Ireland wins third straight cricket test after beating Zimbabwe on final day
The Irish gained full member status with the ICC in 2017, allowing them to play test cricket. They lost their first seven matches at test level.
However, they beat Afghanistan in March last year and now have back-to-back wins over Zimbabwe, with left-arm spinner Matthew Humphreys claiming a six-wicket haul to help seal victory on the fifth and final day.
Zimbabwe was set a target of 292 but fell short despite Wessly Madhevere making 84.
Ireland captain Andy Balbirnie said he was unaware when the team's next test match will be.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Jeff McNeil has a sore right shoulder, the latest nagging injury for the New York Mets as they try to recover from a late-summer swoon. McNeil was out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale at Washington, with Brett Baty starting at second base. One of the Mets' most consistent hitters, McNeil went 4 for 8 with a homer, two doubles and five RBIs in the previous two games against the Nationals. 'It doesn't bother him to swing the bat. It's just more the throwing,' manager Carlos Mendoza said. The shoulder problem began late last week, Mendoza said, which is why McNeil started at designated hitter on Saturday and Sunday. Brandon Nimmo was also out of the lineup Thursday with the stiff neck that forced him to leave Wednesday night's game in the second inning. Tyrone Taylor started in left field. The Mets had a three-game winning streak before Wednesday night's loss, but the team with the biggest payroll in the majors is just 5-15 since July 28. New York entered Thursday trailing Philadelphia by 6 1/2 games in the NL East and was one game ahead of Cincinnati for the final wild-card spot. ___

Hojgaard tied for 12th after first round of British Masters in bid to get into Ryder Cup team
BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) — Rasmus Hojgaard shot a 3-under 69 in the first round of the British Masters on Thursday as the Danish golfer started his bid to clinch an automatic place on Europe's team for the Ryder Cup. Hojgaard needs to finish in a two-way tie for 29th or better in the tournament being held at The Belfry to earn enough points to overtake Shane Lowry, who is clinging onto sixth place in the list of automatic qualifiers. Hojgaard is currently in a tie with five other players — including his twin brother, Nicolai — for 12th place, three shots off the lead shared by Marcel Siem, Li Haotong, Matthias Schwab and Thomas Aiken. The top six get into the European team automatically. Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Robert MacIntyre and Tyrrell Hatton are already guaranteed to be at next month's matches at Bethpage Black. Lowry is not competing in the British Masters. Luke Donald will announce his six captain's picks to complete the 12-man team on Sept. 1. ___
