Delhi govt directs chemist shops in south district to install CCTV cameras
New Delhi, Aug 19 (PTI) The Delhi government has made it mandatory for medical shops selling a few specific categories of medicines in the city's south district to install CCTV cameras on and outside their premises to curb the sale of prescription drugs without authorisation.
The August 18 order states the measure was endorsed in a meeting between the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) and the south district authorities on July 29.
It was decided in the meeting that installing surveillance cameras in medical shops is necessary as a preventive step against the misuse of dual-use medicines.
'In case of non-compliance, appropriate legal action shall be initiated against the defaulter in accordance with law," the order stated.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Manish Nureti, along with two others, was taken by a group of armed Naxalites, when they stormed his native Binagunda village under Chhotebetiya police station limits on Monday. An official said the Naxals held a 'Jan Adalat', where Nureti was executed for being a police informer, while the two other villagers were released after a beating. The Maoist ultras put up a poster claiming Nureti was a police informer, which is untrue,' said Kanker SP IK Elesela, adding that the victim's body is yet to recovered, and his kin are being contacted. 'Naxalites frequently visit Binagunda village. In the last one-and-half years, Naxalites have killed four-five people after accusing them of being police informers. However, none of the deceased had any connection to police,' Elesela said, according to PTI. 'This non-regularisation of home guard service is a conspiracy. I know the reality behind the delays in effecting Supreme Court and high court orders. I also know who all are behind it,' claimed Mallik. He also offered to undergo a polygraph test if he resorted to telling lies. 'If the CM finds my claims questionable, I am ready for even a polygraph test. If found guilty of any aberrations, I will gladly embrace whatever punishment is given to me,' he said. 'There may be a threat to my life before August 25. But if I survive till then, I will give proof of what all conspiracy is being hatched against our service,' he added. He urged the chief minister to allow him time to meet him personally so that he would produce evidence of what he claims. 'On August 25, I will end my life in front of Vidhan Sabha if I am not allowed a chance to put forth my concerns,' Mallik said.
