Inter Milan Legend Urges PSG & Italy Megastar To Join Man City Amid Nerazzurri Interest: 'If I Was Him, I Would Go To Guardiola'

Yahoo4 days ago
Former Gianluca Pagliuca has urged PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to join Manchester City amid Inter Milan rumors.
Speaking to La Stampa via FCInter1908, Pagliuca offered his verdict on the goalkeeper's uncertain future.
Gianluigi Donnarumma has entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Parc des Princes.
Indeed, he signed a lucrative four-year deal when he joined the club from AC Milan in the summer of 2021.
Donnarumma currently earns around €11.5 million net per season.
Meanwhile, Les Parisiens have offered him a new contract worth around €8 million per year.
As expected, the 26-year-old has no intention of accepting such terms.
Therefore, he could leave Paris at the end of next season as a free agent, with Inter contemplating a move.
Despite Donnarumma's past ties with Milan, the Nerazzurri view the Italy captain as a genuine target.
However, they face fierce competition from Manchester United.
On the other hand, Gianluca Pagliuca has offered different advice to the star keeper.

'I don't understand why they signed Chevalier,' Gianluca Pagliuca said. 'Donnarumma played a huge part in winning the Champions League.
'He was decisive in almost every match. Unfortunately, he was only untested in the final against Inter.
'He's the best in the world. I think he could be worth a few million more in wages.
'I imagine they couldn't agree on a contract extension for financial reasons.
'The accusation that he can't play well with his feet? I remember Luis Enrique's interviews after the games against Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal. He praised him, saying he's an extraordinary goalkeeper.
'I would've understood such a move in the past, when there had been some problems and criticism was relentless.
'But after this triumphant season, it makes no sense. The issue is financial,' he added.
'If I were him, I'd jump at the chance to join Guardiola.
'Or he could also calmly stay at PSG for another year, take his chances, and then leave on a free in a year's time. Maybe to Inter.'

Luis Diaz wastes no time at Bayern Munich and has special message

Former Liverpool player Luis Diaz, the subject of a big-money summer transfer, scored on his competitive debut for Bayern Munich on Saturday as the Bavarians triumphed over VFB Stuttgart in Saturday's Franz Beckenbauer Supercup. 77 minutes into the match, the Colombian found himself unmarked in the box and connected with a Serge Gnabry cross to make the score 2-0. The goal was crucial: Bayern conceded late and nervily hung on to a 2-1 victory. Diaz immediately jogged to the corner flag, sat down, and honored his former teammate Diogo Jota with his signature video game celebration before being cheered by his Bayern teammates. In early July, Jota tragically passed away in a car accident along with his brother, Andre. Diaz transferred to Bayern this summer for €75 million (£65m/$87m), a sizeable margin for a 28-year-old winger. He's the second recent high-profile player to move from Liverpool to Munich in recent years, joining Sadio Mane (2022). Diaz figures to line up exclusively on the left wing for coach Vincent Kompany's side, flanking English forward Harry Kane. The 28-year-old primarily lined up on the left for Liverpool last year but moonlit as a center-forward last fall with Jota out injured and striker Darwin Nunez struggling for form. He played all 90 minutes for Bayern on Saturday, completing 38 of 42 passes and one of his four dribbles. The one he pulled off was stunning: Diaz caused Stuttgart winger Jamie Leweling to faceplant with a smooth acceleration in the first half. Ahead of Diaz's positive debut, former Bayern Munich and Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann told German site Heute that he's skeptical of the transfer. Diaz is a very good footballer, but what Bayern are doing isn't a business model. Bringing in a 28-year-old for that amount of money and then paying him even more than he earned in England? Liverpool are laughing," Hamann said. And I've heard there's talent there like there hasn't been in 10 years. Yet the German championship is still only possible through Bayern," he continued. "Who else? Leverkusen will have a tough time, and it won't be Leipzig either; Dortmund is the most likely option. The benchmark for Bayern will be the Champions League."

Pep Guardiola: Manchester City squad still too big, situation is ‘not healthy'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reiterated after his side's win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday that he is still not happy with the size of his squad and that more departures are necessary. Goals from Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and a double from Erling Haaland saw City beat Wolves 4-0 at Molineux in their opening match of the Premier League season. Cherki and Reijnders both arrived this summer and made their debuts in the game, alongside goalkeeper James Trafford and left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri. City have also signed back-up goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea as well as midfielder Sverre Nypan, who is set to move to Middlesbrough on loan. Advertisement Several players have already left the club this summer. Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker both left to join Napoli and Burnley respectively, with James McAtee signing for Nottingham Forest. Jack Grealish has joined Everton on loan, while Vitor Reis will spend the 2025-26 season with Girona. Despite the departures, Guardiola has insisted that the squad is still too big and needs to be reduced before the end of the transfer window on September 1. 'Too much. Too many people,' Guardiola said after the Wolves game when asked about the issue. 'On the bench we had Nathan (Ake) and Gundo (Ilkay Gundogan). 'I like a deep squad to compete in all competitions but I don't want to leave players at home. It's not healthy. You cannot create a good vibe or atmosphere to compete. The club has known it since last season but the situation is what it is. In the next two weeks, people will talk with players and agents to find a solution.' Phil Foden, Rodri, Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, and Savinho all missed Saturday's match through injury. Some members of Guardiola's squad continue to be linked with moves away. Forest are working on a deal to sign full-back Rico Lewis while Tottenham Hotspur made an approach for Savinho. This is not the first time that Guardiola has lamented the size of his squad. 'We have a long squad, too many players,' he said on June 22. 'We cannot go with 26 or 27 players this season because there would be more not playing. 'Step by step, maybe a few players are going to move.' Goalkeeper Ederson also missed the Wolves match through illness amid uncertainty over his future at the club following Trafford's arrival. Yesterday I saw (Ederson's) illness, gastroenteritis and after I didn't speak to the club,' said Guardiola. 'If the player wants to leave he has to leave but on the conditions of the club. There's no sense if he's not happy here but the final decision and the way to make the deal belongs 100 per cent to the club so I don't know what will happen in the next two weeks.' City return to action next Saturday when they host Tottenham in their second Premier League game of the campaign. () Spot the pattern.
