Gang convicted of stealing solid gold toilet named ‘America' (PHOTO)
Three men have been convicted of stealing a $6.4 million solid gold toilet, named 'America', from an English museum.
On Tuesday, the jury at Oxford Crown Court found James Sheen, Michael Jones, and Frederick Doe guilty of committing burglary at Blenheim Palace in 2019.
The fully functional 18-carat toilet created by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan 'offers a wink to the excesses of the art market but also evokes the American dream of opportunity for all,' according to the description from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.
More than 100,000 people queued to use the toilet after it was first installed in the Guggenheim in 2016, according to the museum. The artwork left the New York art scene a year later for Blenheim Palace in the UK.
Prosecutor Shan Saunders claimed that a gang of five broke into the palace in an early morning raid and disconnected the toilet from the mains, before absconding. The artwork was quickly 'broken up or melted down and sold,' he added, claiming that the gold has never been recovered.
'This was an audacious raid which had been carefully planned and executed – but those responsible were not careful enough, leaving a trail of evidence in the form of forensics, CCTV footage and phone data,' Saunders told the court.

'Insurrectionists carrying foreign flags are attacking immigration enforcement officers, while one half of America's political leadership has decided that border enforcement is evil,' Vice President J.D. Vance said in a statement on the weekend. 'Simple message to illegal aliens: leave now. You broke our laws to get here and you will be deported,' Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) wrote on X. Fox News late-night host Greg Gutfeld perhaps summed up the insanity best when he wrote on X, 'Trying to find a country to establish a sanctuary city where I can burn shit while waving my native country's flag, while violently demanding they don't send me back to the native country of the flag I am waving. Is there a country I can terrorize, then demand sympathy when they want me to leave?' The fireworks began on the morning of June 6 in Paramount, California when a Trump-authorized immigration raid was conducted within the Los Angeles Fashion District; two other raids occurred at a clothing wholesaler and a Home Depot. Protests erupted after over 100 people were arrested at the three locations. By nightfall, the Los Angeles police had authorized the use of less lethal munitions as the city was placed on tactical alert. As the violence spiraled out of control and the Los Angeles police chief admitted that his forces were 'overwhelmed,' Trump moved to nationalize the National Guard. This marked the first time a president had deployed a National Guard force without approval from a state's governor since the Selma to Montgomery marches in 1965. He also outlawed the use of masks at the protests – 'why do they need them?' – as 500 Marines were placed on standby. Predictably, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who accused Washington of overseeing a 'manufactured crisis,' went on to defend the illegal immigrants, calling Trump's federalization of the National Guard 'purposefully inflammatory.' LA Mayor Karen Bass was of the same opinion when it came to Trump's harsh crackdown on illegals. 'These tactics sow terror in our communities and disrupt basic principles of safety in our city,' she said Friday. 'We will not stand for this.' Trump was having none of it. In a post on Truth Social on Monday, the US leader demanded apologies from the California governor and Los Angeles mayor: 'Governor Gavin Newscum and 'Mayor' Bass should apologize to the people of Los Angeles for the absolutely horrible job that they have done, and this now includes the ongoing L.A. riots. These are not protesters, they are troublemakers and insurrectionists.' Trump is right, Newsom and Bass are clearly in the wrong, and this grand failure will undoubtedly play into the Republican Party's political fortunes if things continue the way they are. It's no secret that Democrats are fleeing California in droves, sick and tired of failed policies that have placed them and their families in a constant state of danger. Let's face it, once the political fallout reaches the Democratic voters' neighborhoods, it's game over. Although few voters on the left would admit it, thousands of erstwhile Biden supporters are coming around to the conclusion that many of the new arrivals are simply criminals and cold-blooded killers who should never have been granted entry into 'sanctuary cities' in the first place. Instead of keeping the asylum seekers on the Mexican side of the border, as the Trump administration had achieved, the Biden administration allowed millions of illegals into the country, where it has become almost impossible to track each individual case as initially intended. Now, every murder committed at the hands of an illegal immigrant will be additional ammunition for the Republican ticket. Incidentally, the mayhem that quickly ensued in Los Angeles brings to mind the violence that overwhelmed four blocks of Seattle, Washington during the 'summer of love' 2020 at the 'Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone' (CHAZ). Here, Antifa insurgents thought they could find peace and harmony in a state of anarchy – without order, without restraint, without any government oversight. After several days of living in this world of youthful delusion, after the predictable violence and killings began to occur as night fell, many of the rebels quickly gave up their doomed experiment and called the police for protection. Yet even to this day, there are millions of liberals who have come to associate law and order with outright tyranny, and those who would protect life and liberty with villainy. In their world, the members of law enforcement - while admitting to the inevitable bad apples in the ranks - have come to represent the worst form of oppression. At the same time, they willfully place an inordinate amount of trust and faith in the intentions of complete strangers who suddenly showed up on America's doorstep without invitation (many of whom are genuinely worthy of care and compassion). Thus, the Democratic leadership has relinquished their primary responsibilities to the American people – their political constituents – who it is their absolute duty to defend. How long will the Democrats continue to take the side of chaos and lawlessness over law enforcement?

Ukraine hit by another military corruption scandal
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has arrested several military officials for their alleged involvement in a corruption scheme that resulted in tens of thousands of defective mortar shells being sent to the front, thus compromising operations. Ukraine has long been notorious for its rampant corruption, a problem exacerbated when large military procurement orders began being placed. Complaints from frontline soldiers about subpar 120mm mortar shells began to pour in late last year. Service members claimed that only one in ten shells exploded due to a smorgasbord of problems, including wet powder and faulty fuses. Local media later reported that as many as 100,000 shells had been recalled, and that authorities had launched an investigation. In a statement on Tuesday, the SBU said that a defense plant in Dnepropetrovsk Region supplied the military with 120,000 mortar rounds unsuitable for combat use. Without identifying the facility, the agency said that it had detained four suspects, including the plant's director general, his deputy, as well as two military officials who were responsible for receiving the rounds and overseeing production. According to the SBU, the plant signed a contract with Ukraine's Defense Procurement Agency to produce 120,000 mortar shells. However, in some cases, the plant used 'low-quality materials and performed defective work' to produce the shells. This way, the agency continued, 'the organizers of the scheme tried to reduce the cost of production in order to get a greater profit from the state order.' Moreover, the military officials overseeing the process were involved in the scheme and deliberately 'turned a blind eye' to the defective batch of ammunition, the statement read. The defendants are now charged with aggravated obstruction of the military leading to severe consequences, and face 15 years in prison. Last year, several media reports indicated that the mortar shell crisis was only one facet of the difficulties in the Ukrainian defense industry, which was struggling to begin mass domestic production due to logistics and personnel issues. Corruption has also been a long-standing issue in Ukraine's defense sector, especially after the escalation of the conflict with Russia in 2022. Kiev's Western backers have acknowledged the problem, citing graft as a major obstacle to the country's EU integration. Earlier this week, US National Security Adviser Michael Waltz called for proper oversight of American aid to Kiev, calling Ukraine 'one of the most corrupt countries in the world.'

Tucker Carlson accuses Ukrainians of trying to kill Trump
Ukraine was involved in a plot to assassinate US President Donald Trump during his 2024 reelection campaign, American journalist Tucker Carlson has claimed. In September 2024, pro-Ukraine activist Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested after setting up a firing position with a rifle near Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was spotted by Secret Service agents before he could open fire and was detained following a brief manhunt. 'It's very obvious that the Ukrainians were involved in the attempted assassination on the golf course in Florida,' Carlson said on The Megyn Kelly Show on Tuesday. 'That guy definitely had some contact with Ukraine, for sure,' Kelly replied. 'He was in Ukraine!' Carlson emphasized. Kelly noted that Routh had been 'asking them' for heavy weaponry, including rocket-propelled grenades. Carlson agreed and suggested Kiev may have been involved in additional assassination plots. 'I know for a fact there were others who were a target of assassination attempts by the Ukrainian government,' he said, without providing further details. According to court documents from the Southern District of Florida, Routh – who is a convicted felon – had previously attempted, unsuccessfully, to enlist in Ukraine's armed forces in 2022. Despite this, he allegedly worked to recruit foreign volunteers for the Ukrainian military. Prosecutors allege that Routh attempted to purchase either a rocket-propelled grenade launcher or a Stinger man-portable air-defense missile from a Ukrainian associate. 'I need equipment so that Trump don't [sic] get elected,' he wrote in one of the encrypted messages cited in the case. Both weapons systems have seen extensive use in the Ukraine conflict. 'One missing would not be noticed,' Routh reportedly said in another message. In 2022, Routh took part in a rally in Kiev in support of Ukraine's Azov military unit, whose fighters were under siege by Russian forces in Mariupol at the time. The unit – which includes members with neo-Nazi and ultranationalist backgrounds – later stated that Routh 'has never had any connection to Azov.' In a social media post earlier this month, the president's son, Donald Trump Jr., criticized officials in Kiev for failing to alert U.S. authorities about Routh's attempts to obtain heavy weapons. The Florida incident came after a separate assassination attempt in July 2024, when a gunman opened fire during Trump's campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Trump was escorted from the stage after a bullet grazed his ear. One spectator was killed and several others were wounded. The shooter, later identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, was fatally shot by a Secret Service sniper.
