Martha Wainwright on music, mothering and finding her voice

Martha Wainwright is descended from extraordinary songwriters on both sides of her family.
Her mother was folk musician Kate McGarrigle and her father is Loudon Wainwright III.
Despite a lifetime of witnessing painful family truths delivered through song, she made it her life's work too.
A few years ago her beloved mum was diagnosed with cancer while Martha was pregnant with her first child.
As Kate succumbed to her illness, she passed the baton of life onto Martha's premature baby boy.
Martha recently wrote a memoir about life inside her famous musical family.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, shares rare photos of daughter Lilibet for birthday

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has shared rare photos of her daughter Princess Lilibet to mark the young royal's fourth birthday. The Duchess posted two black and white images of herself on Instagram, in which she was cradling her daughter. The first was a more recent image and the second was of Lilibet as a newborn. "Happy birthday to our beautiful girl!" she wrote. "Four years ago today she came into our lives - and each day is brighter and better because of it. "Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!" The youngest child of Prince Harry and Meghan was born on June 4, 2021 — a year after they stepped back from royal duties and moved to the United States. She became a princess when King Charles III took the throne. The couple's eldest child Prince Archie, 6, is also in the royal line of succession. Her full name Lilibet Diana is in honour of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Harry's mother Diana. In February, the Duchess announced a rebrand of her lifestyle range, with the label's new website also featuring a photo of Princess Lilibet.

Ocean Alley return with their fifth album, Love Balloon

Ocean Alley are finally locking in their return with their fifth studio album, Love Balloon . It sure feels like it's been an age since we've heard from the Northern Beaches six piece beyond the odd track, so it's exciting to know that their next big project sits just on the other side of winter. Love Balloon will be with us on September 19. We've had our first taste of the new Ocean Alley record with 'Tangerine' and 'Left Of The Dealer' (their first releases since 2022's Low Altitude Living ), and now we have another morsel through the album's title track, 'Love Balloon'. This new one sees the band expanding on their infectious grooves with bright, soulful and deliriously loved-up lyricism. Watch this one get immediately added to wedding playlists right across the board. With their fifth album, Ocean Alley set out to explore all facets of love beyond what we project to the public – they're going warts and all. "Not just the cinematic kind where you're falling head over heels," keyboardist and vocalist Lach Galbraith said. "The full spectrum; joy, hurt, discomfort and disappointment. Let's call it the river of love – whether it's with a partner, a friend, or family, you'll never know when it'll get deep, go shallow, or suddenly change course. "It's such a force that you have to just surrender to its current." Ocean Alley are heading off to chase the sun on a North American tour in July and returning again in October, with a couple of cheeky shows in Europe and the UK around the time the album drops. But we bet the call of the Australian summer will lure them back home soon enough.

A one-night stand brought this couple together — now they have 11 children

A real-life 'Cheaper by the Dozen' family. One-night stands can usually go one of two ways. This couple got together for a night, fell in love and the rest is history. Alicia and Josh Dougherty moved in together after only knowing each other for two days — and now they are the parents to 11 children. The New York-based family has quite a following on social media – 7.5 million TikTok followers to be exact – where they consistently post videos about the chaos of life as a family of 13. The couple have four biological children — Zoey, Dash, Bodhi and Harlee — and eight children that they're fostering or adopting: Alex, James, Jordan, Jason, Patrick, Bree, Nevaeh and Dayshawn. With such a massive following, it's clear people cannot get enough of this charming family. Oftentimes, Alicia will provide a glimpse to the family's millions of followers of what a day of feeding her kids looks like. While the jaw-dropping spread looks like something a person would only find at a hotel buffet breakfast — in the Dougherty household, it's just another regular day for them. To feed the mouths of that many kids — the couple revealed on TikTok that an average trip to Walmart consists of filling up four shopping carts supposedly totalling a little over $US1,500 – and that's just for the week. Having that many kids is clearly not for the weak. Alicia has also posted the family's morning routine, which requires making 11 sandwiches, packing monogrammed lunch bags complete with snacks and all the fixings — in addition to getting breakfast on the table – all before the kiddos head off to school. Clearly, this giant family has their routines down to a science — and viewers can't get enough of them. 'You're a great mum!' a follower commented on one of the Dougherty's videos. 'The food looks so good!! Such a sweet mum,' wrote someone else on a video of Alicia preparing breakfast and lunch for her clan. 'How does she do it?' chimed in someone else. 'How big is your fridge?!!!' someone commented on the video of Alicia food shopping for her family.
