Jharkhand encounter: CRPF jawan, 2 Maoists killed; search operation under way

NEW DELHI: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan and two Maoists were killed in a gunfight in Jharkhand's Bokaro district on Wednesday, police said.
The Maoist-CRPF gunfight broke out in the Birhordera forest in the Gomia police station area around 5:30 am.
"The security forces gunned down two Maoists during the encounter. A jawan of the CPRF's CoBRA battalion was also killed in the exchange of fire," IG (Bokaro Zone) Kranthi Kumar Gadidesi told PTI.
According to Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh, a search operation is under way in the area following the encounter.

Based on a tip-off, police learned that explosives had been hidden in the dense forests and hilly areas along the Toklo and Kuchai police station joint search operation was launched on July 19 by Jharkhand Police, Jharkhand Jaguar, CRPF's 60th Battalion, and local district police teams. During the search operation on July 20, the team discovered a large cache of explosives from the forest. Among the recovered items were 14 powerful IED bombs, each weighing 2 kilograms, along with desi hand grenades, ammonium nitrate powder, firecracker powder, steel containers, and other bomb-making the recovered explosives were safely defused and destroyed on-site with the help of the bomb disposal squad. 1 2 3 Jamshedpur: The security forces recovered 14 live IEDs from the forest on the borders of West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Sunday. Along with the live IEDs, weighing 2kg each, the security forces also recovered a country-made hand grenade, ammonia nitrate powder, firecracker powder and a steel container. The explosives were defused at the spot in a controlled way by the bomb disposal squad of the West Singhbhum police. West Singhbhum police said that a combing operation was launched in the jungle area spreading across Toklo thana in Singhbhum and Kuchai thana in Seraikela on Saturday on receiving intelligence about Maoists concealing the explosives to target the security forces. The security forces comprising Jharkhand Jaguar (JJ), CRPF 60 Battalion and police of the two adjoining districts recovered the explosives earlier in the morning.

As security personnel approached the vessel, the boatman attempted to flee, but was apprehended.
