Congolese man, who acted in Kannada film as peddler, arrested with drugs in Bengaluru
His associate, a Congolese woman, was also arrested after police seized around 1.8kg of MDMA from her residence. In all, cops seized 2kg of MDMA worth over Rs 5 crore from them.
The accused — Joel Kabong, 28, from Hulimavu, and Joy Sunday, 23, of Vidyaranyapura — were selling MDMA in and around Electronics City to students and professionals. Police found photographs in Kabong's mobile clicked during the shooting of Kannada film Bheema, with lead actor Duniya Vijay waging war against the drug mafia.
Kabong told police he had been roped in to act in the movie as a peddler.

"We were surprised to see Kabong carrying out drug trade in real life too," said an investigating officer, adding that they are looking for a suspect from Delhi who supplied MDMA to Sunday.
Interestingly, it was the newly introduced concept of Mane Mane Ge Police, where police personnel knock on the doors of houses in their jurisdiction and interact with residents, that helped in tracing Kabong.

According to police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, residents of Electronics City tipped off the cops about a foreign national visiting Neeladri Road and behaving suspiciously.
"He comes most evenings, particularly during weekends. With a backpack, he loiters on Neeladri Road. Sometimes, he places a packet on a spot, clicks its picture, and stands a little away. In a few minutes, a different person picks up the packet and vanishes," said Singh, sharing the inputs police received from residents.
The special team, led by deputy commissioner of police M Narayana, started watching Kabong and caught him on the night of Aug 15. "He took us to Joy's Vidyaranyapura house. There, we recovered the remaining MDMA, packed and sealed inside packets of instant fortified milk cereal for babies," the investigating officer said.
"The buyers would make online payments to Joy, and she would communicate the same to Kabong. Then, Kabong would place the MDMA-filled packet at some place, click a picture of it, and send it back to Joy, mentioning the location with latitude and longitude. Again, Joy would forward the same to customers, who, following the location, would come and take the packet," another police officer explained.
In the past fortnight, city police, as part of a special drive against drugs, arrested four other accused and seized drugs worth over Rs 70 lakh, including 400 grams of MDMA and 22kg of ganja.

Noida: A Special Pocso court handed a man three years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for molesting a class 11 student in 2014. The minor had come to the accused's Ghaziabad shop to get printouts of some school study material when the convict had molested her. The accused was fined Rs 5,000 along with a prison term by the additional district and sessions cum special Pocso court on Tuesday. Five handed life term for 2022 showroom murder in Gurgaon, court dismisses ‘political rivalry'
Gurgaon: A city court has sentenced five men to life imprisonment for a brazen murder that took place in broad daylight at a clothing brand store in Old Gurgaon three years ago. The murder, which occurred in 2022, was a result of personal enmity, according to the prosecution. The case, which gripped the city due to its audacity and the involvement of high-profile people, concluded with the district court also imposing a fine of Rs 3 lakh on each convict. Sukhbir Singh, a resident of Sohna, was brutally attacked inside Raymond showroom. Those convicted include the brother-in-law of the deceased. Chaman, the brother of one of Sukhbir's wives, did not have a cordial relationship with Sukhbir and planned and executed the murder. During the investigation, Rahul, the nephew of the deceased, alleged Sukhbir was killed due to political rivalry and even blamed a JJP leader, who contested the assembly election from Sohna assembly seat in 2019 on its ticket, for the murder. Pushpa, the wife of the deceased, alleged that accused Joginder and his brother Rohtas financially aided the accused Chaman for the commission of the murder of deceased Sukhbir due to political rivalry. Prashant Yadav, counsel for the accused, argued Joginder and Rohtas were falsely implicated in this case to gain political mileage. Pushpa became a councillor one month after the murder of her husband Sukhbir. No complaint was filed by Sukhbir against Chaman or any other accused. There is no evidence that Joginder and his brother financially helped Chaman. "The case is based upon false and fabricated evidence," said Yadav. The prosecution gave two motives: Chaman, brother-in-law of Sukhbir, was unhappy because his sister Pushpa married Sukhbir against the wishes of the family and became Sukhbir's second wife. Chaman also blamed Sukhbir for selling his family land at a cheaper rate. The second reason given was political vendetta between Sukhbir and Joginder and his brother Rohtas. It was alleged that they financially aided Chaman to kill Sukhbir. Additional sessions judge Sunil Kumar Dewan, rejecting the political rivalry theory, pointed out that until 2022, the deceased continued attending all the functions in the family of Rohtas and accused Joginder. He also pointed out that no complaint was made, nor was any security sought. "There is no reliable evidence to show any political rivalry," said the court.
