Ukraine says Russia fired 623 drones and missiles - War in Ukraine
"Twenty-six cruise missiles and 597 attack drones were launched, of which more than half were 'Shaheds'," Zelensky said, referring to Iranian-made drones.
The Ukrainian air force said it had downed 319 Shahed drones and 25 missiles, adding that one missile and about 20 drones hit "five locations". It did not elaborate.
Zelensky called on his Western allies to send "more than just signals" to stop the war launched by Russia in February 2022.
"The pace of Russian air strikes requires swift decisions, and it can be curbed right now through sanctions," he said.
Zelensky specifically urged punishment for those who "help Russia produce drones and profit from oil".
Oil exports are important for the Russian economy, especially in the face of existing Western sanctions.

Cameroon's 92-year-old president seeks 8th term amid health rumors and political challenges - Africa
Cameroon's 92-year-old president announced Monday he will seek his eighth term in the upcoming October elections. The announcement comes after months of speculation that the aging leader would not run, setting the stage for an electoral showdown. Paul Biya, Africa's second longest serving president after Teodoro Obiang of Equatorial Guinea, is frequently sick and abroad. Last year, talk spread that he had died, prompting the government to publicly deny the rumors. Cameroon's second president since independence from France in 1960, Biya has been in power since 1982. Promising that the best is yet to come in his post on social media, Biya reiterated his determination to rule, saying, 'Rest assured that my determination to serve you is commensurate with the serious challenges facing us." The more than 40 years of Biya's rule have left a lasting impact. His government has faced various challenges, including allegations of corruption and a secessionist movement in Cameroon's English-speaking provinces that has forced thousands out of school and triggered deadly clashes with security forces. 'President Biya's announcement to run again is a clear sign of Cameroon's stalled political transition. After over 40 years in power, what the country needs is renewal — not repetition. Cameroonians deserve democratic change and accountable leadership,' Nkongho Felix Agbor, a human rights advocate and lawyer told The Associated Press. Cameroon has also had to deal with spillover violence by the Islamic extremist Boko Haram group, based in neighboring Nigeria. Recently, several of Biya's longtime allies defected to announce their own candidacies for president. He cruised to victory in 2018 with over 70 percent of the vote in an election marred by irregularities and low turnout due to ongoing separatist and jihadi violence. In a region threatened with shrinking democratic space, several other African countries also have presidents accused of using state mechanisms to prolong their stay in power. Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni recently sought nomination for a seventh term, a move that would bring him closer to five decades in power in the East African country. Syria signs $800 mln port deal with UAE-based company: State media - Markets & Companies
Syria signed a $800 million deal with UAE-based company DP World on Sunday to develop the port of Tartus, state media reported, as the new authorities continue their efforts to support post-war reconstruction. Following the toppling of longtime Syrian ruler Bashar al-Assad in December, the new Islamist authorities have worked to reconnect the country to global companies and kickstart reconstruction after 14 years of civil war. "In the presence of President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, an agreement was signed between the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports and DP World, valued at $800 million, as a strategic step aimed at enhancing port infrastructure and logistics services in Syria," state-run news agency SANA said. Following the signing of the deal, DP World CEO Sultan Bin Sulayem said Syria's economy had "significant assets, including the Port of Tartus, which represents an opportunity to transport and export many Syrian industries". In a statement also shared by state media, he pledged to make Tartus "one of the best ports in the world". DP World operates dozens of marine and inland ports and terminals globally, particularly in Asia, Africa and Europe The Syrian civil war devastated the country's infrastructure, and the new authorities hope to use the lifting of Western sanctions to attract investments and fuel reconstruction efforts. Qutaiba Badawi, head of the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, said the parties were "not merely signing a technical agreement, but we are laying the foundation for a new phase of field and maritime work in Syria, repositioning ourselves on the regional and international economic map". In May, Damascus signed a 30-year contract with French shipping giant CMA CGM to develop and run the port of Latakia. That same month, Syria signed a $7 billion energy deal with a consortium of Qatari, Turkish and US companies as part of efforts to revive its crippled power sector.
