to SR20,000 for anyone caught performing or attempting to perform Hajj without official authorization. These stringent measures come amid concerns over foreign visitors overstaying their visas with the intent to join the pilgrimage illegally.

Saudi Arabia bars 269,000 from Makkah over Hajj permit violations to prevent overcrowding
Medical team members evacuate a Muslim pilgrim, affected by the scorching heat, at the base of Mount Arafat, also known as Jabal al-Rahma or Mount of Mercy, during the annual Hajj pilgrimage on June 15, 2024. PHOTO: AFP Listen to article Saudi authorities have barred over 269,000 individuals from entering Mecca without the required permits ahead of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, officials announced on Sunday. The move is part of tightened efforts to manage crowds and prevent repeat tragedies linked to unauthorised pilgrims. Authorities say permit violations have historically contributed to overcrowding, often leading to fatalities. Last year, over 1,300 pilgrims died, many of them unregistered, as temperatures soared to a record 51.8°C. As Hajj officially begins this week, the Saudi Ministry of Health reported it has already treated 44 cases of heatstroke, with 1.4 million pilgrims having arrived in the kingdom so far. Although extreme temperatures are not forecast to reach last year's peak, they are expected to exceed 40°C during the pilgrimage. Deputy Health Minister Abdullah Asiri told AFP that officials were preparing for the "worst-case scenario." 'The focus is on heat-related illnesses because the Hajj coincides with extreme temperatures,' he said. In anticipation of potential health emergencies, the ministry has mobilised 50,000 medical and administrative personnel and allocated over 700 hospital beds equipped with ventilators for critical cases. Hajj is one of Islam's five pillars and is a religious obligation for all Muslims who are physically and financially capable. The pilgrimage this year coincides with Eid al-Adha, which will be observed on 6 June. The holiday commemorates the Quranic account of Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail in obedience to God's command. As Saudi Arabia enforces stricter regulations and boosts health infrastructure, officials are urging pilgrims to comply with safety measures to ensure a secure and spiritually fulfilling Hajj.

Seven Indian-backed terrorists killed in Balochistan operations
Listen to article Seven terrorists allegedly affiliated with the Indian-backed group Fitna al Hindustan were killed in two separate operations in Balochistan on June 2, 2025. An intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in the general area of Mach, Kachhi District, on the reported presence of Fitna al Hindustan terrorists, according to a statement issued by the military's media wing on Tuesday. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, "their troops effectively engaged the Fitna al Hindustan terrorists' location, and after an intense fire exchange, five Indian sponsored terrorists were sent to hell". In another IBO conducted in the general area of Margand, Kalat District, a Fitna al Hindustan terrorist hideout was busted and two Fitna al Hindustan terrorists were successfully neutralized, the statement added. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed Fitna al Hindustan terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities. Read: Pakistan labels TTP as 'Fitna al-Khawarij' to expose its true ideology Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of Indian sponsored terrorism from the country, and reaffirm the nation's unwavering resolve to bring the perpetrators of Indian sponsored terrorism and their facilitators to justice, said the ISPR. Earlier, the federal government had officially designated all terrorist groups operating in Balochistan as 'Fitna al Hindustan', accusing India of sponsoring a proxy war through these outfits. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Interior on Saturday, the move stems from 'the involvement of some organizations and groups in terrorist activities in Balochistan, which are detrimental to Islamic faith, the sovereignty of Pakistan, and its customary traditions'. The notification further stated that the new designation is intended to reflect 'the true nature and ideology' of these groups and their 'nefarious designs' sponsored by India. 'All government entities are directed to start the above practice immediately,' the notification said, underscoring a concerted effort to reframe the narrative around insurgent violence in the province. The announcement came as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accused India of escalating indirect aggression after what he described as its defeat in a recent security operation dubbed 'Marka-e-Haq'. Accusing India of intensifying a proxy terrorism campaign in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan, he said, 'India, after suffering strategic setbacks, has resorted to indirect aggression'. 'But Pakistan will thwart all such nefarious designs and stand resolute against Fitna al Hindustan and its proxies.'
