UP Court Dismisses Plea Against Rahul Gandhi Over Remarks On Lord Ram

An MP-MLA court here on Tuesday dismissed a petition filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his alleged remarks on Lord Ram during a speech at a US university last month.
Advocate Harishankar Pandey, who filed the petition, said that his plea was rejected by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Neeraj Kumar Tripathi, who deemed it "non-maintainable".
The court cited that as per the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, prior permission from the central or state government, or the district magistrate, is mandatory in such cases, Mr Pandey said.
The lawyer said he would now seek permission from the district magistrate and file the petition again.
A complaint in the matter was filed in the court on May 12 with Mr Pandey alleging that Gandhi during his speech at Brown University had described Lord Ram as a "mythological and fictional figure". Mr Pandey also demanded that an FIR be lodged under the relevant penal provisions.
Mr Pandey had termed it a "hate speech" that hurt the sentiments of "Sanatanis".

He also noted that while the DMK could not attend due to the 100th birth anniversary of the late M Karunanidhi in Tamil Nadu, the party remains fully committed to the initiative. Additionally, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is expected to write separately to the Prime Minister supporting the demand. Congress MP Deepender Hooda explained that the opposition's call for a special session was intensified after the recent ceasefire announcement by the United States in a conflict region. "We want to thank our armed forces in Parliament and discuss what measures are being taken to isolate Pakistan and how we plan to move forward," he said. Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP, echoed the sentiment of unity, stating, "We can only go to our Prime Minister. We believe that when the country was facing a threat, we stood together. We hope the PM listens to us and the government doesn't politicise this."

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 4 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari on Tuesday praised the enthusiastic reception given to Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Bhopal, describing him as the 'hero of the caste census.' He credited Gandhi's persistent efforts to bring the issue to the forefront and influenced the Centre to consider the demand for a caste-based census. 'The way the citizens of Madhya Pradesh welcomed the hero of the caste census on the streets of Bhopal was unprecedented. Also, the way Congress workers welcomed Rahul Gandhi here was very touching. I am proud of my leader who proved the saying true, 'the world bows down -- what it needs is someone who can make it bow',' Patwari told ANI. When asked about the ongoing 'Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan' and whether it could help the Congress return to power in the state, Patwari expressed strong confidence. 'We are political workers and have a political party. "Litany of Pakistan's crimes is endless," says all-party delegation member Manish Tewari
Cairo [Egypt], June 4 (ANI): All-party delegation member and Congress MP Manish Tewari said on Wednesday that it is for the first time that the story of Pakistan's crimes has been told so comprehensively. Tewari, who is a part of the delegation led by NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule, also said that India has been a victim of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism for decades now. 'The litany of Pakistan's crimes is endless, and I think for the first time, this story has been comprehensively and holistically told by our delegation to our interlocutors,' he said. He added, 'India has been successfully able to tell the story to the world that we have been victims of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism now for 45 years. It is not the unfortunate tragedy in Pahalgam alone whose fingerprints lead all the way back to Pakistan.' Tewari pointed out at Pakistan's hypocrisy that it sucked money out of the US to fund terror against the US through Osama Bin Laden. 'A state which could suck money out of the global collation against terror led by the USA and shelter, the biggest enemy of the USA (Osama bin Laden) and someone who is being hunted by the entire world, is the greatest testimony to Pakistan's doublespeak,' Tewari. Tewari added that if Pakistan continues with its military activities, India will respond and will not give in to nuclear blackmail. 'There is space for a conventional response under a nuclear overhack. If Pakistan does not stop perpetrating terror against India, there would be a punitive cost which will be imposed upon it and no longer would the paradigm of the nuclear shield or nuclear blackmail hold good or restrain India from its response,' Tewari said. He said that this time, India told the world about the seamless architecture of terror built by Pakistan. 'We have been able to tell the world that the time has come not to make a distinction between semi-state actors and the state which spawns them. This is a seamless architecture of terror. Therefore, any such distinctions are absolutely useless and non-efficacious,' he said. (ANI)
