Inside courtroom number 1, he confirmed his name and date of birth to Senior District Judge Paul Goldsprin, before the individual charges were read out.
As had been expected given the severity of the allegations, Goldspin referred the cast to London's Central Criminal Court, where he's next due to appear on May 30. He was granted bail, but was asked to provide both his U.S. and U.K. addresses and warned about the consequences should he not appear. When asked if he understood, he simply replied 'Yes.'
The charges, which were brought last month, relate to four separate women and incidents that took place between 1999 and 2005. Among them are the allegations that in 1999 a woman was raped in the Bournemouth area of the U.K., that a woman was indecently assaulted in the Westminster area of London in 2001 and that a woman was orally raped and sexually assaulted in 2004, also in the Westminster area. Between 2004 and 2005, it's also alleged that a woman was sexually assaulted in the Westminster area. Brand has previously denied allegations against him and stressed all his relationships were consensual.
At the time the charges were brought, the police said they had begun their investigations in late September having received several allegations in the wake of a major expose undertaken by both Channel 4's 'Dispatches' documentary series and the Sunday Times.
Shortly after the news of the charges broke, Brand — who now lives in the U.S. — addressed the allegations in a social media video.
'When I was young and single, before I had my wife and family, I was a fool, was a fool before I lived in the light of the lord, I was a drug addict, sex addict and an imbecile,' he said. 'But what I never was a rapist. I've never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes.'
The 2023 expose — which included a 90-minute documentary and article in the Sunday Times — saw Brand accused of 'rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse.' A rep for the show said that 'five women, four of whom asked to remain anonymous, agreed to share their stories of serious sexual allegations in the program.'

Ryan Coogler Explains The 'Energy' Of ‘Ironheart' Marvel Series

The official trailer for Marvel Television's Ironheart has arrived. Starring Dominique Thorne, reprising her role as Riri in the MCU in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the series is executive produced by acclaimed filmmaker Ryan Coogler. 'This show has an energy to it,' Coogler described to Marvel. 'I think people will take to that scrappy optimism and that desire to persevere.' 'Riri is definitely in conversation with a street-level show like Daredevil,' Coogler continued to tease. 'You've got characters trying — both heroes and villains — to make do with what they have. Then you combine that with cosmic Marvel, characters who would be at home in Doctor Strange or WandaVision. That [mix] of street-level Marvel and magical Marvel is a pretty crazy combination.' According to Marvel, the series is set after the events of Wakanda Forever. Ironheart follows Riri as she returns to her hometown of Chicago, determined to build a state-of-the-art iron suit and make her mark on the world. After spending time in Wakanda, she has left more eager than ever to pursue her dreams, and her quest entangles her in a dangerous world of science and magic. 'That comes from publishing,' Coogler explains. 'It was very quickly realized that she was her own character in her own lane. There's a difference between [Riri] and maybe a Captain America or a Black Panther, where a mantle is being passed. This is a character who was obviously influenced by Tony Stark and inspired by him, but she is also very different and doing her own thing.' He continued, 'It's this young woman who has this chip on her shoulder and this armored exterior, but inside, she's just full of love. If that's not Chicago, I don't know what is.' Marvel Television's Ironheart is set to premiere the first three 3-episodes on June 24 at 6 p.m. PT/ 9 p.m. ET, only on Disney+. 'We've been waiting so long to bring this to the world, and it's coming at the perfect time,' Coogler boasted. 'I'm so proud of everybody in this show and excited for folks to get to see it.' Tom Cruise Says Michael B. Jordan Is 'Enormously Talented' And Shares Respect For Ryan Coogler

Tom Cruise, one of Hollywood's most coveted stars, recently gave high words of praise to Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler following the success of their Sinners film. While in NYC for a premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on Sunday (May 18), Cruise spoke to People where he reflected on meeting Jordan in London and shared how much admiration he has for him and Coogler. Speaking to Jordan's talent, work ethic, and creative partnership with Coogler, he called the Creed star 'enormously talented' and said he 'respects' the dynamic duo. 'Oh listen, it's wonderful to see him. Really, he's enormously talented, and what he and [Ryan] Coogler do together… he's a great actor,' the 62-year-old said. 'He's dedicated to his brand. I really respect him. Respect Coogler, I love that film. I love the films that they make. It's brilliant, you know, big cinema.' He also told Extra that he would 'love to make a movie' with the Newark, NJ native. Back in April, the Top Gun star snapped a pic outside a theater holding his ticket for Sinners and gave Jordan and Coogler their flowers on Instagram — encouraging moviegoers to not only see the film in theaters but to 'stay through the end credits.' Jordan returned the admiration with a heartfelt post of his own, saying, 'I was too young to see the first Mission: Impossible in theaters, but now I get a chance to watch the final one… in IMAX!!!! Much love @tomcruise.' Speaking of the thrill IMAX theaters gives viewers, fans were granted the wish to watch Sinners with the cinematic experience again for only one week (May 15-21). Warner Bros. brought the film back to IMAX after 'overwhelming popular and critical response.' 'Audiences have spoken and we listened. If ever a film needed to be experienced in this incredible larger-than-life format, it's Sinners,' said Warner Bros. Pictures president of global distribution, Jeff Goldstein, in a statement. 'Ryan has delivered a film that has been embraced by fans who appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into creating a film for this screen-filling format and we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to see it — or see it again — in 70mm IMAX.' As for The Final Reckoning, the presumed last installment in the Mission Impossible franchise hits theaters on May 23, with Ving Rhames, Angela Bassett, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, and many more starring alongside Cruise. Reflecting on the film's history, dating back to 1996 when it first premiered, Cruise told People, 'I did the best I can, and it's representing all the efforts of everyone involved at that particular moment. I really see what it takes to make these movies and what I've learned about storytelling [in] this particular genre.' Ryan Coogler Confirms Whether Or Not A ‘Sinners' Sequel Is In The Works

Sorry, Sinners fans, but Ryan Coogler has confirmed that our dreams of a sequel to the Michael B. Jordan-led film isn't happening. In a conversation with EBONY from April, Coogler revealed that he has no plans to do a sequel or prequel to his latest critically-acclaimed cinematic masterpiece. 'I've been in a space of making franchise films for a bit, so I wanted to get away from that,' he confessed. 'I was looking forward to working on a film that felt original and personal to me and had an appetite for delivering something to audiences that was original and unique.' Coogler continued, 'I wanted the movie to feel like a full meal: your appetizers, starters, entrees and desserts, I wanted all of it there. I wanted it to be a holistic and finished thing. That was how I was asked all about it. That was always my intention.' Fans have been demanding a prequel instead of a sequel, in an effort to get answers to lingering questions from the original film like how Smoke and Annie fell in love or what really went down with the twins in Chicago. Per Variety, Sinners earned $350 million at the global box office, making it one of the top 10 highest-grossing movies of the year. The film follows identical twin brothers Smoke and Stack, both played by Michael B. Jordan, as they return to their Mississippi home to open a juke joint with their younger cousin (Miles Caton) until they find themselves battling with a siege of blood-thirsty vampires.
