
SSLC pass rate dips by 0.19% to 99.5, less pupils get full A+
Only 61,449 students got full A+, 10,382 fewer than last year. General education minister V Sivankutty, who announced the results, said the drop in full A+ scores is a good sign that the state syllabus board has improved its exam standards.Of the 4,27,020 students who wrote the exam, 4,24,583 qualified for higher studies. Kannur revenue district had the highest pass percentage at 99.87, while Thiruvananthapuram had the lowest at 98.59. Pala and Kuttanad scored a perfect 100%. Attingal education district, in Thiruvananthapuram, had the lowest district pass rate at 98.28%. Malappuram had the most students who wrote the SSLC exam and also the highest number of full A+ scorers (4,115).Sivankutty said the education department will investigate why some govt schools performed worse in the SSLC exam.The Technical High School Leaving Certificate (THSLC) pass rate was 99.48%. Of the 3,055 candidates, 3,039 qualified for higher studies, and 429 students scored A+ in all subjects. The pass rate for SSLC (hearing-impaired) students was 99.51%. Of the 207 candidates, 206 qualified for higher studies and 31 got full A+. All 12 candidates who appeared for the THSLC (hearing impaired) exam cleared the exam. At Kerala Kalamandalam, which runs the Art High School Leaving Certificate course, all 66 candidates who appeared for the exam passed.Sivankutty said 856 govt schools and 1,034 aided schools achieved 100% pass rates, with 441 more aided schools joining them. In total, 2,331 schools had a 100% pass rate. He also noted that this year, many SC/ST students performed well, with 98.66% of SC students and 98.02% of ST students passing the exam.Students can apply for revaluation, scrutiny and xerox copies online from May 12 to 17. The save-a-year exam for those who failed will be held from May 28 to June 2 and students can appear for up to three subjects. Certificates for those who passed will be available in DigiLocker from the first week of June.

For Classes 1 to 4, these sessions will focus on age-appropriate reading exercises, while students from Classes 5 to 12 will engage in newspaper-based activities and related follow-up will undergo training to effectively conduct these sessions, and a dedicated handbook will be developed to guide the process. School children To Get 'Grace Marks' For Reading In Kerala
Children in state-run schools in Kerala will soon receive "grace marks" for cultivating reading habits, starting from the next academic year, State General Education Minister V Sivankutty said on Wednesday. A dedicated period will be set aside for reading books, newspapers, and related activities, the minister said in a Facebook post. "Grace marks will be awarded from the next academic year to children who engage in activities that promote reading habits," Sivankutty added. For students in grades one to four, weekly sessions will focus on appropriate reading activities, while students in grades five to twelve will have similar sessions linked to newspaper reading and other follow-up exercises, he stated. Teachers will receive training, and a handbook will be prepared to guide reading-related activities. The Education Department is also considering including a reading-focused segment in "Kalolsavam," the annual school arts festival, the minister said.
