Newly remodeled OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Paradise Hotel features must-have guest technology and G.hn Wi-Fi from SONIFI

LOS ANGELES, April 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Wanting travelers to have the best in-room amenities at the fully transformed OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Paradise Hotel, the OUTRIGGER team turned to longtime technology partner SONIFI to provide the entertainment and connectivity their guests want and expect.
Located in the heart of Honolulu, Hawai'i, OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Paradise Hotel has been a familiar property with local residents for many years, formerly known as OHANA Waikīkī East by OUTRIGGER. With the full-property remodel OUTRIGGER led, they sought to completely reimagine the guest experience at the craft hotel, blending modern comforts with the cultural heritage of the island.
Along with a completely refreshed lobby, pool and fitness center, visitors are surrounded by artwork and murals by local artisans throughout the property, including the 443 newly renovated guest rooms and suites.
Each guest room is designed to be a sanctuary for travelers. Knowing how important staying connected is for their guests from all over the world, OUTRIGGER worked with SONIFI to upgrade its HSIA network using G.hn technology, which is capable of delivering Gigabit network speeds over a property's existing coaxial cabling.
'OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Paradise Hotel is a consistently high-occupancy property, typically with more than one guest per room, meaning there's multiple connected devices at a time in every room. That requires a solid, reliable network across the property to support all the guest devices, in-room technology and hotel management systems,' said Paul Johnson, SONIFI's General Manager of Internet Services. 'Taking rooms out of service to run new cabling wasn't feasible, so we worked closely with the property's IT team to update their network with a G.hn solution.'
The new network delivers the stability and speed to meet guests' Wi-Fi demands as well as the hotel's back-of-house management needs. It also serves as the backbone to run other SONIFI technology installed in the rooms, including:
Interactive TVs with custom branding and features that drive revenue with promotions of the on-site amenities, other OUTRIGGER properties and third-party partners
Free-to-guest programming from DIRECTV, with custom lineups to include channels that cater to their international guests
Simple and secure streaming from thousands of apps with STAYCAST, where guests use their personal devices to cast content directly to the in-room TV
'Guests who are looking to unwind or rest for a bit in their room often turn to their favorite entertainment to relax,' Johnson said. 'We looked at the property's demographics and typical guest behavior to make sure they would have the comforts of home that they look for, while incorporating engaging and visually stunning opportunities on the interactive TV for OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Paradise Hotel to promote how great their entire property is—leading to an increase in on-prem revenue for them.'
This upgrade wasn't the first time the OUTRIGGER team has worked with SONIFI, and it won't be the last.
'We partner with SONIFI for our property technology solutions because of the longstanding trust and reliability they've consistently demonstrated—both in the quality of their products and the expertise of their team,' said Henry Schwartz, Chief Information Officer at OUTRIGGER Hospitality Group. 'They continue to deliver tailored, innovative solutions that align with the distinct needs of each of our properties and their guests. We're especially pleased with their work at the newly reimagined OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Paradise Hotel, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration on future projects.'
'Guests, island locals, and the OUTRIGGER team all have high standards and expectations at OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Paradise Hotel, just as they do for all OUTRIGGER properties,' Johnson added. 'We're honored to be trusted to deliver technology experiences designed to impress.'

Plan for 36 council homes backed by £4.1m grant

A project to build 36 new social rent homes on the site of a former care centre in Sheffield has been supported with a £4.1m grant from the government. Sheffield City Council has been awarded the money to develop Bolehill View, at the site of a former community care facility on Eastfield Road, off Northfield Road in Crookes. The scheme would see two blocks of one-bedroom flats built in an area of "high housing need," according to the council. Douglas Johnson, chair of the council's housing committee, said: "Sheffield, like the rest of the country, faces huge challenges when it comes to housing." Johnson said that providing "ample good quality homes at affordable prices for those who need them," was a priority for the local authority. Sheffield City Council has launched a 10-year plan to improve and increase its housing supply. A spokesperson for the authority said demand for good quality, affordable homes in the city had "never been higher". The authority is currently working towards formally accepting the conditions of the funding before work can begin at the site. The grant is the third to be awarded to Sheffield City Council this year by Homes England, the government's housing and regeneration agency. Dilys Jones, assistant director of affordable housing growth at Homes England, said the agency was pleased to be working with the council, "to increase the delivery of much-needed affordable homes in the city". The average private rent cost in Sheffield rose to £877 in February 2025, up from £824 the year before. Johnson & Johnson Launches VIRTUGUIDE™ AI-Powered Patient-Matched Lapidus System in U.S. to Reduce Complexity in Bunion Surgery for Millions

Early VIRTUGUIDE™ surgeons report a 30-minute reduction in surgical time versus traditional treatment1,2,*,** WEST CHESTER, Penn., July 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) – Johnson & Johnson MedTech, a global leader in orthopaedic technologies and solutions, today announced the launch of the VIRTUGUIDE™ System. This AI-powered, patient-matched solution is designed to support Lapidus procedures2, a type of bunion surgery that helps realign the foot by joining two bones near the arch (the first metatarsal bone and the medial cuneiform).3 The system uses pre-operative planning software, developed in collaboration with PeekMed®, to assess each patient's bunion and make personalized recommendations for the intended correction.2 Bunions are among the most common foot problems, affecting nearly one-third of adults in the U.S.4, yet traditional Lapidus surgery to treat the condition is often challenging.5,6 The VIRTUGUIDE™ AI Lapidus System addresses this by enabling a streamlined approach and reducing surgical complexity.2** Early users estimated procedural time savings of at least 30 minutes when using the system compared to their previous technique.1,* "VIRTUGUIDE™ has completely transformed my approach to bunion surgery, making a complex Lapidus procedure significantly easier and faster. Since adopting VIRTUGUIDE™, my surgical corrections have been spot-on—what I plan preoperatively is exactly what I achieve in the operating room," said Michael Campbell, M.D., FAAOS, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists.± "This improved accuracy leads to better outcomes, and the ability to present the pre-operative plan to my patients helps address their questions and ease their concerns§." "The VIRTUGUIDE™ System is a pivotal advancement in AI-powered surgical precision for treating bunion deformities—a common, painful, and potentially debilitating condition affecting nearly one-third of Americans4," said Oray Boston, Worldwide President of Trauma, Extremities, Craniomaxillofacial, Animal Health and Sports Medicine, Orthopaedics, Johnson & Johnson MedTech. "This milestone marks an important step forward, as VIRTUGUIDE™ becomes the latest addition to our growing portfolio of VELYS™ Enabling Tech solutions. By automating surgical planning and tailoring instrumentation to each patient, the system helps reduce complexity in the operating room and helps surgeons to achieve the intended correction2,7**." This launch follows the 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for the Pre-operative Planning Software, granted earlier this year.‖ The system is now available in the U.S. For more information, visit Orthopaedic Solutions from Johnson & Johnson MedTech Across Johnson & Johnson, we are tackling the world's most complex and pervasive health challenges. Augusta Precious Metals Review 2025

Augusta Precious Metals is better suited if you're retired or nearing retirement and looking to diversify your retirement portfolio with precious metals exposure. In general, if you have a longer time horizon, you're better off with the stock market or long-term growth investments that can survive downturns over time. While having a small position in precious metals may dampen portfolio volatility in the short-run, the tradeoff between slightly dampened volatility and the lost long-term return is certainly not a prudent one, particularly for Generation-Z [or] millennials with long investing time horizons. – Robert Johnson, a chartered financial analyst, chairman and CEO of Economic Index Associates and professor of finance at the Heider College of Business at Creighton University Augusta requires a high initial investment of $50,000. Financial advisors typically recommend allocating no more than 5% to 10% of your overall portfolio to precious metals. That means, ideally, you need a total retirement portfolio of $500,000 to $1 million to justify that minimum. The idea behind investing in a gold IRA, such as one offered by Augusta Precious Metals, is that it works as an inflationary hedge. For example, if you have your money in cash, the cost of inflation erodes your purchasing power. The strategy of using a gold IRA is that the underlying assets appreciate in either a tax-deferred or tax-free Roth account. Concierge Customer Service Some of the perks of choosing Augusta are its transparent pricing and concierge-like customer service. It's a great option for those who'd prefer hand-holding when it comes to investment products. With Augusta, you'll be assigned a dedicated customer service agent throughout the account setup and management process. The downside is you can't set up or apply for an account online. If you prefer to go to a website without having to contact a person over the phone for transactions, you're out of luck. The website chat feature funnels customers into a customer service phone call.
