Seventh Tap Brewing and Chimp Haven team up to launch special beer

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Seventh Tap Brewing Project is partnering with Chimp Haven to celebrate the sanctuary's 30 year anniversary.
To commemorate this milestone, the brewery will launch a new limited edition sour-brew called 'Spark's Sourberry,' inspired by Chimp Haven's beloved chimpanzee, Sparky. At 36-years-old, Sparky gained attention back in 2023 when a Shreveport surgeon performed an operation to stabilize his broken jaw and remove two of his teeth. The procedure was performed by Dr. Ghali E. Ghali, renowned oral and maxillofacial surgeon for Willis Knighton Health. Ghali stepped in to help due to his experience with performing surgeries on chimpanzees.

Officials at Chimp Haven have described Sparky as a popular chimpanzee within his social group. In addition to Sparky's Sourberry brew, special edition cans will also feature Sparky. There will also be Chimp Haven merch available and documentary series 'Meet the Chimps' will be screened all day. A portion of all food and drink sales will be donated to support the sanctuary.
The event will be held at Seventh Tap Brewing Project at March 22. Tickets are not required.
