Luke Littler loses to Ritchie Edhouse at Players Championship event in Leicester
Ritchie Edhouse dumped world champion Luke Littler out of Players Championship 12 in a dramatic last-16 finish.
The Englishman beat his 18-year-old compatriot 6-5 in a tense conclusion to the deciding leg at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester to book a quarter-final showdown with Dutchman Gian van Veen.
Littler hit double five rather than double top as he attempted a 120 check-out to leave world number 26 Edhouse a tops finish, and he duly obliged with his first dart to progress.
The teenager had earlier recovered from a 4-1 deficit to lead 5-4, but could not close the match out.
Edhouse will be joined in the last eight by Northern Ireland's Josh Rock, who beat Danny Noppert 6-3 after hitting a nine-dart finish in his third round win over Matt Campbell, and will next face Gary Anderson.
Elsewhere, Ian White goes head to head with Luke Woodhouse and Jonny Clayton plays Gerwyn Price.

Joao Felix becomes second Chelsea star stripped of squad number in clear message
Portugal international Joao Felix has struggled to find a club to call home in the past few years, and he would appear to be on the move again after his squad number was taken away Joao Felix's second spell at Chelsea seems destined for an inauspicious ending after the Portugal international saw his squad number given to new arrival Dario Essugo. Felix, still just 25, joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid last summer in a deal worth an initial £42million, but after 20 appearances in all competitions he was on the move again, joining AC Milan on loan for the remainder of the season in February. Now back at Chelsea, where he first arrived on loan from Atletico for the second half of the 2022-23 season, there would appear to be little prospect of Felix forcing his way into Enzo Maresca's first-team plans for next season after he saw his No.14 shirt handed to his Portuguese compatriot Essugo. The move is the latest twist in Felix's career, with the attacker seemingly destined for his fifth change of clubs in the last two-and-a-half years. Felix has become the second Chelsea player to see their shirt number taken from them this summer after winger Mykhailo Mudryk's No.10 was handed to talisman Cole Palmer, who vacates the No.20. Mudryk remains provisionally suspended from football for alleged doping, and hasn't kicked a ball for Chelsea since November. Essugo has arrived at Chelsea in an £18.5million deal and will go into the squad for this summer's Club World Cup. The Portugal under-21 international played 25 times for Sporting's youth team, and had loan spells as Portuguese side Chaves and La Liga outfit Las Palmas in the past two seasons. 'It's a big step to make in my early career,' said Essugo as he was unveiled by the Blues. 'Every player dreams of getting to a big club, and Chelsea is no exception. It's a massive club and I'm feeling proud and very happy to be here. 'Chelsea showed big interest in me. When that happens, you can't turn it down. When my Dad told me Chelsea were interested, I was very happy and here we are now.' Mamadou Sarr, another of Chelsea's new arrivals, has taken the No.19 shirt that was worn by Jadon Sancho during the past season, with the Englishman's loan spell from Manchester United having now ended. "I feel really good, it's like a dream for me," Sarr said after his move. "Since I was young, I dreamed of playing for a club like this. Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world and I am very happy. "For me, Chelsea is the best club in London, one of the best clubs in England. Chelsea have a good project in place for young players. The supporters, the club, it's history and the stadium are all fantastic. It's an iconic club with a full history."

Celtic eye 'bargain transfer for 16 goal Sweden star' but face three way tussle
Nygren has netted twice in his first three senior caps for his country Celtic are reportedly keen on a summer transfer for Nordsjaelland playmaker Benjamin Nygren. Brendan Rodgers is already off the mark in the window after Kieran Tierney 's sensational Parkhead return from Arsenal on a free transfer was confirmed while young Fulham striker Callum Osmand is having a medical ahead of a move north of the border. And SunSport now claim that Sweden international Nygren is also on the Irishman's radar. The 23-year-old joined Danish side Nordsjaelland from Genk back in 2022 and registered 16 goals and four assists last season to earn a place in the Superliga Team of the Year. The former IFK Goteborg player made his senior international bow earlier this year and took his tally to two goals from his first three caps with a strike in an impressive 2-0 win against Hungary last week. But with the wide man revealing he won't renew his current contract - which runs out at the end of December - his club may look to cash in on their star in order to avoid losing him for nothing in January. While the Hoops are said to be keeping close tabs on the player, the report also adds that they will face stiff competition from Anderlecht and Copenhagen. Attacking reinforcements will be high on Celtic 's transfer wish list this summer. The Hoops have been linked with a move for Telstar frontman Youssef El Kachati who is out of contract next month. But the Dutchman looks to have performed a last-minute U-turn by suggesting he will extend his stay with Telstar after helping them win promotion to the Eredivisie. Record Sport has revealed that the Premiership champions retain an interest in Motherwell sensation Lennon Miller, who is also wanted by clubs right across Europe. Reports elsewhere claim that Celtic are also still keen on Sarpsborg winger Sondre Ørjasæter, who was a target back in January. David Beckham to guest edit edition of Country Life Magazine
The former England captain and businessman will join the editorial team for the October 22 edition of the magazine with the aim of celebrating what the countryside means to him and his family. He follows in the footsteps of Royal Family members who previously joined the editor-in chief Mark Hedges at the helm, including the King, the Princess Royal and the Queen. Beckham said: 'I am honoured to have been invited to guest edit an edition of a magazine that I have always admired and read. 'I am really looking forward to working with the editorial team to produce an issue that will celebrate what the countryside and the great British landscape means to me and my family.' This comes as Beckham is to be awarded a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honours, according to reports by The Sun. The football star regularly documents his life in the countryside by posting pictures and videos on his Instagram including him harvesting vegetables, gardening and his flock of chickens. Mark Hedges, Country Life editor-in-chief, said: 'I know he has a deep love of the countryside, which has grown since he retired as a professional footballer, although he is, of course, still extremely busy as a businessman and an ambassador for a host of causes, such as Unicef and The King's Foundation, as well as being co-owner of Inter Miami CF in the US and Salford City Football Club in the UK. 'As someone who is passionate about the countryside, I'm excited to see what his special commemorative issue will bring.' The one-off edition aims to highlight how the countryside has played an important part in Beckham's life. It will feature his favourite view, his best-loved recipe and spotlight his rural champions, including the craftsmen and woman who helped shape his home in the Cotswolds. Beckham, who played for his country 115 times, is the only Englishman to score at three different World Cups and his career included the treble-winning campaign of 1998-99, when Manchester United won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League. He earned the third highest number of England caps of all time for the men's team, and was captain on 59 occasions. The former winger married Spice Girl Victoria, also known as Posh Spice, in 1999.
