Riot Games' League of Legends TCG is officially called Riftbound

Yahoo31-03-2025

Riot Games has unveiled new details for its upcoming tabletop game, called Riftbound - The League of Legends Trading Card Game. We first got a look at this TCG under the codename Project K in December. The latest trailer showed off new artwork for the cards, including fresh takes on the LoL characters that aren't just copies of their in-game champion portraits. The card UI has also gotten some extra polish compared with what was showed late last year.
The team at Riot has been incorporating player feedback into the game's first set, called Origins. This set will have more than 300 different cards, and familiar LoL champions including Jinx, Viktor and Lee Sin will star in pre-built decks for this inaugural set. For the serious collectors, there will also be secret rare versions of the champion cards with unique art.
In addition to the previously revealed multiplayer aspect, Riftbound offers a path for reaching fans who don't have experience in this card game genre. Riftbound will have a box called Proving Grounds where champions like Lux, Annie, Master Yi and Garen will help newer players to get acclimated to TCG basics.
The timeline for the Riftbound is also starting to firm up, with its China launch is scheduled for summer 2025. Some English speaking countries will also see the game arrive this year, but other markets will have to wait until 2026; the devs didn't specify which regions will be on which timeline.

Another ‘Gomorrah' TV Series About the Mob? Some in Naples Say ‘Basta.'

A banner fluttered in March over a narrow alley in Naples crammed with tourist shops selling Nativity figurines. Naples, it proclaimed, 'doesn't support you anymore.' The 'you' is the wildly successful Italian television crime drama 'Gomorrah,' which days earlier had begun filming a prequel — 'Gomorrah: Origins' — in the city's gritty Spanish Quarter, tracing the 1970s roots of the show's leading Camorra crime syndicate clan. Perhaps no modern pop culture reference has clung more stubbornly to Naples, Italy's third-largest city, than 'Gomorrah,' the title of Roberto Saviano's 2006 nonfiction best seller about the Neapolitan mafia. A critically acclaimed movie followed in 2008, and the TV series premiered in 2014 and ran for five seasons. Two more movies debuted in 2019: 'The Immortal,' a spinoff, and 'Piranhas,' based on a Saviano novel about crime bosses as young as 15. And now there's 'Origins.' So excuse some Neapolitans if they say they've had enough. 'They filmed the first one, they filmed the second one,' said Gennaro Di Virgilio, the fourth-generation owner of an artisanal Nativity shop. 'Basta.' Once too dangerous and corrupt to attract many foreigners, Naples has been in the thrall of a tourism boom for years. Social media has lured visitors to the city's history, food and sunshine, helping Naples shake off some of its seedy reputation, though youth unemployment and crime remain stubbornly high. But the city keeps getting typecast, some Neapolitans say, as Gomorrah, reducing its residents to those engaged in the 'malavita,' the lawless life. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

Valorant is switching to Unreal Engine 5 and finally adding replays

Riot Games is planning to switch Valorant, its popular first-person tactical hero shooter, over to Unreal Engine 5 in July. The engine upgrade from Unreal Engine 4 is part of a number of new changes coming to the shooter over the coming months, including a replay system in September. Valorant has been running on Unreal Engine 4 since a beta of the game originally released in 2020, and Riot Games has been using Unreal 4 for more than 10 years to build the game. The upgrade to Unreal 5 will arrive with patch 11.02 at the end of July, and Riot is promising it shouldn't disrupt gameplay. The game's overall look and feel should be similar, and Riot says the engine upgrade will improve framerate performance and make patch downloads faster in the future. It'll be interesting to see what else this engine upgrade unlocks, particularly whether Riot will improve character models and animations in the future. Valorant players that log in while patch 11.02 is live will get a special gun buddy to commemorate the upgrade. The second big upgrade coming to Valorant later this year is the long-requested replay system. It will arrive on PC first with patch 11.06 in September, followed by a release on console later this year. The replay system will let you analyze recently played competitive games at launch, and Riot is looking at adding more modes later. The replay system should help players report cheating or bad player behavior in Valorant, and Riot is also adding multi-factor authentication to the game to help with smurfing in the competitive modes — where higher ranked players log into accounts to boost them. You'll also soon be able to report accounts that are abusing rank or matchmaking. Valorant 's upcoming 11.0 patch later this month will also add a new map to the game, and it will be available in the competitive mode on day one. During the initial patch cycle of two weeks, rank rating (RR) losses on this new map will be cut by 50 percent while Valorant players get used to playing this new map.

‘Valorant' 10.10 Patch Notes Bring PC And Console Closer Together

A new Valorant patch is here. Credit: Riot Games A new set of patch notes has been released for Valorant, and while there aren't too many big balance changes, it does set things up for grater parity between the console and PC versions of Valorant. The Valorant 10.10 patch notes have basically no real balance changes of consequence for standard play. Raze gets a visual update that will more accurately indicate hitboxes for her Boom Bot and Paint Shells, which should make playing against them a littler easier to manage. Other than that, all the balance changes come for the Swiftplay mode. In Swiftplay, new agent Tejo gets a change that sees his Armageddon starting points increase to three from two. Although, this isn't really a change for this patch, it's actually part of his rework from the last patch that went undocumented. Other agent changes come in the form of bug fixes, with the 10.10 patch notes featuring quite a few of them. Omen gets a change reverted from a few patches ago which should stop dead allies spectating Omen being able to see through nearsights, while the really annoying issue where Vyse could no longer use Arc Rose for the remainder of the round if it was placed too close to the spike has also been solved. You can see them all in the full patch notes. The bigger news is mostly behind the scenes, with some UI changes coming to Valorant on console to bring it closer in line with the PC version. This will bring the two versions closer together in terms of features, and should make it easier for the dev team to implement changes across both of them at the same time in the same way. Initially this is just to do with the Collection section of the menus, but you can expect to see a lot more changes like these in the coming months. It's also time for Pick'Ems to return, this time for Valorant Masters Toronto. From May 28th, you will be able to make your picks for the Swiss Stage in-client and on the web, with some rewards on the line if you manage to predict all the results correctly. With Masters just around the corner, it really isn't a surprise to see such a small patch for Valorant, but that should mean we are only a few weeks away from a much bigger patch that should bring some welcome balance changes and maybe even some new content to play with.
