Coinbase shatters earnings estimates, quarterly profit rises from $36.13 to $1.43 billion

Coinbase Global reported a sharp rise in second-quarter profit on Thursday, as gains in its subscription and services business offset a dip in trading revenue. Net profit attributable to common stockholders rose to $1.43 billion, or $5.14 per share, in the three months ended June 30, compared with $36.13 million, or 14 cents apiece, a year earlier. Retail trading volumes remained sluggish in the second quarter as investor appetite remained muted amid regulatory and market uncertainty, despite a rebound in crypto prices. 24% rainfall deficit hits AP, 14 districts still await relief

1 2 Visakhapatnam: With half of this year's southwest monsoon season (June–Sept) over, only eight to ten districts in Andhra Pradesh have received normal rainfall. However, the wait for normal rainfall continues for more than 14 districts in the state. The rainfall deficit of 31 per cent witnessed in the first month (June) of the ongoing monsoon has slightly decreased in July as parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh (CAP) and Rayalaseema regions experienced moderate to heavy rainfall in the third week of July. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Andhra Pradesh recorded an average of 170.9 mm actual rainfall from June 1 to July 31, 2025, while the normal rainfall for this period is 225.2 mm, indicating a 24 per cent deficit across the state. The CAP region (18 districts and Yanam of Puducherry) received 217 mm against the normal 268.1 mm rainfall, reflecting a 19 per cent deficit. The Rayalaseema region (eight districts) recorded 117.6 mm compared to the normal 164.4 mm rainfall, translating to a 28 per cent deficit. A total of 14 districts (seven districts each in CAP and Rayalaseema) recorded a rainfall deficit between 20 per cent and 40 per cent from June 1 to July 31. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Writing in English Doesn't Have to Feel Hard Grammarly Learn More Undo Of the total 26 districts and Yanam in the state, all districts recorded deficit rainfall during the first half of the monsoon. Due to erratic rainfall in most parts of the state, kharif sowing (over 20 crops) has commenced slowly. As of July 30, the total area sown in the state is 13.48 lakh hectares, compared to the normal area of 31.16 lakh hectares, meaning only around 42 per cent of sowing has been completed. The early onset of the southwest monsoon on May 26, 2025, initially brought promising conditions, prompting farmers to prepare paddy nurseries and begin seeding. However, erratic rainfall has stalled kharif crop operations. Recent rains have somewhat pushed kharif activities forward. The weathermen said conditions are not favorable for rainfall in the next few days. Parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema may experience strong winds at speeds of 40–50 kmph over the next two days, with thunderstorms and lightning likely over coastal and Rayalaseema districts from July 3. If erratic rainfall continues for another month, standing crops may dry up, causing worry among farmers. "We are expecting good rainfall activity in August and September (the second half of the monsoon) and a good yield," said B Govind, a farmer from Anakapalle district.

Naidu to launch 'Annadata Sukhibhava' on Aug 2; Over 46 lakh farmers to benefit

Vijayawada: The state government is making all arrangements to launch 'Annadata Sukhibhava', a scheme aimed at providing cash incentives to farmers, on August 2, alongside the PM-Kisan scheme. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the scheme at Veerayapalem village under Darsi mandal of Prakasam district. As many as 46.85 lakh farmers will benefit from the scheme. While the state government is providing Rs 5,000 to each farmer in the first tranche, the Union government will disburse ₹2,000. In total, Annadata Sukhibhava aims to transfer Rs 20,000 to farmers in three instalments, inclusive of PM-Kisan benefits. During a review meeting held on Thursday with senior officials from the finance, revenue, water resources, and agriculture departments, the chief minister directed officials to ensure that every eligible farmer receives the financial support directly into their bank accounts. "For the NDA government, supporting farmers is not a burden but a responsibility," Naidu stated. Highlighting the fulfillment of another election promise, Naidu said the scheme's launch should be celebrated like a festival, with events at village secretariats, panchayats, mandal centres, and constituency centres. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo He criticised the previous government for dismantling administrative systems and causing financial instability. "We are rebuilding every system and working towards financial stability. The good work done should be effectively communicated to the public," he added, suggesting the use of the 'Mana Mitra' app for outreach. The state government has synchronised its disbursement with the Union government's payment to ensure that farmers can immediately use the funds for agricultural purposes. The state will provide Rs 5,000 each in the first and second instalments, and Rs 4,000 in the third, while the Union government will give Rs 2,000 in each phase. In the first phase alone, the Union government is spending Rs 831 crore, while the state is disbursing Rs 2,343 crore. Meanwhile, officials informed the chief minister that 59,750 grievances related to the scheme had been registered, of which 58,464 have already been resolved. A toll-free helpline (155251) has been set up to address any doubts or issues related to the scheme. Chief ecretary K Vijayanand, special chief secretary of agriculture B. Rajasekhar, CCLA special chief secretary Jayalakshmi, CM's psrincipal cecretary Muddada Ravichandra, finance principal secretary Piyush Kumar, CM's secretary Rajamouli, director of Agriculture department Dilli Rao, and district collectors participated in the review meeting.
