Newly remodeled OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Paradise Hotel features must-have guest technology and G.hn Wi-Fi from SONIFI
LOS ANGELES, April 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Wanting travelers to have the best in-room amenities at the fully transformed OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Paradise Hotel, the OUTRIGGER team turned to longtime technology partner SONIFI to provide the entertainment and connectivity their guests want and expect.
Located in the heart of Honolulu, Hawai'i, OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Paradise Hotel has been a familiar property with local residents for many years, formerly known as OHANA Waikīkī East by OUTRIGGER. With the full-property remodel OUTRIGGER led, they sought to completely reimagine the guest experience at the craft hotel, blending modern comforts with the cultural heritage of the island.
Along with a completely refreshed lobby, pool and fitness center, visitors are surrounded by artwork and murals by local artisans throughout the property, including the 443 newly renovated guest rooms and suites.
Each guest room is designed to be a sanctuary for travelers. Knowing how important staying connected is for their guests from all over the world, OUTRIGGER worked with SONIFI to upgrade its HSIA network using G.hn technology, which is capable of delivering Gigabit network speeds over a property's existing coaxial cabling.
'OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Paradise Hotel is a consistently high-occupancy property, typically with more than one guest per room, meaning there's multiple connected devices at a time in every room. That requires a solid, reliable network across the property to support all the guest devices, in-room technology and hotel management systems,' said Paul Johnson, SONIFI's General Manager of Internet Services. 'Taking rooms out of service to run new cabling wasn't feasible, so we worked closely with the property's IT team to update their network with a G.hn solution.'
The new network delivers the stability and speed to meet guests' Wi-Fi demands as well as the hotel's back-of-house management needs. It also serves as the backbone to run other SONIFI technology installed in the rooms, including:
Interactive TVs with custom branding and features that drive revenue with promotions of the on-site amenities, other OUTRIGGER properties and third-party partners
Free-to-guest programming from DIRECTV, with custom lineups to include channels that cater to their international guests
Simple and secure streaming from thousands of apps with STAYCAST, where guests use their personal devices to cast content directly to the in-room TV

Former UFC fighters file lawsuits, alleging the MMA promotion restricts their earning potential
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Two former UFC fighters have filed antitrust lawsuits against the mixed-martial arts behemoth, alleging it operates as a monopoly that restricts their ability to maximize earnings. Phil Davis and Mikhail Cirkunovs, who fought under the name Misha Cirkunov, filed their lawsuits in U.S. District Court in Nevada against the Las Vegas-based UFC. Cirkunovs' complaint was filed on May 23, and Davis' was filed six days later. Philadelphia-based Berger Montague, which is represented locally by Las Vegas' Claggett and Sykes, is the law firm for both fighters. A message left with the Las Vegas firm on Monday was not immediately returned. Cirkunovs is seeking $75,000 in damages. Davis didn't specify how much money he is suing for. The UFC reached a $375 million settlement in September in a class-action antitrust lawsuit brought by Cung Le, who filed his claim in 2014. The UFC has not reached an agreement with Kajan Johnson, who filed his lawsuit in 2021. Both recent complaints made references to the Johnson case, with the Cirkunovs' suit saying they were similar. 'In previous hearings, Plaintiffs' own counsel expressed strong concerns to the Court about the weaknesses of the Johnson claims,' the UFC said in a statement. 'This new complaint (Cirkunovs) confirms that the plaintiffs in the Johnson case lack the standing to represent the proposed class. 'In addition, it confirms that the majority of fighters signed class-action waivers and agreed to arbitrate their claims instead of resorting to court procedures. We are confident that the facts and the law are on our side in opposing approval of both of these proposed classes.' Davis fought in the UFC from 2010-15 before signing with Bellator MMA, which became the Professional Fighters League this year.
