‘Medical trip' turns deadly for UP man as wife, her lover kill him midway

A woman from Uttar Pradesh's Aurangabad district has been accused of conspiring with her lover to murder her husband after luring him on the pretext of medical treatment, police said on Saturday. According to the police cited by news agency PTI, the woman, identified as Puja, allegedly lured her husband, Bikku, on the pretext of visiting Gayaji for medical treatment.
However, during their return journey, she, along with her alleged lover Kamlesh Yadav, ran him over with a Scorpio SUV near a deserted stretch of road, killing him instantly.
Talking about the case, police said that the accused has been arrested and has confessed to her crimes. 'She killed her husband with the help of her lover. She has been arrested and has confessed to the crime. Efforts are underway to nab the other accused involved in the case,' said Kumar Rishiraj, SDPO of Daudnagar.
In a similar incident in Telangana, a 23-year-old woman and her 35-year-old lover were arrested along with six others on Friday for murdering the woman's husband, just weeks after their wedding, police said. The victim, Ganta Tejeshwar (32), a land surveyor, went missing on June 17. His body was found on June 21 near Panyam town in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh.

District SP T Srinivasa Rao said the main accused, Tirumala Rao, was in a relationship with Sujata, a sweeper at his office, and later with her daughter Aishwarya. Despite marrying Tejeshwar under family pressure on May 18, Aishwarya remained involved with Tirumala and conspired with him to kill her husband. 'Aishwarya wanted to get rid of Tejeshwar so that she could marry Tirumala Rao,' the SP said. The couple had even planned to flee to Ladakh after the murder.

Faridabad, Aug 13 (PTI) A Rajasthan native was arrested for allegedly blackmailing a man with a video of a naked woman and extorting Rs 1.27 lakh from him, police said on Wednesday. The complainant, a Sector 17 resident, alleged that he received a video call from an unknown number and found on the other end a naked woman. According to police, the accused recorded the screen and gave him another call demanding money. The complainant said he sent the blackmailer Rs 1.27 lakh through UPI, but when he asked for more money, he approached the cyber police. Police investigated the matter and identified the man behind the call as Akram, a native of Katol village in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan, an officer said. 'During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused Akram has studied till class 10 and is a truck driver. He confessed that he had called the complainant and threatened to upload his video on social media and demanded money," a spokesperson of Faridabad police said. According to police, the 25-year-old woman filed a case in 2020, alleging that Sunny Tyagi, whom she befriended while working at a company, raped her multiple times under the false promise of marriage and also used offensive caste-based slurs against her. The case was registered under IPC sections including 376 (rape), as well as provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Agency: Mumbai, Aug 13 (PTI) A court here on Wednesday acquitted Shiv Sena leader and Member of Maharashtra Legislative Council Ravindra Phatak in a 2015 cheating case. Judicial Magistrate First Class S R Nimse found Phatak and others not guilty, defence lawyer Prerak Choudhary said. The detailed order was not available yet. Based on a complaint filed by a businessman in 2015, MRA Marg police station in Mumbai had registered a case of alleged criminal breach of trust, cheating and criminal intimidation against Phatak, his wife and others. The accused cheated him of Rs 26.9 crore by luring him into investing in land in Thane by fabricating documents, the complainant had alleged.
