
Bangladeshi national held near India-Nepal border
On Saturday, Ahmed was produced before the SDJM, Raxaul, and remanded to jail custody under Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
Acting commandant of 47 battalion of SSB, Sanjay Rawat, said the SSB jawan posted at Maitri bridge found that the Bangladeshi national did not have a valid visa for India. He had a Bangladesh passport and visa for Nepal only. He had come to Kathmandu from Dhaka by air last week. During search, 50 US dollars, Bangladeshi and Nepal currencies were recovered from his possession.
During investigation, it was revealed that he had plans to enter different cities of the country after entering through Nepal. "This activity is being considered extremely serious and suspicious from the point of view of national security," Rawat said.
The Immigration sources said from April 26 to July 4, four Chinese, one each US, Canadian, South Korean, Iraq and Bangladeshi nationals had attempted to enter into India without valid documents through Raxaul.
However, they were arrested and jailed.
After 'Operation Sindoor' there is a high alert in the border area and a temporary checkpost has recently been set up by the SSB at the Maitri bridge before the ICP.
According to intelligence department sources, information has been received about the arrival of seven Pakistani and Bangladeshi associated with the Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI, in Nepal and all these suspects have been active near the India-Nepal border since the first week of June 2025.

State govt giving top priority to protection of children: CM
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy emphasised that all kinds of legal protection should be provided to child victims from sexual harassment. Addressing the State Level Meet -2025 on POCSO here on Saturday, the CM said that the government has already launched the 'Bharosa' project for the protection of girls and 29 centres which are already functioning in the State. The centres are providing legal and medical aid, and counseling through police to the victims. Stating that Telangana became the first State to launch child-friendly courts through the Hyderabad-based Bharosa Centre in the country, the Chief Minister said that the centres are not only resolving cases expeditiously but also taking necessary steps for complete protection and instill confidence among children for their development. Highlighting the importance of the strict implementation of the POCSO Act and Juvenile Act, CM Revanth Reddy, however, added, 'we are facing some hurdles in the enforcement of the Acts. These Acts are completely helpful in protecting the future of the victims without causing any harm.' The CM underscored the perpetrators should be dealt with strictly without showing any mercy towards those who abuse children through social media. Apart from the courts, the Chief Minister asserted that the State government is ready to take necessary steps to the strict enforcement of the child protection Acts with an aim to deliver justice at every stage. Children should get justice through all processes including police stations and child welfare centers. CM Revanth Reddy appealed to judges, police, child welfare committees and other partners to join hands with the government and strive for the protection of child rights. 'Justice means it is not just about awarding punishment but also protect the victim and giving a hope of a decent life' , the CM said that measures should also be taken ensuring child protection, due respect to them in society and lead a happy childhood life.

Faridabad man duped of ₹2.23-crore; one held
A 38-year-old Gujarat resident was arrested on Thursday for his alleged involvement in a ₹2.23-crore cyber fraud duping an octogenarian cardiac surgeon and his wife — residents of Faridabad Sector 39, police said on Saturday. Police said the suspect impersonating a Mumbai crime branch official had called the surgeon on WhatsApp on June 26, 2024 and threatened to arrest him on grounds that his accounts were used for money laundering. The conman also asked the doctor to share his bank statements on the pretext of investigation and then took bribes worth ₹2.23 crore in multiple transactions till July 3, 2024 crore, citing they will clear his name from the case. The victim had later got a cheating and impersonation case registered at Cybercrime police station (central) on July 10, 2024. Yadav said that out of the total duped money, ₹39 lakh was credited into the IDFC account. 'Rest was credited into two more current accounts opened fraudulently with private banks. These three mule accounts were accessed from Cambodia to further transact the couple's money into various accounts,' he said. 'Thakkar received 5% commission every time an amount duped from a victim was credited into the accounts provided by him,' the police officer said. Investigators said that besides Thakkar, seven other accused involved in the fraud were arrested from different parts of the country including Chaman from Rampur in Himachal Pradesh. Police said they had managed to seize ₹1.57 crore of the duped amount and give it back to the surgeon whose identity was withheld for security reasons.
