Xiaomi 15 Civi isn't coming, new report claims

GSM Arena24-07-2025
Last year Xiaomi brought the Civi line into India with the Xiaomi 14 Civi, an upper-midrange smartphone that aimed to capture some of the magic of the Chinese Civi series, paired with a Leica-branded camera experience. How successful it was in doing that isn't clear, but if you've anxiously been waiting for its successor, we have some bad news.
A new report claims the Xiaomi 15 Civi has been canceled. No reason is given, but obviously lackluster sales of the 14 Civi may be to blame. That model is in fact now heavily discounted. Xiaomi 14 Civi
The Xiaomi 15 Civi was in fact in active development before it got the axe. It was to feature a 6.55-inch "1.5K" resolution screen with micro-curves on all four sides, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a 3,200-nit peak brightness. It was going to be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
The Leica camera branding would have returned, with a 50 MP main shooter, a 12 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP telephoto, and a 50 MP selfie snapper. Keeping the lights on was supposed to be a 6,000 mAh battery with support for 67W wired charging. What do you think about this decision? Let us know in the comments. Xiaomi 14 Civi

Tecno renews collaboration with global brand ambassador Lay Zhang

Vlad, 06 August 2025 Today, Tecno has announced that it's renewing its partnership with global brand ambassador Lay Zhang. The partnership with the pop culture icon was established last year, and has proven to be very fruitful for Tecno, hence why it decided to continue the arrangement. This year, Tecno says it will partner with Lay "on more diverse and exciting projects designed to resonate with young audiences". Lay is a pop and rap artist, actor, singer-songwriter, dancer, and fashion icon "thanks to his talent and versatility", Tecno says. He made his debut as a member of K-Pop sensation EXO in 2012, and after gaining popularity with audiences across Asia embarked on a solo career in 2016. He also starred in the 2023 Chinese movie "No More Bets", and his music career "has continued to reach new heights" with his 2024 tour titled Grandline 4: STEP. Tecno thinks Lay's "relentless energy and drive" qualify him to be a perfect match for the smartphone brand, since Tecno itself is "known for its bold ambition, constant innovation, and Stop at Nothing mantra". Tecno also has a mission to empower the next generation with technology, and Lay is known for nurturing talent through his entertainment agency, so they're very much in alignment here too. Tecno and Lay Zhang will create "exciting content for digital and social media-savvy consumers", in addition to "collaborations around brand spirit, product promotion, concert tour support, and fan engagement". Lay and Tecno will also "explore shared opportunities to bring the magic of Chinese Pop music and Afrobeats to international music lovers by creating thrilling new rhythms". Lay will showcase Tecno's Pova series of devices, known for "refreshing trendy design, long battery life, and gaming capabilities".

OnePlus 15 to come with a radical design change

Vlad, 06 August 2025 The upcoming OnePlus 15 will massively switch things up in the design department compared to its predecessor, the OnePlus 13. That is the latest rumor out of China, which is claiming that the next flagship OnePlus will give up on the huge circular camera island. Instead, the OnePlus 15 will have a rounded-corner rectangle-shaped island, positioned in the top left part of its rear. Thus, it will be very similar to the island employed by the recently launched OnePlus 13T and OnePlus 13s. OnePlus 13s The OnePlus 15 is also rumored to give up on the Hasselblad co-branding, and feature a lower-resolution screen than its predecessor. It will still be a good panel with LIPO tech and very thin bezels, but it will only have "1.5K" resolution. The OnePlus 15 will have a 50 MP main camera, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC at the helm, and a 7,000-7,500 mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging. Those are all the details leaked right now, but undoubtedly more stuff will be outed in the future, so stay tuned.
