Coordination was a key topic, particularly regarding the completion of electrical works, energising certain substations, and synchronising these efforts with agricultural development schedules—especially planting seasons.
The meeting further addressed the construction of distribution networks and installation of transmission lines across various voltage levels, with particular attention to ensuring power supply for distribution panels serving irrigation pump stations. Special focus was given to the northern supply point at the Hammam pump stations.
Participants underlined the importance of adhering to project timelines and providing temporary power sources to meet immediate demands until transformer stations are fully completed and integrated into the national grid. These measures form part of a broader strategy to guarantee reliable electricity supply, implement sustainable energy solutions, maintain grid stability, and improve power quality.
Shaker directed that the current action plan be revised to reflect the critical need for a stable and continuous power supply. He called for accelerating the implementation of several transformer stations and highlighted the importance of close coordination among all stakeholders. To expedite technical work, he urged increasing work shifts and intensifying efforts related to tower installations along transmission line routes.
The Minister stressed the need to overcome any obstacles, reaffirming the priority of completing projects and starting operations as scheduled, given their central role in supporting agricultural development initiatives. He also confirmed readiness to supply electricity from nearby sources to ensure the timely start of production across all projects.
Shaker emphasised that meeting deadlines is integral to the state's sustainable development strategy and vision to create integrated agricultural, industrial, and urban communities. He reiterated the Ministry's commitment to ensuring reliable electricity access for all sectors, with a special focus on supporting land reclamation and agricultural projects to boost self-sufficiency in strategic crops.
He also highlighted the need to enhance energy system efficiency and implement both urgent and long-term solutions to stabilise the national grid and improve service quality. This includes expanding renewable energy use, optimising the performance of power generation stations, and securing adequate electricity supplies for new projects, particularly those linked to land reclamation, agro-industrial development, and greenhouse farming under the Mostakbal Misr initiative.
Shaker concluded by stressing that providing reliable electricity across all sectors is a cornerstone of sustainable development, essential for driving economic growth, attracting investment, and supporting the state's broader plans for industrial and agricultural expansion.

UAE, Thursday, July, 2025- The Ministry of Sports convened the second 'Customer Councils' session of 2025, as part of its commitment to strengthening partnerships with private sector sports organisations and national federations. In line with the 'We the UAE 2031' vision under the 'Forward Ecosystem' pillar, the session sought to advance the goals of the Zero Bureaucracy programme by improving the quality of sports services provided to customers, as well as streamlining sports licensing services. Held at the Oxygen Gym in Dubai, the second edition of the council was attended by specialised teams from the Ministry of Sports and over 30 representatives from the National Paralympic Committee, Dubai Sports Council, Sharjah Sports Council, and Fujairah Municipality, and various sports clubs, private sports centres and sports federations. The Ministry of Sports emphasized that the second Customer Councils of 2025 reflected the Ministry's aim to promote a customer-driven approach in service design. As a vital part of the long-term growth and development of the sporting ecosystem, we highly prioritise enhancing the private sector's contributions to the advancement of sporting activities. We believe that customers are best equipped to identify challenges and present ideas that elevate services. In an effort to streamline the process, the Ministry highlighted that the elimination of redundant documentation and requirements, which reduces the number of data fields needed to obtain services, as well as the use of state-of-the-art technologies in the Sportifai platform. It further reaffirmed that the Ministry's goal to deliver an integrated and smart experience that enhances customer satisfaction, elevates performance efficiency, and strengthens institutional governance frameworks in the national sports sector. Participants emphasised the significance of holding these councils on a regular basis, as they serve as an ideal practical platform for exchanging experiences and ideas, accelerating service improvements, encouraging innovation in the sports sector, and establishing an efficient and sustainable sports environment. They also commended the Ministry's commitment towards the initiative and its efforts to strengthen the sporting ecosystem. Following the session, specialised work teams within the Ministry reviewed and analysed the feedback and suggestions made by representatives of sports organisations to categorise these insights and pinpoint any possible gaps in service delivery. The 'Customer Councils' session represents the Ministry's proactive efforts to create a flexible, intelligent and integrated sports service system that is transparent and simple to navigate. The Ministry is coordinating with authorities in the sisterly State of Libya to address the situation. Upon receiving initial information about the incident, the Egyptian Consulate General in Benghazi promptly dispatched a delegation to Tobruk, according to a statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The team immediately began coordinating with the relevant Libyan authorities to assess the condition of the Egyptians who were aboard the boat, the statement added. Efforts led to the identification of several bodies, and the necessary procedures have been initiated to transport them across the land border after confirmation by their families in Egypt. The consulate continues to coordinate with Libyan counterparts to finalize the transfer of other remains once their identities are confirmed. At the same time, the consulate is monitoring the conditions of a number of survivors and is preparing for their return to Egypt once ongoing investigations are completed. In addition, the Ministry reaffirmed its ongoing coordination with the Consulate General in Benghazi to follow up on all matters related to the transfer of the deceased and the swift repatriation of the survivors. Egypt FM, US senators discuss regional stability, bilateral ties
Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty held separate meetings with several key US senators in Washington to discuss regional stability, the Gaza crisis, and ways to deepen bilateral cooperation. FM Abdelatty met with US Senators Lindsey Graham, Brian Schatz, Roger Wicker, and David McCormick, according to separate statements by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday. This came during Abdelatty's visit to the United States to participate in the United Nations High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. The conference, co-organized by France and Saudi Arabia, was held on Monday and Tuesday in New York. Meeting with Graham During his meeting with Republican Senator Graham, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's regional role in supporting security and promoting peace, as well as its mediation efforts — along with Qatar and the US — to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The foreign minister stressed the urgency of achieving a permanent ceasefire as the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is catastrophic. He emphasized the importance of ensuring an unhindered influx of humanitarian aid into Gaza and launching the early recovery and reconstruction efforts. On Saturday, Israel announced a limited tactical pause in its military operations in parts of Gaza to allow the delivery of aid to starving Palestinians. Since then, Egypt has dispatched three aid convoys to Gaza on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, with the fourth sent on Wednesday. Still, Gaza is struggling to survive under the famine, as many have died as a result of Israel's policy of mass starvation and blockade. Let alone, much of the limited aid that reaches Gaza is being seized by gangs and profiteers, who resell it at exorbitant prices. Since October 2023, Israel's genocidal war on Gaza has killed over 59,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza's Health Ministry, with women and children making up more than half the dead. Moreover, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting the peace process and reaching a just and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian cause, based on the two-state solution and international legitimacy. Additionally, FM Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's concerns regarding the Nile River and Egyptian water security. He affirmed Egypt's consistent position in adhering to international law regarding shared water resources. He also affirmed the necessity of cooperation based on consensus and mutual benefit to serve the interests of all Nile Basin countries, rejecting any unilateral measures that violate international law. He further asserted that Egypt will take all necessary measures guaranteed by international law to protect its water security. Meeting with Schatz During his meeting with Schatz, Abdelatty discussed the latest developments in the Gaza crisis and the Sahel region and West Africa, shedding light on the escalating security challenges and the spread of terrorist organizations and armed groups there. He also highlighted the results of his recent tour to West Africa, emphasizing Egypt's interest in the Sahel region as a strategic neighbour. Meeting with Wicker During his meeting with Senator Wicker, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's ongoing efforts to support security and stability in the Middle East and Africa. He affirmed that the Egyptian-American partnership is a cornerstone in supporting these efforts. Egypt's top diplomat further outlined the multiple threats and challenges Egypt faces from different directions, which place increased responsibilities on it to safeguard its national security and help maintain regional and international stability. He also commended the ongoing military cooperation between Egypt and the US. Minister Abdelatty also underscored Egypt's concerns over the Nile water security issue and the need for legal cooperation on transboundary resources. Meeting with McCormick Abdelatty and McCormick discussed various regional challenges, especially the Gaza crisis, the latest developments in Libya and Syria, and the Red Sea maritime security. During the separate meetings, Minister Abdelatty praised the longstanding strategic partnership and the distinguished political, military, and economic cooperation between Egypt and the US.
