A 16-year-old girl and two boys aged 14 and 15, have been charged with murder by joint enterprise.
The trio, who legally cannot be named, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today as their families watched from the public gallery.
The court was told the attack allegedly involved a glass bottle and rocks being thrown.
Alexander's cause of death is currently inconclusive as he seems to have suffered a "medical episode such as a cardiac arrest"
The prosecutor said this "could have been brought on by being chased and attacked".
Alexander was discovered with bruising to his "lower ribs and stomach" along with an injury to his head.
Some locals who witnesses the "violent assault" tried to provide CPR, the court was told.
The girl and two boys, who are believed to have been on holiday at the time, spoke only to confirm their names, dates of birth and addresses.
No pleas were entered but a provisional trial date was set for January 13 next year.
The teens were remanded into youth detention accommodation ahead of a hearing on November 6.
A 12-year-old girl, arrested on August 12 in Basildon in connection with the alleged attack, has been bailed.
It comes after court documents revealed Alexander pleaded guilty to stalking involving serious harm or distress on March 17 this year.
He followed a woman home from work and approached her front door in the early hours of the morning.
The stalker returned seven minutes later and posted a letter and chocolate bar through her door.
Alexander was handed a one-month curfew and was fitted with a tag, which was due to remain on until September 16.
He was also hit with a restraining order blocking contact with the victim and was told to stay away from her street and the Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre in Gillingham.
Police were scrambled to the Warden Bay Road area of Leysdown-on-Sea shortly after 7pm on Sunday following reports of an "altercation".
Witnesses in Leysdown-on-Sea claimed the man was "hit with stones and rocks" before he died.
Anthony West, site manager at Jimmy G's Amusements, said the teens were then arrested in the arcade near the seafront.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward.

A further 60 people will be prosecuted for 'showing support for the proscribed terrorist group Palestine Action', the Metropolitan Police have said. Man, 45, charged with murdering 73-year-old after woman found dead with a serious head injury
A MAN, 45, has been charged with murder after a woman, 73, was found dead. Police were called to a property on Russia Lane, in Bethnal Green, London, at 9pm on Thursday. Sufia Khatun was found with a serious head injury and paramedics sadly pronounced her dead at the scene. The Met Police detained 45-year-old Mizanur Rahman, who was known to the victim. He will appear at Thames Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with murder. Ms Khatun's next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Det Ch Supt Brittany Clarke, who leads the Central East Command Unit, said: "Our team of officers and forensic specialists are working at pace to establish the full circumstances that led to this woman's tragic death. "This is believed to be an isolated incident, with no wider risk to the general public. "However, residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days." A Met Police spokesperson said: "A man has been charged with murder after the death of a woman in Bethnal Green. "Mizanur Rahman, 45 (14.6.1980), will appear at Thames Magistrates Court on Saturday, 16 August after being charged on Friday, 15 August. "Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service to an address on Russia Lane at 21:00hrs on Thursday, 14 August. "A woman was found with a serious head injury and pronounced dead at the scene. A 17-year-old boy who filmed a 'hero' grandfather as he lay dying on the street before sharing the video on social media has avoided jail. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, recorded Paul Lawrence, 51, after he was killed in the early hours of January 28 last year. Others could be heard laughing and joking in the background of the video that ended up capturing the tragic last moment's of Mr Lawrence's life. The boy pleaded guilty to sending a grossly offensive, indecent or menacing message at Worthing Youth Court, West Sussex, yesterday. He also admitted possessing cannabis and was given a 12-month Youth Referral Order following the incident on Gladonian Road in Littlehampton, West Sussex. It comes as police slammed the 17-year-old's 'inexcusable' behaviour that 'compounded' the grief felt by Mr Lawrence's family. Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell from Sussex Police said: 'In the video, voices could be heard laughing and joking during what would prove to be the tragic last moment's of Paul's life. 'The video was then circulated by the defendant to other people on social media. 'This sort of behaviour is inexcusable and has compounded the grief felt by Paul's family at this most distressing of times.' Another 17-year-old boy, from Bognor Regis, has been charged with manslaughter. He is scheduled to appear in court again on October 6 for a pre-trial preparation hearing. Paying tribute, Mr Lawrence's siblings, John and Shelley, said: 'Paul was the kindest man that would help anyone. 'He would light up the darkest of rooms with his smile and cheeky laugh.
