DUBAI, May 28 (Reuters) - Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala began taking orders on Wednesday for 10-year U.S. dollar-denominated Islamic bonds, or sukuk, fixed income news service IFR said.
Mamoura Diversified Global Holding, the entity through which Mubadala taps debt markets, gave initial price guidance of around 95 basis points over U.S. Treasuries, IFR said.
There has been a flurry of bond sales out of the Gulf, with issuers braving the markets despite recent turmoil set off by U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs.
Saudi oil giant Aramco raised $5 billion from a bond sale on Tuesday and the kingdom's sovereign wealth fund PIF sold $1.25 billion in sukuk earlier this month.

Biotech king Evans lands $50m injection for Ellipses cancer drugs
Sir Christopher Evans, the renowned British biotech entrepreneur, is close to landing $50m (£37m) in funding for a developer of a new portfolio of cancer treatments. Sky News has learnt Sir Christopher, whose previous companies have included Biovex and Chiroscience, is in the advanced stages of securing the capital for Ellipses Pharma. City sources said Middle Eastern and Asian investors had provisionally agreed to provide the bulk of the new funding, which is expected to be committed at a valuation of about $800m (£592m). The capital injection is expected to be the last such fundraising before Sir Christopher seeks an initial public offering for Ellipses Pharma, with Hong Kong the likeliest listing venue. Ellipses' focus on oncology has previously drawn investment from prominent backers including Sir Tom Hunter's investment vehicle, West Coast Capital. The London-based company's board members include an executive from Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund. In December, it announced the launch of a clinical trial programme in the UAE. "This tremendous commitment has led us to the point where our achievements can be brought to bear for the potential benefit of patients in UAE," Sir Christopher said at the time. "In many ways, we can now bring hope and an innovative therapy to people in the UAE and also enable healthcare professionals to collaborate and share research."

Egypt inflation seen climbing to 14.9% in May
CAIRO, June 3 (Reuters) - Egypt's annual headline inflation is forecast to have heated up in May, driven mainly by an unfavourable base effect, a Reuters poll found. The state statistics agency CAPMAS said it would release inflation figures on Wednesday, six days earlier than usual, due to the Eid al-Adha holiday that begins on Thursday. The median forecast of 12 analysts polled by Reuters was for annual urban consumer inflation to have risen to 14.9% in May from 13.9% in April. The polling data was collected on June 2 and June 3. "We expect headline CPI to accelerate to 15.5% in May from 13.9% in April, primarily due to unfavourable base, and some residual impact from energy price hikes undertaken in mid-April," said Sri Virinchi Kadiyala of Abu Dhabi's ADCB. He expected elevated real interest rates to provide ample room for the central bank to lower rates when it next meets on July 25. The government raised prices on a range of fuel products on April 11 by up to almost 15%, a move long sought by the International Monetary Fund. Egypt has committed to raising fuel prices to cover costs by the end of 2025. Annual inflation has plunged from a record high of 38% in September 2023, helped by an $8 billion financial support package signed with the IMF in March 2024. The falling inflation led the Central Bank of Egypt to cut its overnight lending rate by 225 basis points to 26.0% at its April 17 meeting, and by another 100 basis points on May 22. "The annual figure is likely to show a jump due to unfavorable base effects (nothing more)," wrote EFG Hermes economist Mohamed Abu Basha. "Hence, we do not read this jump as suggesting inflation is changing its deceleration course; it's just a bump before reverting back to the decelerating trend."

Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin approved for use in the DIFC
Ripple, the leader in enterprise blockchain and crypto solutions, today announced that its stablecoin, RLUSD, has been approved as a recognised crypto token by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) for use within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). 0 This approval reinforces RLUSD's position as a trusted, enterprise-grade stablecoin, built with regulatory compliance, utility, and transparency at its core. Alongside today's approval under the DFSA's crypto token regime, RLUSD is one of the few stablecoins globally to be issued under a New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) Trust Company Charter. With stringent safeguards including 1:1 USD backing by high-quality liquid assets, strict reserve management and asset segregation, third-party audits and clear redemption rights, RLUSD is designed to meet the highest expectations of both regulators and institutional users. 'The DFSA's approval of RLUSD is proof of our commitment to building a stablecoin that meets the highest standards of trust, transparency and utility,' said Jack McDonald, Senior Vice President of Stablecoins at Ripple. 'With regulation-first design and enterprise-grade features, RLUSD is uniquely positioned to drive institutional use of blockchain technology across global markets, starting with cross-border payments.' This recognition allows Ripple to integrate RLUSD into its DFSA-licensed flagship payments solution, combining the stability of a trusted digital dollar with a scalable, blockchain-based infrastructure and Ripple's extensive global payout network. Unlike stablecoins geared primarily toward retail users, RLUSD has been purpose-built for global enterprise utility, particularly in improving the speed, cost and efficiency of cross-border payments. The approval also enables other DFSA-licensed firms in the fast-growing DIFC to incorporate RLUSD into their virtual assets services. With almost 7,000 firms active at the end of 2024, this further supports the integration of high-quality stablecoins into Dubai's burgeoning digital assets and fintech ecosystem. Stablecoin adoption in the UAE is accelerating. According to market data, 2024 saw a 55% year-on-year increase in stablecoin transactions in the region, signalling strong demand for blockchain solutions that address the inefficiencies of traditional payment rails. With a $400BN+ market for international trade and one of the world's most progressive regulatory frameworks for digital assets, the UAE is well-positioned to become a global hub for stablecoin innovation and utility. 'The UAE continues to set a global benchmark for forward-thinking digital asset regulation and innovation,' said Reece Merrick, Managing Director Middle East and Africa (MEA) at Ripple. 'The DFSA's approval of RLUSD is yet another step forward for Ripple's operations in the region, and we're seeing huge interest from businesses of all sizes for cross-border payments and digital asset custody solutions. The UAE's digital economy is vibrant and incredibly dynamic, and we're looking forward to working with our regional partners, customers and regulators to supercharge that growth.' RLUSD's recognition by the DFSA builds on Ripple's continued momentum in the region. Alongside the recent announcement of Zand Bank and Mamo as the first customers to adopt its regulated blockchain-enabled payments offering in the UAE, Ripple is also partnering with Ctrl Alt to support the Dubai Land Department's (DLD) pioneering Real Estate Tokenization Project, which will see real estate title deeds tokenized on the XRP Ledger.
