WWE WrestleMania 41 Results: Jade Cargill Destroys Naomi In Grudge Match

Forbes20-04-2025

Jade Cargill finally got her revenge on Naomi, and as an added bonus, she did it in resounding fashion on the grand stage of WWE WrestleMania 41.
The bout made history, too.
Before WrestleMania 41, the last non-title women's match at a WrestleMania happened all the way back at WrestleMania 22 in 2006. Even then, that bout, a Pillow Fight between Torrie Wilson and Candice Michelle, hardly qualified as a legitimate singles match. Prior to that, the lone other women's singles match without a title involved was at WrestleMania 16, a 'Cat Fight' between The Kat and Terri Runnels.
Women's wrestling has, thankfully, come a long way since then, and the WrestleMania 41 bout between Cargill and Naomi was proof positive of that.
En route to WWE's flagship show, Cargill vs. Naomi was one of the best built rivalries on the entire two-night event. Begun with a classic 'whodunit?' angle when Cargill was attacked last year, the revelation that Naomi, Cargill's supposed friend, was the attacker set the stage for a heated grudge match at WrestleMania 41.
That's exactly what WWE fans got inside Allegiant Stadium, with a short but sweet bout that ended in decisive fashion when Cargill demolished Naomi with a massive Jaded finisher.
Clearly, WWE decided to go with the most obvious possible outcome.
Cargill, after spending months on the sidelines, returned at Elimination Chamber and took out Naomi with an unforgettable beatdown. Then, inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the former AEW star enjoyed the sweet taste of revenge when she quickly disposed of Naomi in a heat-filled grudge match.
In a rare twist, WWE was able to do a better job of making Cargill vs. Naomi a must-see rivalry than it did with its two women's title bouts. The three-way feud between Bianca Belair, Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley always felt a tad paint-by-numbers while Charlotte Flair vs. Tiffany Stratton was a complete disaster from the jump.
But Cargill and Naomi demonstrated why sometimes simple stories are the best ones.
After all, it's not as if Naomi being revealed as Naomi's attacker was some revolutionary storyline. It was obvious from the get-go that Naomi, who took Cargill's spot as Belair's partner and one half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, would ultimately be revealed as the one who took Cargill out.
The feud hit is peak during an intense segment on SmackDown in early March, one that received rave reviews from those within WWE. Naomi herself has spoken openly about wanting to have a long-term, layered storyline to sink her teeth into, and when she finally got one, she consistently knocked it out of the park.
Naomi has been elevated as a villain for the first time in nearly a decade while her tremendous heel work has also helped Cargill become one of WWE's most popular stars. From Cargill's epic Elimination Chamber return to the memorable SmackDown segment to their WrestleMania 41 match, these two stars showed why more women deserve a chance to tell a story without a title involved.
At WrestleMania 41, they proved that they should remain focal points of WWE SmackDown moving forward, whether or not their feud continues beyond the show.

WrestleMania 42 to take place in Las Vegas once again

WWE announced on Wednesday that WrestleMania 42 will be held in Las Vegas for the second straight year after it was previously revealed that New Orleans would be the host site. Reports about the premiere event of the WWE season leaving New Orleans surfaced a few weeks back. As speculation ran rampant on social media, WWE announced during its Money in the Bank premium live event that WrestleMania will be back at Allegiant Stadium. "Las Vegas helped to deliver the biggest WrestleMania of all time, shattering records and delivering an amazing week for fans around the world," WWE president Nick Khan said in a news release. "We look forward to once again working with the talented and effective teams at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and Allegiant Stadium to bring WrestleMania back to the Sports and Entertainment Capital of the World." Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) CEO Steve Hill, who talked to Fox News Digital earlier this year ahead of WrestleMania 41, touted the return of the event as well. "We are honored that WWE has once again selected Las Vegas to host the biggest event on their calendar," Hill said. "Bringing WrestleMania 42 to Las Vegas underscores our city's reputation for elevating world-class events to new heights. We are excited to build on last year's success and deliver an even more incredible experience for the WWE Universe in 2026." WrestleMania in Las Vegas was just as busy as Super Bowl week in the city. WWE hosted events up and down the Las Vegas Strip, including the Hall of Fame ceremony, the Roast of WrestleMania and WrestleMania After Dark at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas. WWE said "Monday Night Raw," "Friday Night SmackDown" and WWE World will return. NXT Stand & Deliver will also take place in the city. It will be the second time in WrestleMania's history that the show will be hosted in the same city in consecutive years. WrestleMania IV and WrestleMania V were held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Pro wrestling star Shotzi Blackheart's sultry reason for AEW interest

Shotzi Blackheart will be featured in several independent pro wrestling shows over the next few months after she departed WWE following roughly six years with the company. She appeared on "The Ariel Helwani Show" on Tuesday and discussed the promotions she would be interested in joining as she attempts to find a full-time home. She mentioned that she loved All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Total Nonstop Action wrestling and watches their programming. She explained why AEW would be her preference if she had a choice. "For so many reasons," she said. "I love their freedom. I have a lot of friends there who are doing really awesome things. I've heard many stories of how (AEW co-owner) Tony (Khan) treats talent. I do love that he really cares for his talent – that is super important to me. "And like, hot girls get to make out with each other, so, like, that's cool." For what it's worth on Shotzi's latter point, AEW stars Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa shared a kiss after their match at Double or Nothing last month. Storm faces Mercedes Moné for the AEW Women's Championship at All In next month. Shotzi, whose real name is Ashley Urbanski, also made clear she loved working for WWE and was only unhappy when she wasn't being used. "I mean, I would love to be back at WWE," she said. "I loved working there. I didn't love not working there. It was only when I wasn't being used that I was unhappy, but anytime I was being used, good time – love the locker room, loved everyone I was working for. That's just it. I just don't want to go back and not work." Shotzi attempted to join WWE through the company's "Tough Enough" challenge in 2015. IT wasn't until 2019 that she joined the NXT brand and worked her way to the main roster. She was an NXT women's tag-team champion with Embar Moon, who wrestles as Athena in the AEW-affiliated Ring of Honor. She was also named the 2020 NXT Breakout Star of the Year. Recently released WWE star Shotzi has named AEW as her preferred destination, citing the company's creative freedom and the reputation of its president, Tony Khan, as key factors. In a candid interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Shotzi discussed her future after her WWE contract was not renewed in May. While she would be open to a return to WWE, she made it clear that AEW is her top choice for a new home. Why AEW Is Her Preference Shotzi explained that her desire to join AEW comes from a place of wanting creative freedom and a supportive environment. She also named several dream opponents she would love to face in the promotion. "I love TNA, I love AEW... AEW is my preference," Shotzi stated. "I love their freedom, I have a lot of friends there who are doing really awesome things. I've heard many stories of how Tony Khan treats talent. So, yeah, I do love that he really cares for his talent. That is super important to me." On Her WWE Release And Potential Return Shotzi was let go by WWE shortly after returning from a torn ACL that kept her out of action for most of 2024. She admitted that being released after working hard to come back from such a major injury was difficult. "When you're going through such a huge injury like that... you hope that, 'Well, if I work really hard and come back even better, maybe I'll get rewarded,'" she said. "But unfortunately for me, I was let go." She believes the reason for her release was simple. "WWE doesn't owe me anything. That's showbiz, right? They just didn't think that I was money and that's okay. I can take that." As for a potential return to the company, she is open to it, but with one major condition. "I would love to be back at WWE. I loved working there. I didn't love not working there, you know what I'm saying? It was only when I wasn't being used that I was unhappy," she explained.
