The One Show's Alex Jones admits 'I can't believe it' as she marks huge milestone
The One Show's Alex Jones admits 'I can't believe it' as she marks huge milestone The One Show's Alex Jones has been a familiar face on the BBC show for over a decade, as she joined as a presenter back in 2010. In 2010, Alex Jones was named the new presenter of The One Show, replacing Christine Bleakley. Since then, BBC viewers have seen her speak to a range of celebrities, including Helen George, Don Warrington, Matt Damon, and Catherine Zeta Jones, who recently left the Welsh star speechless. This month will mark Alex's 15th year fronting the programme, which she addressed at the beginning of Monday's show. As the episode kicked off, the 48-year-old welcomed her co-host Ronan Keating back to the show after a lengthy break. She said: "Look who is back for one night only, it's lovely Ronan." He replied: "Alex, thank you, it's good to be back. Especially, as this month marks 15 years of you on this show." Alex added, "Stop! Stop, I can't believe it, they're going to send me back any minute." Alex Jones was joined by Ronan Keating on Monday's instalment of The One Show (Image: BBC) The Boyzone star was coy as he told BBC viewers his lips were sealed, but there would be more on the milestone during Friday's show. It looks as though there's a celebration on the cards as the show's official Instagram paid homage to Alex, teasing that there's more to come. The clip included a montage of the presenter over the years, from her debut in 2010 to most recently. The video was captioned: "15 fabulous years of smiles, stories, and sparkle! Here's to Alex Jones—the heart of The One Show throughout the years! Join The One Show to help celebrate this Friday, August 8th, on BBC One." Content cannot be displayed without consent It wasn't long before people commented on the post, with many famous faces praising Alex for her lengthy stint on The One Show. Zoe Ball said: "Adore you, Al. Happy anniversary. Queen of the green sofa." Lauren Laverne added: "Happy anniversary, Queen Al! Xx" Steph McGovern commented: "LOVE THIS [sic] ICON" With Jason Manford adding: "You're the best xxx." Alex Jones was heaped with praise from some of her famous friends (Image: BBC) Article continues below Fans of The One Show were also quick to comment on the post, with one person saying: "Love Alex she is so much fun never know what she is going to say next but a hoot. Ed Sheeran fans ‘never been so excited' as singer reunites with Rupert Grint
Ed Sheeran has enlisted Harry Potter star Rupert Grint to once again star in a music video, after he was the centrepiece of the iconic Lego House video 14 years ago. The popstar, 34, shared details for the upcoming video for his new song A Little More – and included a teaser featuring his lookalike friend in on the fun. Playing on their doppelganger looks, Grint, 36, last featured in the Brit singer's 2011 Lego House video, which went on to become the singer's most iconic visual. In the 14-year-old video, Grunt subbed in for Sheeran, mouthing the lyrics to his song, as he played a stalker who was taken into custody after breaking into the singer's tour bus and trying to impersonate him onstage. Sheeran shared a teaser for the new song A Little More, which seems to feature Grint reprising the role of the singer's stalker, after he has been released from prison. What happens next remains to be seen – the music video is set to arrive this Thursday (August 7). Sharing the teaser, Sheeran wrote in the caption: '14 years later me and Rupert Grint are reunited. I had this wild idea after writing the song, and thankfully Rupert was up for it. 'It's an utterly bonkers video for a very upbeat, fun, but angry song. Think this one is gonna be a lot of people's fav song from Play. Out Thursday, watch out for more stuff coming x.' In the comments section, Sheeran's fans were delighted over the reunion. @Sheeran_lisa wrote: 'I don't think ever been this excited for a music video in my entire life.' 'Lego House is one of my favouritesss 🥺 super excited for a little more!!!?!,' added @_notaaryan_. Others were left hugely nostalgic over the link up from one of Sheeran's most poignant songs, with @ writing: 'Been feeling a lot of 2011 nostalgia this year and I love that this will feed into it.' More Trending Superjules69 added: 'I love that your head went there & Rupert had unfinished business 😂😂 can't wait to see the video, A Little More already my fave!!' The pair have played on the lookalike over the years, with Grint once pretending to be the singer on MTV. Grint has said they are indeed mistaken for one another by fans on the street. 'It is kind of 50/50 now,' Grint said in 2017 on The Late Late Show With James Corden. 'Someone stops me, it could go either way.' Got a story? Creepy Boys: Slugs review – howling existential rave through modern life's mayhem
If the end of the world is a party, I want these two feral slugs to be our hosts. Fever-dreamed by Canadian clowning duo Creepy Boys, this absurd existential rave is brilliantly smart and beautifully stupid. Wriggling on to the stage in sleeping bags with puffy vulval gaps for their faces and arms, Sam Kruger and SE Grummett insist, with increasing desperation, that this is a show about nothing. No serious topic will be tackled here. Not gun violence, not climate change, not gender identity. Creepy Boys want to take those heavy, stressful 'somethings' and stomp on them while we dance to techno and watch a soothing puppet show instead. When the eggshell-ridden world outside is so hard to navigate, don't we deserve some smooth-brained blankness? Like slugs: the ultimate nothing. But sticking to this nothingness proves difficult. Whenever the pair stray into a topic that threatens to be 'a something' they retreat, flailing into a cesspit of panic that they've ruined the show. Stripped down to bright, tight plastic bibs and free-wheeling genitals, they frantically cover their close-calls with sweaty, delirious misdirections of our attention: Joni Mitchell puppetry; live animations; a two-headed horse. As it becomes harder to stay in the safe zone, every word, body part and casually shoved-in-your-face gun becomes riddled with unavoidably political connotations. The pair admit their work is 'a little bit niche and mostly gross' but this howl of a show uses an anarchic, DIY aesthetic to cloak innovative design and complex Derridian concepts. What begins as an effort to distract from the doom-scroll mentality devolves into a critical analysis of the absurdities we accept as the norm. In a world so unruly, theirs seems the only sane response. At Summerhall, Edinburgh, until 25 August All our Edinburgh festival reviews
