Tirupati district gears up for full monsoon season
Tirupati: In view of the early arrival of the southwest monsoon, widespread rainfall is expected across the district. District Collector Dr S Venkateswar has instructed officials to remain vigilant and ensure full preparedness to tackle any challenges that may arise during the rainy season. Along with DRO G Narasimhulu, the Collector conducted a review meeting on Friday, issuing detailed instructions to officials from various departments. Emphasising the need for a comprehensive and robust action plan, Dr Venkateswar urged authorities to draw on past experiences to implement preventive measures more effectively this year. Officials were asked to follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Disaster Management Authority and work in close coordination. The Collector directed the establishment of control rooms at the district, division, and mandal levels, with dedicated phone lines and toll-free numbers to be made available to the public. Panchayat secretaries and engineering assistants were instructed to jointly inspect tanks and canal bunds and submit reports on their condition. The Health Department was told to ensure that all medical officers, ANMs, and ASHA workers remain alert and that adequate stocks of medicines and medical equipment are maintained at all health centres. Special instructions were also issued to the police, fire, planning, revenue, irrigation, and panchayat departments. Departments such as Irrigation, Electricity (APEPDCL), Revenue, Agriculture, and Horticulture were directed to take immediate preventive action. Special attention was urged for flood-prone zones identified during last year's heavy rains. Reiterating the district administration's primary responsibility to protect citizens, the Collector called for full-scale preparedness. He warned of the risks posed by thunderstorms and lightning during the rainy season and instructed officials to raise awareness among the public and take precautions to prevent harm to both people and livestock and set up rehabilitation centres. The meeting was attended by RDOs of Srikalahasti, Sullurpeta, and Tirupati – Bhanu Prakash Reddy, Kiranmayi and Rammohan, DPO Suseela Devi and other officials.

Collector orders measures for smooth civil services prelims
Tirupati: District Collector Dr S Venkateswar has instructed officials to ensure all necessary arrangements are made for the smooth and fair conduct of the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025, scheduled to be held on May 25. Chairing a review meeting on Tuesday, the Collector discussed exam-related preparations with DRO G Narasimhulu and other concerned officials. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Venkateswar stated that 13 examination centres have been arranged across Tirupati district, where 5,261 candidates are expected to appear for the examination. He emphasised that the exam should be conducted in an orderly manner, without any irregularities or lapses. The preliminary examination will be held in two sessions: the first session from 9.30 am to 11.30 am, and the second session from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. The Collector directed that all arrangements, including logistics, security, and basic amenities, be in place ahead of the exam day. Mobile phones, electronic devices, smart watches, wireless headsets, and other electronic gadgets will not be permitted inside the exam centres. Section 144 will be enforced around the exam centers to maintain law and order. The Collector also instructed the officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply, provision of drinking water, and availability of clean toilet facilities at all centres. He further asked the RTC authorities to arrange adequate bus services to help candidates reach the centres on time. Tirupati RDO Ramamohan and other officials were present.

All set for Intermediate advanced supplementary exams
Tirupati / Chittoor: All necessary arrangements have been completed for the Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations scheduled to be held from May 12 to May 20, 2025, announced Revenue Officers G Narasimhulu of Tirupati district and K Mohan Kumar of Chittoor district. The officers conducted review meetings with concerned officials in their respective districts to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examinations. The first-year exams will be held from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm, while the second-year exams will take place from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. In Tirupati district, a total of 64 examination centres have been set up, and 30,182 students are expected to appear. Three Deputy Tahsildars will be deployed as Flying Squad Officers to monitor the examination process. In Chittoor district, 15,377 students will appear for the exams across 35 centres. Officials emphasised that mobile phones, electronic gadgets, smartwatches, and wireless headsets are strictly prohibited inside the examination centres. Measures for security, uninterrupted electricity, RTC bus facilities, and emergency medical services will be in place. Medical staff will be stationed at key locations, and clean drinking water and proper toilet facilities will be ensured. Officials have also instructed APSRTC to arrange timely transport for students to reach their centres without delay. The review meetings were attended by the Regional Inspection Officers GV Prabhakar Reddy of Tirupati and Srinivasulu of Chittoor district along with other departmental officials.
