Marseille puts Rabiot and Rowe on transfer list for reported locker room fight
The pair reportedly argued and fought in the locker room after Friday's 1-0 loss to Rennes, which prevailed with a stoppage-time goal despite being down to 10 players in their Ligue 1 season opener.
Marseille's move puts doubt into team-building plans for coach Roberto De Zerbi just one week before the 1993 Champions League winner takes part in the draw for this season's competition.
'This decision was taken due to unacceptable behavior in the dressing room after the match against Rennes,' Marseille said in a statement.
Rabiot and Rowe have been exiled 'in agreement with the technical staff and in accordance with the club's internal code of conduct,' said the club whose majority owner is American businessman Frank McCourt, the former Los Angeles Dodgers owner.
Marseille qualified for the Champions League by finishing runner-up to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 in De Zerbi's first season at the club.
The 30-year-old joined as a free agent last September after his contract expired at Juventus. Weeks earlier, Rowe had moved from English second-tier Norwich on an initial loan deal that was made permanent before this season.
The transfer window in Europe closes Sept. 1.

Fluminense goalkeeper Fabio on Tuesday claimed the record for most competitive appearances in men's football when the Brazilian played for a 1,391st time. The 44-year-old on Saturday equalled the landmark held by former England stopper Peter Shilton and Fabio has now gone one better following a 2-0 win over Colombia's America de Cali at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro. Fluminense and Brazilian media say Fabio now stands alone in football history, although neither FIFA nor regional body CONMEBOL has declared it a record. "Sometimes we don't realize the importance of such a significant achievement as breaking this record, which has stood for many years," Fabio, who has spent his entire career in Brazil, said following his clean sheet in the Copa Sudamericana last 16 second leg. The home fans chanted, "Fabio is the best goalkeeper in Brazil," and he received a commemorative plaque to mark the achievement. "No one plays so many matches without a level of professionalism like his," said Fluminense coach Renato Gaucho. "He'll undoubtedly continue to play for a long time. "It will be difficult for another player to surpass his record." Fabio won the Copa Libertadores with Fluminense in 2023 and was part of the side that reached the semi-finals of the Club World Cup in the United States this summer. He made 976 appearances for Cruzeiro between 2005 and 2022, after playing 30 times for Uniao Bandeirante and another 150 games for Vasco da Gama. His record outing against America de Cali was his 235th match for Fluminense. Fabio began his career in 1997, the year that Shilton retired. Tottenham Hotspur keen on Real Sociedad attacker Takefusa Kubo
Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Real Sociedad attacker Takefusa Kubo this summer, according to Spanish outlet Diario AS. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club want to sign another forward alongside Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze before the end of the transfer window. Spurs have identified AS Monaco attacker Maghnes Akliouche as an alternative to Manchester City's Savinho due to the £60 million the Etihad Stadium club are demanding. Kubo, a long-term target of the North London club, is also back on their radar, and he has a €60 million (£52m) release clause. Diario AS claim 'money isn't an issue' for Tottenham, but it remains to be seen whether a concrete move is on the cards for the Japan international. Despite the Reds having four elite options at centre-back, the arrival of Guehi would add an element of solidity to the team. However, signing the Englishman hasn't quite been as straightforward is we thought, since he will be available for free next season and the Eagles are currently haggling on the asking price to let him go. Tsimikas had featured a little at centre-back during pre-season, when the stocks of defenders were low, and until Guehi arrives once the negotiations have reached a positive outcome, Arne Slot might consider keeping the Greek international, purely to cover all bases, using him as a last resort. As such, the anticipated loan move could be put on hold until a last minute call on Guehi is made. The Athletic's intel also suggested that no replacements for Guehi would be looked at if his move doesn't come to fruition - this would be an internal solution that Slot will now doubt have considered.
