Woman killed, child injured in Highway 401 crash
A 40-year-old woman from Cambridge is dead and a six-year-old is in hospital with minor injuries after a crash on highway 401 near James Snow Parkway, June 7, 2025 (X/@OPP_HSD). A 40-year-old Cambridge woman has died following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 eastbound near James Snow Parkway Saturday morning, police say. The crash occurred at approximately 10:11 a.m., when the woman's vehicle struck a guide rail and was then hit by an eastbound pickup truck, according to the Mississauga detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her six-year-old daughter, who was also in the vehicle, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. None of the four occupants in the other vehicle were injured. The eastbound express lanes of the highway were closed for several hours while police investigated. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Mississauga OPP at 905-858-8670.

Collingwood adding additional signage in school zones
Collingwood announced they will be adding additional speed limit signage around school zones in the town. The town announced last summer they would be implementing a new reduced speed limit in school zones and community safety zones (CSZ) to 30 kilometers an hour. Many signs were installed last summer, however more signage will be up in the next few weeks. In a press release, the town said the speed limit reductions ensures consistency on driver behavior with a focus on vulnerable areas of the town specially 150 meters around schools. pavement markings will also be installed in school zones to let motorists know to slow down.
