Collector orders measures for smooth civil services prelims
Tirupati: District Collector Dr S Venkateswar has instructed officials to ensure all necessary arrangements are made for the smooth and fair conduct of the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025, scheduled to be held on May 25. Chairing a review meeting on Tuesday, the Collector discussed exam-related preparations with DRO G Narasimhulu and other concerned officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Venkateswar stated that 13 examination centres have been arranged across Tirupati district, where 5,261 candidates are expected to appear for the examination. He emphasised that the exam should be conducted in an orderly manner, without any irregularities or lapses.
The preliminary examination will be held in two sessions: the first session from 9.30 am to 11.30 am, and the second session from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. The Collector directed that all arrangements, including logistics, security, and basic amenities, be in place ahead of the exam day.
Mobile phones, electronic devices, smart watches, wireless headsets, and other electronic gadgets will not be permitted inside the exam centres. Section 144 will be enforced around the exam centers to maintain law and order. The Collector also instructed the officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply, provision of drinking water, and availability of clean toilet facilities at all centres. He further asked the RTC authorities to arrange adequate bus services to help candidates reach the centres on time. Tirupati RDO Ramamohan and other officials were present.

HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday alleged that the BRS leaders, when they were in power, looted the state like bandits. Referring to BRS MLC K Kavitha's recent remarks against her own party leaders, he said: 'Even their own family members are now exposing the BRS leaders.' The deputy CM was addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation for 12 sub-stations at Devarakadra. He emphasised that real democracy is being upheld now with funds being spent on public welfare under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Efforts are being made to transform Telangana into a globally competitive state, he added. After laying the stone for 12 sub-stations, he said that the government will fast-track the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme works by releasing required funds. He also announced that funds for R&R and land acquisition would be released immediately. 'The gap between the Narlapur and Edula reservoirs will be filled with necessary funding,' he said and recalled that when `70 crore was needed for the Uddandapur R&R package, the government released them without any hesitation. Referring to Krishna river water, he said the people of Palamuru region dreamed of utilising these waters, which is why they demanded a separate state. 'But during their 10-year rule, the previous rulers couldn't provide irrigation even to a single acre,' he said. The deputy CM also said that all major irrigation projects in the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district — Jurala, Koilsagar, Bheema, Nettempadu, and Kalwakurthy — were completed by the Congress governments. 'If the previous Congress government had given permission for the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, then in June 2015, KCR laid the foundation at Karivena and promised to complete it in three years. It's been 10 years... why couldn't he provide water?' he asked. Vikramarka hailed the free RTC bus travel scheme for women across the state and wondered why the 'financially sound' BRS government failed to implement it earlier. He said the current people's government aims to turn one crore women into crorepatis within five years. 'As part of this, within the first year of our rule, `21,000 crore interest-free loans have been given to self-help groups.' he said. 'You don't need to be an MLA to do business or get contracts,' he said and added, 'You need to elect MLAs who will raise the people's voice in the Assembly and protect democratic values. I congratulate the people of Mahbubnagar for electing such representatives.'

Bhatti Vikramarka Vows to Turn Palamuru's Drylands Green with Timely Completion of Lift Irrigation Project
Mahabubnagar: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka reiterated the Telangana government's firm commitment to completing the long-delayed Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and transforming the parched lands of Mahabubnagar into fertile agricultural zones. Speaking at a massive public meeting after laying foundation stones for power infrastructure projects worth ₹72 crore in Moosapet mandal of Devarakadra constituency, the Deputy CM accused previous governments of neglecting the region and misleading people with hollow promises. Bhatti Vikramarka laid the foundation for one 132/33 kV substation and twelve 33/11 kV substations, signaling the government's intent to improve power supply to rural and farming communities. He announced that all necessary funds for completing the irrigation project—including for resettlement, rehabilitation, and land acquisition—will be released without delay. He cited the approval of ₹70 crore for the Uddandapur R&R package as evidence of the government's sincerity. He sharply criticized the previous BRS regime, questioning why the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, launched in 2015 with a foundation stone laid by then CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao, remained incomplete even after ten years. He condemned the symbolic activation of pumps just before elections as nothing more than a publicity stunt and stated that the Congress-led administration, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is now working with a genuine people-centric approach. The Deputy CM also highlighted key welfare initiatives being rolled out by the government. He noted that 4.5 lakh houses are being constructed under the Indiramma Housing Scheme with an allocation of ₹22,500 crore. For Devarakadra alone, 3,500 houses have been sanctioned. Other major schemes include 24x7 free power supply to farmers, free 200 units of domestic electricity to 50 lakh households, free RTC travel for women, and the launch of the 'Rajiv Yuva Vikasam' scheme to support five lakh unemployed youth. He also announced the ₹12,600 crore 'Indira Solar Girijana Vikasam' for the benefit of tribal communities through solar pumps, borewells, and cultivation support on 6.7 lakh acres. At Nawabpet in Jadcherla constituency, Bhatti Vikramarka laid the foundation for a 132/33 kV substation with an outlay of ₹42 crore and sixteen 33/11 kV substations costing ₹54.37 crore. In his address, he slammed the previous government for betraying Palamuru and assured that the Congress government would set a new benchmark in governance. On this occasion, 200 sewing machines were distributed to minority women and Indiramma housing documents were handed over to beneficiaries. The event witnessed the participation of Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao, MLAs Anirudh Reddy, Madhusudan Reddy, and Megha Reddy, District Collector G. Vijayendra Boi, and senior officials from TRANSCO, TGSPSCDL, and other departments. DCCB Chairman Vishnu Vardhan Reddy was also present. Several development proposals including new hospitals, colleges, transformer repair centers, and trauma care units were also discussed during the meeting.

Under the 200 units free electricity scheme, 81,121 households received 9.43 lakh zero bills amounting to ₹24.39 crores. To ensure women's financial empowerment, initiatives like power plants, petrol bunks, and women's canteens have been set up. In Shilparamam, 100 Indira Mahila Shakti stalls were inaugurated. Through women's groups, 600 buses were purchased and leased to RTC, with 150 already delivered. Highlighting a landmark in Indian agricultural history, he stated that in just 8 months, the government waived ₹20,617 crores in farm loans benefiting 25.35 lakh farmers, including ₹513.99 crores for 58,113 farmers in Gadwal. Through the Rythu Bharosa scheme, ₹12,000 per acre is being provided. For the 2024–25 Rabi season, ₹140.96 crores were credited to 1,34,400 farmers. He informed that procurement payments are being made within 24 hours. This season, 87,065 metric tonnes of paddy were purchased from 13,748 farmers via 75 procurement centers, with ₹146.39 crores credited to 9,875 farmers. Compensation of ₹10,000 per acre was given to farmers affected by unseasonal rains. A bonus of ₹500 per quintal was paid for 54,798 metric tonnes of fine rice, totaling ₹27.39 crores. Landless agricultural laborers are receiving ₹12,000 annually under the Indiramma Aatmiya Bharosa scheme. Welfare programs like Indiramma houses and subsidized rice are addressing hunger. In June, three months of free rice is being distributed in advance. He stated that Telangana is leading in welfare and social justice. Telangana is the first state to implement Scheduled Caste categorization and is committed to providing 42% reservations for BCs. To ensure job security for youth, 60,000 government jobs are being filled and 3 lakh crores in investments are bringing one lakh private jobs. Under the Rajiv Abhaya Hastam scheme, financial aid is being given to civil services aspirants. The state has set a goal of becoming a trillion-dollar economy. As part of revolutionary changes in education, the SSC pass percentage in Gadwal increased from 81.38% in 2024 to 91.74% in 2025, a notable growth of 10.36%. Construction of 58 Young India Model Schools over 25 acres is underway. A new medical college is being established in Gadwal to promote medical education. A dedicated education commission has been formed. Under Indiramma Housing, 4.5 lakh houses are being built statewide, with 3,500 per constituency. For tribal welfare, 10,000 homes and the Indira Solar Giri Water Development program were initiated for irrigation and power needs. The Bhoo Bharathi Act – 2025 was introduced to solve land issues permanently and protect government lands. It simplifies buying/selling of agricultural land. Pilot revenue sabhas (meetings) were held in 4 mandals, and similar events have been conducted in Ieeja mandal, Gadwal. Between June 3 to 20, sabhas will be held in all remaining revenue villages to make Telangana land-dispute free. So far, 43,670 land disputes have been resolved under Bhoo Bharathi. Plans have been drawn to develop Hyderabad into a global city. Metro Rail expansion has started. GHMC merged the Cantonment Board as per public demand. A new city called Future City is being planned across 30,000 acres. Development planning divides the state into Core Urban, Urban, and Rural Zones.
