Arizona State football wide receiver Jordyn Tyson's Big 12 ranking slammed: 'Joke'
Is Arizona State football's Jordan Tyson being disrespected in one site's grades for the highest returning wide receivers in the Big 12?
Some people criticized Pro Football Focus College for having the star ASU football receiver come in at No. 5 on a recent list, especially considering three of the four "returning" wide receivers ranked ahead of Tyson on the list didn't even play in the Big 12 last season, transferring to schools in the conference after playing in the FCS in 2024.

Tyson was ranked behind TCU WR Jordan Dwyer, Kansas WR Bryson Canty, TCU WR Eric McAlister and West Virginia WR Cam Vaughn in the rankings.

Vaughn had 48 catches for 803 yards and five touchdowns at Jacksonville State, another FCS school, last season.
McAlister was the lone "returning" player ranked above Tyson who actually played in the Big 12 last season. He had 39 catches for 762 yards and five touchdowns in his first season with the Horned Frogs after transferring from Boise State.

The rankings did not sit well with some on social media, considering the inclusion of the transfers and Tyson's actual stats in the 2025 season.

Tyson had 75 catches for 1,101 yards and ten touchdowns before being injured in the Sun Devils' final regular season game against Arizona, making him miss ASU's Big 12 championship game victory and College Football Playoff game appearance.

Is Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson really the fifth-best returning wide receiver in the Big 12? Some people strongly disagree with a recent ranking.
'Returning' Big 12 wide receiver grades slammed
Athlon Sports' Tony Thomas was among those who criticized the rankings and Tyson's place in them.

He wrote: "Look at the Big 12 receiving stats from a season ago. You will note that Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson (grade of 80.4) finished third in the league with 75 catches for 1,100 yards and 10 TDs, behind only Tetairoa McMillan and Travis Hunter. McMillan and Hunter have moved on to the NFL. As a result, Tyson is the best returning receiver in the conference. Not to mention, he is a dynamic perimeter weapon for a team that returns almost their entire squad, their coaching staff and won the conference crown last season.
"The national media continues to pile on their disrespect of the Sun Devils. They are making that chip on ASU's shoulder a little bigger as we get closer to Week 1 of the 2025 season."

Connecticut Sun Makes Statement After Loss to Caitlin Clark, Fever
Connecticut Sun Makes Statement After Loss to Caitlin Clark, Fever originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Connecticut Sun suffered their third straight loss on Tuesday in an 88-71 blowout against the Indiana Fever. Advertisement As expected, Caitlin Clark stole the show, as the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year led her team to their second straight win behind 20 points, six assists and four three-pointers. Clark, however, also made headlines after being involved in multiple physical altercations throughout the contest. One in particular that stood out was an incident in the third quarter that saw Clark get called for a technical foul after shoving Sun guard Jacy Sheldon. Clark was retaliating after getting poked in the eye by Sheldon, which resulted in Marina Mabrey and Tina Charles also getting involved in the physical confrontation. In the end, Clark and Co. battled hard and were able to take down the Sun, who fell to 2-9 on the season after another disappointing loss. At the same time, however, he wasn't entirely pleased with how his team let their emotions get the better of them in this one. Advertisement 'When it's an away game, it will never be in our (favor)," he said, via Brian Haenchen on IndyStar. "It's why I say we lost our mind, instead of sticking to our game plan and focusing on our game. "It was a good learning opportunity, so hopefully we can learn from this game." Toward the end of the game, two Sun players, Sheldon and Lindsay Allen, were ejected after another incident with Fever veteran Sophie Cunningham, who was also tossed. Unfortunately for the Sun, they suffered another loss on Wednesday. They played for a second time in two nights, and they found themselves on the losing end again, this time against the Phoenix Mercury, 83-75. Jaguars Receivers: Taking the Next Step
Trevor Lawrence hasn't had much help on the offensive side of the ball during his short time in the league thus far. That is until this past season when Brian Thomas Jr entered the league and took it by storm. Advertisement The rookie racked up 1,282 yards (3rd in the NFL) and ten touchdowns. He really didn't get started until the latter half of the season, shattering the previously held Jaguars' rookie records. He would've gotten close to the single-season franchise records too if he'd been targeted in the first half of the season. Despite finishing third in receiving yards, he was only targeted 19th most of any receiver. His size, speed, and craftiness for his age already have made him a top ten receiver in the league. Fantasy Points' metrics show that Brian Thomas Jr created more separation on slant routes than any other receiver. >>> STREAM ACTION SPORTS JAX 24/7 LIVE <<< Advertisement With the losses of Kirk and Engram, James Gladstone made a concerted effort to find quality receivers to complement Brian Thomas Jr and did he ever. In Free Agency, Gladstone added Dyami Brown, a screen game merchant and yards after catch specialist for the Washington Commanders. Honestly, a perfect choice for Liam Coen's offense. Brown's ability to make plays after the catch was sorely missed last season and should only be amplified in Coen's offense. Brown averaged 7.3 yards after the catch last season, 8th among 110 receivers. That would have led the Jaguars as would have his 11 forced missed tackles. The Jaguars offense was about league average last season in yards after the catch, however, that was in large part due to Brian Thomas Jr. According to FTN, the Jags averaged 5.3 yards, but Brian Thomas' 6.6 YAC/R propped that up a fair bit. Advertisement Gladstone then doubled down and selected the reigning Heisman winner, Travis Hunter. Hunter's ball skills are as good as any receiver in recent draft history and it's something that was sorely needed in Jacksonville. The Jaguars were able to catch just 33.8% of their contested catch opportunities last season, 30th in the NFL. While Thomas led the team with six contested catches, the rest of the Jaguars' receiving room was able to add just seven more on 27 targets (25.9%). Hunter, however, saw the highest career contested catch rate (65.5%) of any first round receiver since at least 2014. His ball skills were commonly on display whether at cornerback or receiver. Advertisement He can make you miss too; his 24 missed tackles forced in 2024 ranked eighth in college football. Drops have continued to plague the Jaguars. While they got better with Mac Jones under center, the Jaguars' 4.7% drop rate still ranked 20th in the NFL. It's been an issue that has doomed the team for years now and seems to never go away. In the least three seasons, the Jaguars have an astounding 78 drops. With the additions of Dyami Brown and Travis Hunter, the Jaguars now boast what many think could be one of the better receiving corps in the league. Add in Brenton Strange and it truly feels like Trevor Lawrence is set up for success this season. The pieces are there; now it's time to put them all together.
