When used consistently, these remedies can improve skin tone, texture, and overall appearance, making your skincare routine both affordable and results-driven
Tips and DIY treatments to lighten your dark coloured neck
1. Potato juice
Potato contains natural enzymes and mild bleaching agents that help lighten pigmentation over time.
Its vitamin C content also supports skin brightening and even tone.
How to use: Grate a raw potato, extract the juice, and apply it to the neck for 15–20 minutes daily. Rinse with lukewarm water.
2. Aloe vera gel
Aloe vera contains aloin, a natural depigmenting compound, and has soothing, anti-inflammatory properties. It helps moisturize and brighten the skin.
How to use: Apply pure aloe vera gel to the neck before bedtime. Leave overnight and rinse in the morning.
Use daily for best results.
3. Apple cider vinegar (diluted)
The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar helps balance skin pH and gently exfoliates dead skin cells.
How to use: Mix equal parts ACV and water. Apply with a cotton ball, leave on for 5 minutes, then rinse. Use 2–3 times a week.
4. Yogurt, turmeric, and gram flour mask
This traditional Ayurvedic combo helps exfoliate, brighten, and smoothen the skin. Yogurt provides lactic acid, turmeric reduces pigmentation, and gram flour removes dead cells.

How to use: Mix 1 tbsp yogurt, ½ tsp turmeric, and 1 tbsp gram flour. Apply for 15 minutes, then wash off. Use twice a week.
5. Lemon juice (Optional use with caution)
Rich in vitamin C and citric acid, lemon can help lighten dark patches—but may cause irritation or dryness.
How to use: Mix with honey or rose water for a gentler effect. Apply, leave for 10 minutes, and rinse. Use only at night and always follow with sunscreen.
6. Cleansers with AHAs or BHAs
Gentle exfoliants like glycolic acid (AHA) or salicylic acid (BHA) remove buildup, unclog pores, and promote cell turnover for brighter skin.
How to use: Choose a mild exfoliating cleanser and use 2–3 times a week. Avoid overuse to prevent irritation.
7. Cucumber pulp or juice
Cucumber is cooling and hydrating. It helps soothe the skin and may reduce mild pigmentation when used consistently.
How to use: Apply grated cucumber or juice directly to the neck for 20 minutes. Wash off and moisturize.
8. Baking soda scrub
Baking soda acts as a gentle exfoliant that helps remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and even out skin tone. It can also reduce the appearance of dark patches when used in moderation.
How to use: Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with enough water to form a paste. Gently scrub the neck area in circular motions for 2–3 minutes, then rinse. Use this 2–3 times per week and always moisturize afterward.

Fatty liver: Why even healthy, fit people are at risk and don't know about it
You may feel healthy, look fit, and go about your day without much trouble-but your liver might be silently waving a red flag. Fatty liver disease, once linked only with alcohol abuse, is now showing up in women, children, fitness enthusiasts, and even teetotallers. It's quiet. It's sneaky. And if you miss the early signs, the consequences can be far-reaching. What causes fatty liver? In one word-lifestyle Your liver suffers when you consume that packet of instant noodles, deep-fried chips, frozen pizza, or a sugary iced coffee from a café. These contemporary food choices, which are loaded with hydrogenated fats, refined sugars, palm oil, and preservatives, overwhelm the liver with toxins that it cannot adequately process. And it's not just adults-children as young as 10 are showing early signs of fatty liver, thanks to soft drinks, junk food, and a lack of physical activity. 7 Ways to check for fatty liver at home Alcohol, of course, remains a major culprit-but it's not the only one. Even non-drinkers develop what's now called Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). Sedentary habits, stress, irregular sleep cycles, late-night eating, and skipping meals all contribute to sluggish liver function and fat accumulation in liver cells. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tan Dinh: Unsold Furniture Liquidation 2024 (Prices May Surprise You) Unsold Furniture | Search Ads Learn More Undo So how does the body signal that something is off? Until blood reports raise concerns, these subtle symptoms-such as persistent fatigue, dull skin, slight pain or heaviness under your right rib, frequent bloating, mood swings, trouble losing belly fat, and even bad breath-are frequently disregarded. The good news? Your liver has an extraordinary power to regenerate-if you allow it to. Here's how to begin healing naturally: Begin your mornings with warm water, lemon juice, and a pinch of grated ginger. It stimulates bile flow and aids detox. Add Ayurvedic herbs like punarnava, kalmegh, bhumyamalaki, and kutki under guidance-they are powerful liver rejuvenators. Ditch processed food and embrace whole grains like jowar, bajra, ragi, and red rice. Use mustard oil, ghee, or cold-pressed oils. Snack on soaked walnuts, almonds, and seeds. Healthy fats help flush stored liver fat. Move your body. Walk, stretch, do yoga-or dance to your favourite song. Prioritise sleep and reduce stress. The liver repairs at night, and stress hormones only worsen the condition. Your liver is your body's detox factory. Treat it with the respect it deserves, and it will return the favour with lifelong vitality. Don't wait for a report to remind you start the reversal today. Monica B. Bengaluru cops on lookout for fake doc who ran clinic for 10 years
Bengaluru: Alerted by an anonymous complaint, police are on the lookout for a man who allegedly ran a medical clinic for years fraudulently at Doddakannahalli. The alleged quack, Munendrachari K, ran a clinic called 'Health Line Poly Clinic' for almost a decade while posing as a family physician. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The Bengaluru Urban district health officer (DHO) assigned the KR Pura in-charge taluk health officer, Dr BB Raghunath, to investigate the issue after an anonymous complaint was sent to the health department in March. The complaint said Munendrachari, who is in his mid-40s, claimed to be an Ayurvedic doctor but was prescribing allopathic medicines to his patients and also giving steroid injections, causing side effects. During his investigation, Dr Raghunath found the clinic had the names of two doctors on its display board — one with MBBS and MD, and Munendrachari with only the title of family physician. The clinic's prescription letterhead had the same information. A notice was issued to the two men on April 3, asking them to produce their medical degrees. Munendrachari received the notice but didn't produce his degree. During the verification of documents collected after an inspection of the clinic on April 15, officials found that the clinic's registration was valid from Aug 18, 2023, to Aug 17, 2028. However, it was registered as an Ayurveda clinic. Health department officials also found that the certificate submitted by Munendrachari at the time of registration was fake. On May 5, Dr Raghunath found that the clinic was closed and there was no board on it. When he inquired, he was told Munendrachari had shut down operations a few days ago. Dr Raghunath subsequently filed a police complaint, and a case was registered under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 318 (cheating), 319 (cheating by personation), 336 (forgery), and 340 (forged document or electronic record and using it as genuine).

100 years of solace: Tripunithura Govt Ayurveda College sails into centenary year
In abundance of medicinal plants and a long lineage of expert practitioners have made Kerala a sanctum of Ayurveda. And nowhere is this made more profound than at the Government Ayurveda College, a century-old institution in Puthiyakavu near Tripunithura, Kochi. A cluster of Nalpamaram — arayal, pearl, atthi and itthi (resin-bearing ficus trees used in skin treatments) — adorns the college's entranceway. Their presence, and even their fragrance, is symbolic of its rich Ayurvedic heritage. 'While the college is indeed 100 years old, it began very modestly elsewhere — in Tripunithura, the stronghold of the erstwhile Cochin kingdom,' says Dr Jayan Damodaran, an associate professor. 'This new campus was set up only in 1973.'
