"There is no better way to raise the profile of women's sport than by participating in the most important sporting event in the world, a FIFA World Cup. We are currently working on it," RFEF president Rafael Louzan said on the sidelines of a conference in the University of Madrid.
The Spanish federation are bidding to restore the organisation's image after several non-sporting scandals in recent years.
Former president Luis Rubiales resigned in disgrace in September 2023 after forcibly kissing Women's World Cup star Jenni Hermoso on the lips following Spain's triumph in Sydney.
His successor Pedro Rocha was suspended for overstepping his duties after initially arriving on an interim basis, with Louzan taking the reins in December 2024.
Spain will also host the 2030 men's World Cup alongside Morocco and Portugal in a new format with the first group stage matches played in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, to celebrate the centenary of the first edition of the competition.

Real Madrid coach Ancelotti to go on trial for tax fraud

Prosecutors are seeking a jail term of four years and nine months for the 65-year-old Italian, accusing him of having cost Spain's treasury more than €1 million ($1.1 million) in undeclared earnings from image rights in 2014 and 2015. The trial will begin on Wednesday and it is expected to last two days, a spokesman for the court said. Ancelotti, who as a coach has won a record five Champions League trophies including three with Real, must be present for the hearings, he added. Prosecutors accuse him of only declaring in his tax returns the personal remuneration received from Real Madrid during those two years even though he himself declared himself to be a tax resident in Spain and indicated his home was in Madrid. They accuse Ancelotti of allegedly setting up a "confusing" and "complex" system of shell companies to hide his extra earnings from his image rights as well as from other sources such as real estate. A Spanish court in 2023 ordered Ancelotti to stand trial over the affair, but did not set a date. Ancelotti dismissed the affair last year as "an old story that I hope will be resolved soon" when he was asked about the case. He took over at Real Madrid in 2013, leaving in May 2015, before being appointed at Bayern Munich the following year. The former Italy international midfielder, who as a player won the European Cup twice with AC Milan, later managed Napoli and Everton before returning to Real Madrid in 2021. Aside from his success in the Champions League he has won domestic league titles with Madrid and Milan, in England with Chelsea, in Germany with Bayern Munich and in France with Paris Saint-Germain.

'Now it's over' says Spain's Hermoso after Rubiales found guilty

A judge at Spain's High Court on Thursday found Rubiales guilty of sexual assault over the kiss and fined him 10,800 euros ($11,300), but spared him a prison sentence. "After everything, this will create an important precedent in a social environment where there is still much to be done," said the player in a post on social media platform Instagram. "I have my heart full with each of the people who have been, are, and will continue with me in this fight. "And now, yes, it's over." The phrase "it's over" was used by Hermoso and her team-mates in their fight for justice after the incident, which occurred after Spain won the women's World Cup in September 2023. Rubiales initially refused to resign from his position as federation chief but eventually departed under immense global pressure. On Friday, the footballer's lawyer, Angel Chavarria, told AFP that his intention was to appeal the sentence, with prosecutors having sought a prison term of two-and-a-half years for Rubiales. the kiss was consensual. The 47-year-old also said after the verdict that he will appeal.
