Rangers 'set' to offer Nicolas Raskin new deal amid interest
The Belgian has been linked with clubs in England and his former manager Philippe Clement even suggested he is ready to sign for a top half Premier League side after emerging as a leading player in the Gers squad last season.
Raskin is currently contracted at Ibrox until 2027, meaning he would be heading into next summer's break with just a year left on his deal.
The Scottish Sun is reporting new manager Russell Martin is keen to build his team around the 24-year-old and, as such, wants him tied down on a new contract.
Sporting director Kevin Thelwell is on the same page and is ready to sanction an offer.

Thelwell, along with the new US owners, want a far better player trading model in place. And committing Raskin to a new deal would be one step towards that.
It would mean any interested clubs would then be aware they would be required to make a significant offer to prise him away.
Discussions are yet to take place between Rangers chiefs and Raskin's representatives, but they are in the offing.
It is believed the Belgium international is happy at Ibrox and keen to prolong his stay.

This means 6.7 million households could receive around £750 more per year in cash by 2030. The standard allowance is the basic payment for households on Universal Credit. Currently, single people under 25 receive £316.98 a month and couples under 25 get £497.55 a month. Meanwhile, single people over 25 get £400.14 a month and couples aged 25 or older receive £628.10 a month. Normally, benefit payments go up each spring to help people keep pace with the rising cost of living, like food, fuel, and household bills. These increases typically match the consumer price index of inflation from the previous September. But, the government has claimed that the four-year benefit freeze from 2015 to 2019 has caused millions of payments to fall behind rising inflation. As a result, from April 2026, the government wants to hike the standard allowance by more than inflation over the next four years. This means that by 2030, the amount a claimant receives will be almost 5% higher than if it had only risen to match inflation. These extra percentages will be set at: 2.3% for 2026-27 3.1% for 2027-28 4.0% for 2028-29 4.8% for 2029-30 The government wants to help more people return to work and rely less on incapacity benefits, which face huge cuts. To save £5billion a year by 2030, it plans to make PIP assessments stricter and freeze the extra health payments in Universal Credit for those unable to work. The government believes that raising the standard allowance for everyone while reducing the health top-up will make returning to work more financially worthwhile and possible. The government is progressing with its plans to transfer all legacy benefit claimants onto Universal Credit, through a process referred to as "managed migration." The managed migration process officially began back in July 2022 after a successful pilot in July 2019. Since then, households receiving one of five legacy benefits, have been receiving postal notifications outlining the steps required to transition to Universal Credit. Upon receiving a migration letter, claimants are given up to three months to make the switch. Failure to act within this timeframe could result in the loss of existing benefits. The latest data from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) shows that 381,440 individuals lost their benefits after failing to act within this time frame. Initially, the government planned to transfer all ESA claimants to Universal Credit by the end of 2028. However, this deadline was brought forward to March 2026. Osimhen's Man Utd rejection after having "too much respect" to compete with flop
Victor Osimhen is on Manchester United's radar but he previously rejected the prospect of a move to Old Trafford due to having too much respect for one of their strikers Victor Osimhen has previously rejected a move to Manchester United out of respect for one of his compatriots as he claimed he had "too much respect" to battle with him for a starting berth. That was way back in 2020, just before he joined Napoli. It was during his stint with Lille that Osimhen first put himself on the map and his goalscoring exploits made a number of clubs stand up and take note. United were among them, but the Italian side eventually won the race. Osimhen's refusal to join the Premier League side stemmed from the fact they then had Odion Ighalo on their books. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer raised eyebrows when he went and signed the former Watford man to address the team's attacking issues. Ighalo had a bright start, but quickly tailed off and his record by the time he left Manchester stood at five goals in 23 games. That said, he was one of the senior Nigerian players of his generation and Osimhen had great respect for the player who was nine years his senior. The Napoli frontman felt he couldn't compete with his fellow countryman for a starting spot knowing that ultimately one of them would lose out, which motivated his move to Italy. Osimhen's brother, Andrew, told Complete Sports: "It is very true that Manchester United wanted Victor, but he told me something like he had too much respect for Odion Ighalo to be competing for shirts with his senior colleague. Now back in Italy, he is likely to be sold once a buyer can be found. Already this summer he has turned down a move to Saudi Arabia, underlining his desire to stay in Europe and ex-United star Rio Ferdinand is among those to endorse a move for the Nigerian. He said: "I think if I'm looking at the market now and I had to pick him (Viktor Gyokeres) or Osimhen, I'd probably pick Osimhen because of that experience." 'Angry' Nicolas Jackson issues grovelling apology after second red card in five games as Chelsea team-mate says 'he needs to improve'
Nicolas Jackson has apologised to Chelsea supporters and admitted he is 'so angry' at himself after picking up a second red card in just over a month. The 24-year-old striker, already suspended domestically following his Premier League dismissal at Newcastle on May 11, lasted only four minutes on the pitch in Philadelphia during Friday's 3-1 defeat by Flamengo at the FIFA Club World Cup. He was shown a straight red card for raking his studs down the shin of Ayrton Lucas — just moments after coming off the bench. It capped a night to forget for Chelsea, who had led early on through Pedro Neto's second goal of the tournament but conceded twice in quick succession to Bruno Henrique and Danilo shortly before Jackson's dismissal. Wallace Yan later wrapped up the victory for Flamengo, leaving Chelsea with work to do going into their final group game against ES Tunis. However, results elsewhere in Group D mean that a draw against the Tunisian side would be enough to see the Blues progress to the round of 16. Jackson took to Instagram after the match to issue a grovelling apology. 'I want to say sorry. To the club, the staff, my teammates, and all the fans watching, I let you down,' he wrote. 'Another red card and honestly, I'm so angry at myself. I work hard every day to help the team not to put us in this kind of situation. 'I still don't fully understand how it happened. But one thing is clear: it wasn't intentional. Just a football moment that went the wrong way. No excuses. I take full responsibility. 'I'll reflect, I'll grow, and I'll come back stronger for the badge and for everyone who believes in me. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.' Chelsea team-mate Marc Cucurella, speaking after the game, described the foul as 'a bit of bad luck' — but admitted Jackson needs to show more maturity. 'He tried to put his foot in to kick the ball but he kicked the player's leg. That's it. We now miss him for the next game,' said the Spaniard. 'He is a young player with a lot of quality and maybe he needs to improve this.' Cucurella also revealed Jackson stood up in the dressing room to apologise to the group, and insisted the forward remains a 'very important player' for Chelsea. Former Blues midfielder John Obi Mikel was less forgiving. Speaking on DAZN, he labelled Jackson's challenge a 'stupid, stupid, stupid mistake'. 'I don't know what's going through his head. You come into the game, you're 2-1 down, your team needs you, and you do that,' said Mikel. 'He did it in the important Premier League game against Newcastle, when we needed to win to qualify for the Champions League places, and he's done it again. 'You can't keep making mistakes.'
