Shoppers say £17 oil that 'controls frizz for 96 hours' is 'best they've used'

Daily Mirror4 days ago

Wella's brand new Ultimate Smooth Miracle Oil Serum is designed to control frizz for up to four days, and has already racked up a number of five star reviews
As lovely as this recent warm weather has been, it can often lead to dry, dull, or frizz-prone hair and looking like Monica Geller in that episode of Friends (it's the humidity!) However, shoppers think they've found the ultimate solution in a £17 'miracle oil' that promises to 'control frizz for up to 96 hours' - that's right, four whole days.
It comes as Wella Professionals' has released their brand new Ultimate Smooth range, which works to 'smooth and nourish the hair from the inside and out'. The four-step haircare system features a shampoo, conditioner, mask, and its hero product - the Miracle Oil Serum.
The leave-in treatment is designed to control frizz for up to 96 hours, deliver 85% smoother hair, and protect against heat up to 230°C, as well as UV exposure. It's formulated using squalane and omega-9, which are skincare-inspired ingredients which help moisturise the hair cuticle while polishing the hair surface, creating a lightweight, protective barrier.
The multi-purpose formula, which can be used on damp or dry hair, also happens to be vegan, and has a long-lasting, luxurious scent with citrus, floral, and amber notes. The oil serum is said to deliver 'silk-like results', with customers hailing it the 'best ever' after it transformed their 'straw-like' tresses.
Despite being pretty new to the market, Wella's reputation for salon-quality products has seen the range rack up a number of five star reviews already. One said: 'Great packaging, smells divine. If you thought your hair was smooth? Try this and will not regret it as hair becomes extra smooth, will smell fabulous. It becomes sleek and more manageable.'
Another added: 'I have the driest, frizziest hair possible, think straw, especially from mid length to ends. This was only delivered today, so I had to use it as soon as I got out of the shower, wow just wow. I don't think my hair has ever felt this soft, without question this is the best thing I have ever used, and trust me when I say I've spent a fortune on products over the years. I'm about to order another one, or maybe two, so I never run out.'
One reviewer found the Miracle Oil Serum a bit heavy, especially by the end of the day, despite trying to use less product. They commented: 'I think this miracle oil serum is good, and it definitely helps calm down the frizz, however I feel it is a little too heavy for my hair and at the end of the day it feels a lot greasier than it would have done without the product. I have tried using a lesser amount, but the product then doesn't work as well. I would definitely recommend this but be prepared that you may need to wash your hair again the following day.'
Others, however, are hailing it as a handbag essential, commenting: 'This really does do exactly what it says and smoothes my hair out in seconds. I love using this when I've styled my hair and also keep it in my handbag as an essential for any particularly frizzy days as this smooths instantly.'
Still, no one product suits everyone. If Wella's serum doesn't sound quite right for your hair type, the Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil could be a good alternative, and it's currently £19.55 down from £28 at Beauty Bay. The lightweight oil repairs damaged hair while adding shine and controlling frizz. It's silicone-free, ideal for chemically treated hair, and especially good for fine hair that needs repair without heaviness.
Elsewhere, the L'Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Absolut Repair 10 in 1 Leave in Oil is crafted for people with dry, damaged hair. The fast-absorbing oil utilises wheat germ to deeply-hydrate, boost shine and gloss, while working to reduce the look of split ends and flyaways. This one is currently £26.29 down from £29.10 at LookFantastic.
The Wella Miracle Oil Serum is also on offer, along with the rest of the range. The smaller 30ml bottle of the serum - ideal for getting acquainted with the product - is usually £22 but is down to £17, while the larger 100ml bottle is £35.60 (20% off its usual £44 price tag).
The shampoo, conditioner and hair mask are also reduced, coming in at £18.52, £20.60 and £24.20 respectively. But for greater value, there's the Wella Professionals Care Exclusive Ultimate Smooth Bundle with Bag which gets customers the shampoo, conditioner and oil for £68.90, saving £20 on the RRP. It very handily comes in a clear, zippable bag that's ideal for taking on holiday, too. The products are set to be reduced until June 29 before going back up to full price.
So for anyone seeking a solution for dry, frizzy, and unruly hair, Wella's latest collection might just be your new haircare hero. Shoppers can explore the new range here.

A drunken one-night stand left me pregnant — and my partner has no idea

We all know taking a break from a partner can muddy the waters over what constitutes cheating. Need we mention the infamous 'we were on a break' debacle in Friends? But this week, we hear from a reader has found themselves in an even trickier predicament. After separating from her husband due to his ongoing drug use, she ended up having a drunken one-night stand with someone else. Now she's back with her ex — and not only is she's pregnant, she has the unshakeable feeling it's not his. Read the advice below, but before you go, make sure to read last week's Sex Column about a woman who's desperate to lose her virginity, but has a panic attack whenever she comes close. I'm in my mid-thirties and have been married for eight years to a guy I met on holiday. He comes from Manchester, I'm from London, and he moved to be with me. We married quite quickly but so far don't have children, although he's always said he wants them. The reason I held off is because he used to be a major coke-head, and I never thought he was ready for babies until he grew out of his partying ways. Although he promised to quit, I've caught him out a couple of times and he had to admit to still doing it. For instance, one time when we kissed, my mouth was immediately tingly because he had wiped his gums with coke, and another time, when we were away with friends, he suddenly disappeared. I found him doing a line in the pantry! Finally, I left him and went back to my parents. I thought it was a good time to take a break from the pill but unfortunately, I ended up having a drunken one-night-stand with some random guy I met in a club, and now I'm nearly three-months pregnant. My husband and I got back together shortly after my fling, and he promised he's quit his partying lifestyle. I think me leaving was the jolt he needed, and now everything between us is perfect. I'm fairly sure the baby is the result of my one-night stand, but my partner has no idea about it and is really excited to be a dad. The guy I hooked up with looked eerily similar to him and I'm sure that if I said nothing, he'd be none the wiser. I know if I own up to my fling it will cause a lot of heartache, but the guilt is killing me. I lie awake at night, worrying what to do. You're in a difficult situation, but you need to take a deep breath and calm down. Have an honest talk with your GP; if you're very specific about when you had sex with whom, you might be able to pin down which guy is the father of your baby. Let's assume the doctor can tell with some degree of accuracy, that the baby is your husband's. Should you confess your fling? Only you know how he's likely to react, but if there's zero chance of him ever finding out then honestly, I would say nothing. When faced with a choice between 'bad' or 'worse', sometimes honesty isn't always the best policy. You weren't even together at the time. More Trending But if it looks as though the baby could be your lover's, you have a dilemma. Maybe the guilt is too much for you or you're worried that DNA technology will give you away at some point in the future, in which case you must sit your husband down and tell him about your drunken fling. He'll know his behaviour was a contributary factor and may be willing to forgive and forget. Hopefully your love is strong enough to cope long term, but if you end up being a single parent and want to talk about it, write to me again. Laura is a counsellor and columnist.
